Public Support for Economic Recovery Plan Slips to 42%

Rasmussen

Public support for the economic recovery plan crafted by President Obama and congressional Democrats has slipped a bit over the past week. At the same time, expectations that the plan will quickly become law have increased.

Forty-two percent (42%) of the nation’s likely voters now support the president’s plan, roughly one-third of which is tax cuts with the rest new government spending. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 39% are opposed to it and 19% are undecided. Liberal voters overwhelmingly support the plan while conservatives are strongly opposed.

I guess part of the US is waking up and coming to its senses.  However the Dems in power are so convinced that they are right, or so intent on their mission to convert the US to socialism that they will not listen and the worst bill in the history of the universe will become law sooner or later, and probably more expensive to boot.

Why isn’t this erosion of support in the MSM?  Oh, yeah, stupid question.

White House: Daschle Had ‘Tax Issues,’ Shouldn’t Bar His Cabinet Confirmation

The White House has acknowledged that former Sen. Tom Daschle, President Obama’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services, had “some tax issues,” which, the administration says, have been resolved and shouldn’t bar his confirmation as secretary.

FOX News confirmed that Daschle alerted the Senate Finance Committee, which will oversee his confirmation hearing, that the matter involves more than $100,000 in back taxes and interest for a car and driver that was provided to him for four years by Leo Hindery, a wealthy Democratic donor and longtime friend of Daschle’s.

Daschle incorrectly assumed the use of the car and driver was not subject to taxation. But the White House says he discovered the error during preparation for his confirmation and filed amended tax returns with the proper payment and interest.

More here

Sure, why not?  Being a tax cheat, liar, and thief didn’t stop Geithner, why should it stop Daschle?  In fact no amount of corruption or incompetence or even criminal activity has stopped any of the Messiah’s appointements yet so why should it start now?

The lack of any morals, scruples, common sense, competence, intelligence, and qualifications by those nominated by Hussein are beyond contemptuous but of course since he is The One, his will will be done, to the detriment of society and the country.

If any of these men had been nominated by a Republican president they would have been raked over the coals by both the media and the Dimocraps and run out of town on a rail with their names ruined and their careers over, but since it is Democrats it is OK.  I have never seen a more arrogant and hypocritical group of people in my life.  I doubt there has ever been one in the history of the universe.

To Nelson:

I’ve already told you what a hypocritical idiot, fool, and crook you were to vote to confirm Geithner, now I’m going to tell you that you will only double how idiotic, foolish, and corrupt you already are if you compound your errors by voting to confirm Daschle with his tax cheating.

But since you already proved what an utter and complete ass you are by voting to confirm the liar, cheat, and crook called Geithner you will probably do the same for the newest of Hussein’s liars, cheats, and crooks to be nominated for the cabinet, Daschle.

I will drop dead from surprise if you finally show some sense and intelligence and vote against Daschle but I’m not expecting it, since by your voting record so far you have already shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are indeed one of the worst senators ever in the history of the universe.

You damn Dimocraps are such hypocrites, you know damn well if this was a Republican that had been nominated by a Republican president, you damn Dimocraps would run him over the coals and throw him out of town after you had ruined his name and his career, but since it is a damned Dimocrap it is OK, no amount of corruption, incompetence, or criminal activity could ever prevent a damned Dimocrap from being in the cabinet.  All you damned Dimocrap hypocrites suck.

And don’t even think about voting to throw away a trillion of my tax dollars on socialist waste that will do nothing for the economy at all but will send my children and grandchildren into so much debt that they will never be able to crawl out, just so you damned Dimocraps can stay in power forever and turn the US into a fascist, socialist dictatorship with your boss, Hussein in charge.

To Martinez:

Thank you for voting against the confirmation of Geithner.  Now that yet another of Obama’s cabinet picks has been caught cheating on his taxes and only made good when he knew he had been found out, I trust that you will also vote against the confirmation of Daschle as well.

The new president must feel that he can get away with appointing anyone he wants, no matter what a corrupt or incompetent background he or she may have, as long as they are a good socialist soldier and will march to Obama’s tune.  I hope you will continue to prove him wrong by voting against his horrible choices.

Also I trust you will do the right thing and refuse to vote for the so-called stimulus bill which is everything but a stimulus bill.  It is so filled with waste that will do nothing but help the Democrats transform the US into a socialist if not a fascist state, and will do nothing at all to stimulate the economy either in the short term or the long term.  Please do not allow this travesty to take place and force my children and grandchildren into so much debt that they will never recover at the same time that they live in a socialist USSA that has nothing at all in common with the USA.

Senate’s ‘Gang of 14′ May Be Poised to Strike Again, Over Stimulus Bill

Fox News

Senate Republicans and some Democrats aren’t happy that the $819 billion economic stimulus bill that the House passed Wednesday contains billions of dollars for programs that arguably won’t spark much job growth.

As a result, one moderate Democrat is looking to bring some of his colleagues together, as was done in the past on the issues of judicial appointments and energy policy, to find some common ground on how the stimulus bill might be improved, Fox has learned.

Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., who famously gathered Republicans and Democrats in a so-called “Gang of 14″ to avert a shutdown of the Senate over judicial nominations, is aiming for similar bipartisanship in the stimulus debate. Nelson told FOX News he has invited a group to his office Friday to see if more can be done to create jobs in the stimulus bill — such as a major boost in funding for infrastructure projects, which appeal to many of his colleagues.

More

This is a thinly disguised attempt to throw the Repubs in the Senate a few dollars out of the trillions in the bill in order to buy their support.  Any Repub who votes for this boondoggle of a bill should automatically be thrown out of the party and not allowed to run for office as a Republican ever again.

Senate Republicans May Use Filibuster to Block Stimulus

(CNSNews.com) – Republican senators who oppose the $819 billion economic stimulus plan passed in the House Wednesday declined to say whether they personally would lead a filibuster to try to stop the legislation in the Senate. But they said a filibuster is an option and they are developing a strategy to stop the bill.

The House bill passed 244 to 188. No Republicans voted for the legislation and 11 Democrats also opposed it. As this story went to press, GOP senators indicated they were working on a coordinated plan with Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and that a filibuster is a possible part of that plan.

More

A filibuster may be our only chance to keep this, the worst bill in the history of the universe from becoming the worst law in the history of the universe.  I really hope and pray they can pull it off, but at the same time I also have doubts that they can get all 40 Repub senators on board to support it.  There are too many moderates and RINO’s, like Loser McLame, who would rather dance with Obama and hold his hand than do what is right for the US and what a true, real Republican would.

If they do manage to pull this off it would be the upset of the century and send a real message to the Messiah and all the other liberal socialists that we are not going to roll over and play dead anymore and will now fight back when the future of the Republic is at stake.  Of course that might be wishful thinking.

Jones: What the CIA’s Censors Can Teach Us about Plans to Muzzle Talk Radio

Ishmael Jones
American Thinker

The Central Intelligence Agency runs a small bureau that censors books and articles written by current and former CIA employees. As the only official censorship bureau in America, its operation provides insights on how attempts to muzzle conservative talk radio through a renewed Fairness Doctrine or FCC “localism” may work. It also provides reasons for optimism about the eventual outcome.

CIA censorship seems to make sense at first glance – shouldn’t there be a bureau that ensures secrets are not revealed? But CIA censors routinely approve books that contain classified material – especially those critical of the Bush administration – so long as they are not critical of the CIA itself. Memoirs by former CIA Director George Tenet and other top bureaucrats contain startling amounts of classified information. The CIA must use secrecy to hide the identities of agents and operations, of course, but separate laws have always covered that. The CIA has taken its unique ability to void the First Amendment, awarded by a judge in the late 1970’s, and used it for its own agenda.

More

So even the CIA, charged with defending the US, has been co-opted by the liberals, or at least their censorship bureau has.

Pelosi: I Don’t Respond To Limbaugh, Drudge

CBS

At her weekly press conference this morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked about criticism from Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge over the massive stimulus package that the House passed yesterday.

“I don’t speak to that,” Pelosi said. “I’m the Speaker of the House. I don’t get into the popular culture.”

More

She is a witch with a Capitol B.

She is arrogant too, as is emphasized by her comment and choice of words.  This is another person I won’t mourn when she is placed six feet under.  In fact I might throw a party and dance on her grave.

White House Unbuttons Formal Dress Code

NY Times

WASHINGTON — The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

Thus did an ironclad rule of the George W. Bush administration — coat and tie in the Oval Office at all times — fall by the wayside, only the first of many signs that a more informal culture is growing up in the White House under new management. Mr. Obama promised to bring change to Washington and he has — not just in substance, but in presidential style.

More

Oh, my God, why doesn’t the NYT just lay down at his feet and lick his boots like a faithful, ignorant dog, and make Hussein the Emperor of the Universe?

It also shows the utter lack of dignity and respect this buffoon has for the office and the country.  What is he going to do next, go to a summit in shorts, flip-flops, and tank top?

If the Messiah is supposed to be cutting waste and curtailing spending as he so often lies about, why did he raise the thermostat and waste more money on energy?  The hypocrisy on the Left is utterly unending.

Weather Channel Founder Blasts Gore Over Global Warming Campaign

Fox News

The founder of the Weather Channel is ridiculing Al Gore over his calls for action on global climate change, saying in a column that global warming is a “hoax” and “bad science.”

John Coleman, now a weatherman at San Diego’s KUSI, wrote on his station’s Web site Wednesday that Gore refuses to acknowledge the faulty research on which the idea of global warming is based.

Coleman’s lengthy scolding came as the former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner addressed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and urged lawmakers to pass a bill that would put caps on heat-trapping gases and take the lead on a global climate treaty.

More

Yeah!  Way to go, Coleman!  I wish more and more global “warming” or “climate change” opponents would go over the top public with their criticism so that the public will see that not everybody in the know believes in that crap.  The more the better and the more often and the more strenuous the dispelling of the GW/CC Lie the better.

As for that charlatan and carpetbagger Al Sore, I wish his carbon dioxide spewing plane would go down over the oceans that he claims is warming so he could see for himself before he sinks to the bottom.

By the way, if Coleman was the founder of the Weather Channel what is he doing being a plain weatherman for a TV station in a non-major market?  Did he lose his position due to his opposition to the Cult of Global Warming?

If you haven’t already, you really need to go read the full article by Coleman which lays out in detail how the GW myth was born, grew up, and became all powerful and earth-consuming.  I already knew GW/CC was the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the people of the Earth but I learned many things I did not know.

Bozell: Why Do We Love Profanity?

By Brent Bozell
January 30, 2009

McKay Hatch is a 15-year-old boy from South Pasadena, Calif., who people clearly hate. He’s received over 60,000 negative e-mails, most of them vicious, some including death threats that have spawned police and FBI investigations. What has this boy done that’s caused such anger? Was he caught dealing drugs? Did he rage? Did he kill? No. He started a No Cussing Club.

And for that he is vilified. Hatch says some people are going out of their way to curse him at school, on the Internet and on the phone. They send him pornographic magazine subscriptions. Not long ago, someone ordered $2,000 worth of pizza delivered to Hatch’s house. Then came the death threats.

More

It made me so sad to read this, how this innocent boy who has stood up to do something right has had to suffer so much.  It isn’t fair and it isn’t right, but that is the hate and wickedness in the world we live in and what we have allowed to become commonplace in the US.

And I while I am a good person, reading about travesties of justice and persecution of goodness like this makes me want to go out and just beat the living daylights out of all those who treat this boy and his family wrong.  And I mean pound their faces into the ground and leave them for dead.  I wish I had the ways and means to punish those who are evil to this boy but I don’t have the money to do good, like Soros does to do evil.

One of the reasons I got out of teaching was the offensive level of profanity use by students allowed on campus by the administration and its use also by teachers.  Coming from where I did to this new school was a real culture shock, where students cursed in front of teachers and vice versa and nobody cared or did anything about it.  Kids were saying things in front of teachers and administrators I never would’ve even thought about saying when I was in school and getting away with it openly.  If I had ever said some of the words I heard on a near daily basis, I would’ve been at the very least suspended and probably expelled when I was in school.  The same goes for a lot of other actions by students today that they are allowed to get away which in the past would’ve led to severe disciplinary consequences, but that is another subject.

PS:  Any of you old timers like me out there remember a song by Foreigner called “If You See Kay,” recorded in the late 70’s or early 80’s?  Same thing as this Britney Spears song, in fact Britney’s song sounds like a ripoff of it.  But it was a deep cut on an album (remember those?) and was never released as a single and didn’t get the notoriety this Britney song seems specifically designed to attain.  So while this isn’t new, it’s higher and stronger level of shock attack and attempt to go mainstream is.

All I remember is the chorus went “If you see Kay, tell her I love her, If you see Kay, tell her I need her,” etc.  But back then it was a much nicer world.

Modest Proposal
By Linda Chavez
January 30, 2009

House Democrats passed a nearly trillion-dollar so-called stimulus bill this week at the urging of President Obama, but the spending may do little or nothing to get this economy moving again. Not even the president can explain how giving more money to prevent sexually transmitted diseases or $50 million more to the National Endowment for the Arts will stimulate anything but a good laugh. Most of the money in the bill will take so much time to work its way into the real economy, it’s unlikely it will shorten the current recession or keep people from losing their jobs. Much of it will simply fund the pork-barrel projects dear to the heart of members of Congress. And with Democrats in control of both Congress and the White House, there will be no check on profligate spending.

But if we’re going to have a trillion-dollar stimulus, here’s a modest proposal for a better way to do it. This approach would cost about the same as the Democrats’ current plan, but it could put money into people’s pockets in weeks, not years.

Why not give every man, woman, and child in the United States $3,000 to spend on pretty much anything they choose. The price tag would be about $900 billion, barely more than what is in the House package now. But unlike the Democrats’ plan, which has government making the decision about how the money should be spent, people would get to decide for themselves.

http://www.gopusa.com/commentary/lchavez/2009/lc_01301.shtml

Chavez’s proposal makes more sense than anything the Dimocraps have ever said or done since they have been in existence.  If we’re going to throw away a trillion dollars, why not throw it right back at us instead of letting the bloated, corrupt federal government decide for us how to spend it?  I know a lot of things I would like to buy with $3000.

Limbaugh: Targeting Rush: Saul Alinsky Would Be Proud

By David Limbaugh
January 30, 2009

In his eight full years as the recipient of endless vile, often-delusional slander, President George W. Bush rarely grumbled, much less counterattacked his tormentors. Yet before he completed his first week in office, President Barack Obama — a dedicated disciple of Saul Alinsky, who is to left-wing radicalism and social agitation what Karl Marx is to communism — declared war on Rush Limbaugh.

This was a calculated move by a man who professes to be open to all ideas but apparently brooks no dissent. He not only does not tolerate dissent well but also really doesn’t even like to be questioned, as we saw during the campaign, when he accused the normally fawning press of grilling him for merely asking a follow-up question. We caught another glimpse of this last week, when he showed irritation at the White House press corps for daring to ask him a policy question after he had decreed that the sole purpose of his visit was to press the flesh.

More

There’s a scripture in the Bible that says something to the effect that by their works, you shall know them.

Well, by Obama’s works we surely know him by now, don’t we?  And it is exactly what most of us expected and feared, maybe even worse.  Yet the brain-dead sheep and media go on with their mindless worship and the Republic continues to crumble at every turn.

Malkin: Stimulus Slush Fund for Housing Entitlement Thugs

By Michelle Malkin
January 30, 2009

From tiny acorns, mighty government debacles grow. House GOP Leader John Boehner on Monday rightly sounded the alarm over billions in stimulus tax dollars that could potentially go to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). But the Republican leadership has only scratched the surface over what amounts to a bottomless slush fund for a bigger coalition of housing entitlement thugs.

ACORN, you may recall, is the left-wing activist group with longtime ties to community organizer-turned-President Barack Obama. The nonprofit, which now takes in 40 percent of its revenues from American taxpayers after four decades on the public teat, has a history of engaging in voter fraud, corporate shakedowns, partisan bullying and pro-illegal immigration lobbying. The Democrats’ stimulus proposals could make the group — and its lesser known but even more radical ideological allies — eligible for upward of $5 billion in new public cash.

More

More proof that the non-stimulus bill is a stealth attempt by the DemocRats to use your money to recruit more dependent minorities to be in their army of thugs that will take to the streets and fight if necessary to keep them in power forever.

The picture that came to my mind as I was reading this article was of another army of thugs in Germany in the 30’s who were led by a man named Hitler and were known by the name Nazi.

North: Troubling Talk

By Oliver North
January 30, 2009

WASHINGTON — The Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, in Twentynine Palms, Calif., is a dusty, windswept installation high in the Mojave Desert. It is the world’s largest U.S. Marine base, even though it is more than 150 miles from blue water. Perhaps that is appropriate, because this is the place where Marine units prepare for deployment to Afghanistan, which is more than 250 miles from blue water.

Twentynine Palms — yes, that’s how they spell it — is also “home” to, among others, the legendary 7th Marine Regiment. Last summer, our Fox News documentary team was embedded with the 2nd Battalion of this celebrated unit in the shadow of the Hindu Kush. This week, I spent time with them as they remembered their fallen comrades and prepared for another deployment. Though they aren’t allowed to say where they are heading, it’s very likely to be back to Afghanistan.

Hussein is indeed a naïve, evil, conniving fool who doesn’t even have a smidgen of the qualifications needed to hold the office to which more fools and idiots elected him to, or to lead the armed forces of the US.  I am sure many, many of them are very, very afraid of what this buffoon will do that will get them, or a lot of us, killed.

Hussein reaches out with an olive branch to those who would take the branch and cut his arm off before they killed the rest of him.  Unless he is rally an agent of theirs, in which case he and they will merely carry on the deception until the time to strike is right.

It will be a miracle if we survive the next four years.  And it will be in spite of Hussein and because of our brave men and women in uniform and the honorable CinC who came before this idiot.

Lawsuit argues Clinton ineligible for state post

By NEDRA PICKLER
Associated Press
January 30, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — A conservative watchdog group filed a lawsuit Thursday arguing that Hillary Rodham Clinton cannot legally serve as secretary of state, even though she was sworn in last week.

The suit is based on an obscure section of the Constitution on compensation for public officials, the emoluments clause. The clause says no member of Congress can be appointed to a government post if that job’s pay was increased during the lawmaker’s current term.

Clinton was serving in Congress when the secretary of state’s salary was raised to its current level of $191,300. So that Clinton could take the post, Congress last month lowered the salary to $186,600, the level when she began her second Senate term. A similar tactic has been used so that several other members of Congress from both parties could serve in the Cabinet.

More

While technically correct and probably the right thing to do, this is grasping at straws.  The culture of corruption is so engrained in DC that they feel they can change the rules of the game as they go along to suit themselves.  Besides, the Dims believe the Constitution is a hindrance to their goals, not a blueprint to govern by.  While I wish it would succeed we all know it won’t.

I also bet money the young man under whose name the suit was filed will soon be looking for work elsewhere involuntarily.

Senate passes bill to expand child health coverage

By KEVIN FREKING
Associated Press
January 30, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Democrats moved one step closer to handing President Barack Obama an early health care victory Thursday, passing a bill extending government-sponsored health insurance coverage to about 4 million uninsured children.

The bill, which was approved 66-32, authorizes an additional $32.8 billion over the next 4 1/2 years for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. The House plans to take up the same measure next week.

Even with the added spending, an estimated 5 million children still would be without health insurance. During his election campaign, Obama called for requiring all children to have health coverage.

“When President Obama signs this bill, the real victory will belong not to politicians, but to kids,” said Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.

Are you with Obama or Rush?

Politico

President Obama and a key outside ally are stepping up efforts to ensure passage of the massive economic stimulus package, reaching out to Congress with both carrots and sticks.

While the president and his top aides are using all the trappings of the office, courting members through phone calls, cocktail parties, West Wing sit-downs and even a politically mixed Super Bowl party, liberal groups are dispensing with the niceties and seeking to drive a wedge between Republicans and one of the right’s most influential leaders.

Politico has learned that tomorrow Americans United for Change, a liberal group, will begin airing radio ads in three states Obama won — Ohio, Pennsylvania and Nevada — with a tough question aimed at the GOP senators there: Will you side with Obama or Rush Limbaugh?

More

This is a pretty stupid question to begin with.  If you voted for Obama you won’t side with Rush and if you side with Rush you never would’ve voted for Obama.  These are two mutually exclusive choices, like are you male or female.  Although some liberals might bend that last question a little.  But there is no middle ground and Rush and Obama are at polar opposite ends of the political spectrum.  So let AUC waste their money preaching to their heathen choir.

Obama invites lawmakers for cocktail party

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama was welcoming House and Senate leaders from both parties to the White House for drinks Wednesday night as he continues to lobby lawmakers to pass his economic recovery bill despite stiff GOP opposition.

The getting-to-know-you-better session was to get under way after the House voted 244-188 to approve Obama’s $819 billion stimulus bill. It was a swift victory for the new president, but it was achieved without a single Republican vote despite Obama’s heavy push for a bipartisan show of support on the measure.

More

This is the first time in my life I’ve ever heard of a sitting president inviting congressmen over to the White House for “cocktails” like they are going to an elite socialist, I mean socialite party or something.  If Obama is such a “man of the people” like us ordinary working stiffs, why didn’t he invite them over for a few beers and a basketball game?  His elitist, wining and dining, high-society self shows.

Hey Bam, that’s not the door!

NY Daily News

It looks like President Obama hasn’t gotten acquainted to his White House surroundings. On the way back to the Oval Office Tuesday, the President approached a paned window, instead of the actual door — located a few feet to his right.

Doors didn’t open automatically for Obama’s predecessor either. While making a hasty exit from a 2005 press conference in Beijing, former President George W. Bush tugged on the handles of a door, only to find it locked.

Bush laughed off the blunder, but the pictures still live on as part of Bush’s lame duck legacy. However, there was little note taken of Obama’s rookie mistake.

Obama’s WH Chief of Staff Holds Daily, Secret Calls With Pals in Media

NewsBusters

Politico reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel holds daily chit chat sessions with several Old Media pals every morning to start his day. Apparently Emanuel has for years been involved with daily bull sessions to plan media coverage and ideological strategy with CNN’s James Carville and Paul Begala, as well as ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, with the occasional participation of pollster Stan Greenberg. But there is one little problem with this daily palling around with mediots these days: Emanuel now works for the White House.

As Politico’s John Harris notes, “in any given news cycle, it is quite likely that Washington’s prevailing political and media interpretation — at least on the Democratic side — is being hatched on these calls.”

More

Now we know that when the liberal, biased newspeople said they were going to “work for this presidency” they meant it literally.  With the propaganda and bias they spew out they should be on the White House payroll as official spokespeople.

This makes it official that the biased, liberal MSM is the unelected but bought fourth branch of government.

Soros: The game changer

George Soros
Financial Times

In the past, whenever the financial system came close to a breakdown, the authorities rode to the rescue and prevented it from going over the brink. That is what I expected in 2008 but that is not what happened. On Monday September 15, Lehman Brothers, the US investment bank, was allowed to go into bankruptcy without proper preparation. It was a game-changing event with catastrophic consequences.

For a start, the price of credit default swaps, a form of insurance against companies defaulting on debt, went through the roof as investors took cover. AIG, the insurance giant, was carrying a large short position in CDS and faced imminent default. By the next day Hank Paulson, then US Treasury secretary, had to reverse himself and come to the rescue of AIG.

Kranish: Only 5 percent of $819b plan would go toward infrastructure

Michael Kranish
Boston Globe

WASHINGTON – Five weeks before becoming president, Barack Obama urged passage of a massive economic stimulus package, vowing that it would “create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s.”

But the bill passed by the House yesterday dedicates only about 5 percent of the $819 billion measure to highway, mass transit, and rail projects, analysts said. That has prompted even some Democratic supporters to complain that the transportation spending was gutted by Republicans who insisted on more tax cuts – none of whom voted for the measure anyway – and by Obama advisers who shifted priorities to advance policy goals.

More

Lie, lies, and more lies from the Master of Deception himself who deceived so many into voting his Evilness into office.  We all know this so-called stimulus bill is all about putting the country into the fast lane toward socialism and creating a class of voters dependent on government handouts that will ensure the Socialistcrats stay in power forever.

Obama seeks Senate GOP help for stimulus bill

By ANDREW TAYLOR
Associated Press
January 29, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus legislation is headed for the Senate after a surprisingly partisan vote in the House in which Republicans united in opposition and 11 mostly conservative Democrats defected.

Obama hailed his recovery plan, saying it would “save or create more than three million new jobs over the next few years.”

During Senate debate next week, the measure is expected to pick up at least some GOP support. But Obama’s hopes of changing Washington’s partisan culture went unmet despite the popular president’s separate high-profile meetings on Capitol Hill on Tuesday with House and Senate Republicans.

The $819 billion measure has attracted criticism from Republicans and, privately, from some Democrats for spending billions of dollars on Democratic favorites like education despite questions as to whether they would really put people to work.

More

I am surprisingly confident that the Senate GOP might actually wake up from their sleep of the dead and also rebuke the Messiah and embarrass him on the false-stimulus bill  however there are a few RINO’s and moderates I worry about like Loser McLame.  I read in the Dallas Morning News where the two Texas GOP senators would oppose it and thought most of the Repubs in the Senate would as well.  That’s hopeful anyway.

The best thing that could happen would be for the GOP to hold firm and have one or two Dims and/or independents vote against it to and it not achieve the 60 vote supermajority.  That would certainly be an encouraging sign of good news in what has been nothing but bad for the last year or two.

Obama’s White House: Big posts, overlapping tasks

By CHARLES BABINGTON

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is building a White House staff so loaded with big names and overlapping duties that it could collapse into chaos unless managed with a juggler’s skill.

It’s an administration that seems “addicted to czars,” says one longtime observer of government organization.

Obama has installed a White House health czar who doubles as secretary of Health and Human Services. The State Department now has “special envoys” for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and for climate change — areas already overseen by other officials.

House passes economic stimulus, prodded by Obama

By DAVID ESPO
Associated Press
January 28, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a swift victory for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House approved a historically huge $819 billion stimulus bill Wednesday night, filled with new spending and tax cuts at the core of the young adminstration’s revival plan for the desperately ailing economy.

The vote was 244-188.

“We don’t have a moment to spare,” Obama declared at the White House as congressional allies hastened to do his bidding in the face of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

The vote sent the bill to the Senate, where debate is expected to begin as early as this week on a companion measure already taking shape. Democratic leaders have pledged to have legislation ready for Obama’s signature by mid-February.

Well, now I can die and go to Heaven, the GOP actually stood united in defiance of the Messiah and his cohort?  I would say Hell froze over, but that would just be the northern part of the country that did.

While it makes a good statement for the party, unfortunately it will make no difference and this behemoth of a monster bill will still become law and we will be so far into debt as a country that the poor house will begin to look like a mansion.

Not only that but virtually all of the pork in the bill does nothing but advance all the reprehensible socialist causes that Obama and the Democrats advocate.  In almost one fell swoop we are transformed from capitalist republic to socialist oligarchy.

Obama gives first TV interview to Arabic network

By AP STAFF
Associated Press
January 27, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama gave his first formal television interview as president to an Arabic cable TV network, telling Al-Arabiya that when it comes to Middle East matters “all too often the United States starts by dictating.”

Obama taped the interview with the Dubai-based network Monday as his envoy to the Middle East, former Sen. George J. Mitchell, set out for an eight-day trip to the region and elsewhere. The interview complemented the new administration’s first efforts to reach out to Arab leaders in the region, who have been wary at best of U.S. efforts to broker peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

Obama said he felt it important to “get engaged right away” in the Mideast and had directed Mitchell to talk to “all the major parties involved.” His administration would craft an approach after that, he said in the interview.

Kind of telling about where his foreign policy is going doesn’t it?

Israel better watch her back because soon she will be standing alone facing the Muslim world.

Hussein’s hand reaching out will open the door wide open for terrorists to capitalize on his utter naivety and ignorance and do serious damage to the US, its allies, or its assets.

We have need to be very, very afraid.

Ferrara: Good Morning, Suckers

Peter Ferrara
American Spectator

Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats are playing the voters for fools with the so-called stimulus package. The massive $825 billion package is not even targeted on programs to stimulate the economy. Instead, it is laced with runaway government spending for increased welfare, overgrown bureaucracy, pork, political payoffs, and other waste. That runaway spending is causing record smashing deficits of $1.5 trillion or more, equivalent to over 50% of the entire federal budget for fiscal 2008.

For example, the “stimulus” package includes $50 million for the National Endowment of the Arts to help “the arts community throughout the United States.” Wouldn’t want our economy to get behind in the international arts competition. The government is going to borrow $50 million out of the private economy to spend on this, which will result in a net loss of economic output rather than a net gain.

More

Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats are playing the voters for fools with the so-called stimulus package.

Well, fools is exactly what they are when they voted in these socialists enabling them to use the crisis that these same socialists created themselves to severely cut the time needed for their transformation of the US from capitalist republic to socialist oligarchy.  What might have taken them several years if not decades can now be done in a year or two with this malicious bill.

You get what you pay for, or in this case, you get what you voted for.

A 40-Year Wish List

Wall Street Journal

“Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.”

So said White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in November, and Democrats in Congress are certainly taking his advice to heart. The 647-page, $825 billion House legislation is being sold as an economic “stimulus,” but now that Democrats have finally released the details we understand Rahm’s point much better. This is a political wonder that manages to spend money on just about every pent-up Democratic proposal of the last 40 years.

We’ve looked it over, and even we can’t quite believe it. There’s $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn’t turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There’s even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons.

Ahmadinejad Demands ‘Profound Changes’ in U.S. Policy

TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is calling for “profound changes” in U.S. foreign policy, including giving up support for Israel.

The president’s comments came Wednesday during an address to thousands of people in the western city of Kermanshah.

President Obama on Tuesday in an interview with Arabic television called for more dialogue with Iran to express difference and see “where there are potential avenues for progress.”

“We welcome change but on condition that change is fundamental and on the right track,” Ahmadinejad said. “When they say ‘we want to make changes’, change can happen in two ways. First is a fundamental and effective change… The second … is a change of tactics.”

More

I literally laughed out loud when I read this in the paper this morning.  Especially the part about the US writing a letter of apology to Iran for the wrongs we have done to it.

Obama and Ahmadinejad should get along really well since both are arrogant and complete and total idiots and fools with no sense or intelligence whatsoever.

I really hope the moderate who was president of Iran before this buffoon took over is allowed to run against him and win, so this moron can get out of the spotlight.  I doubt the Ayatollah or whoever runs the country behind the scenes will let him though, they were too much at odds while this fool does exactly what the Ayatollah tells him to.

Halbrook: Don’t Confirm Holder

Stephen P. Halbrook
01/28/2009
Human Events

If the issue weren’t so serious for our nation, the irony would be delicious. Eric Holder, President Obama’s choice for Attorney General is justly criticized for many things. But the fact that he recommended that President Clinton pardon and release from prison unrepentant FALN terrorists while at nearly the same time advocating that law-abiding gun owners be imprisoned if their registration papers are not in order reveals a hard core left wing agenda.

Eric Holder’s agenda is to make exercise of Second Amendment rights a minefield where an innocent misstep will land you in the penitentiary.

When I testified against Holder’s nomination before the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 16, Senator Patrick Leahy replied that Holder promised not to change Vermont’s gun-friendly laws. That’s no consolation — the Feds have no power to change State laws, but they can make all the new Federal felonies they wish.

The case for doing nothing

EAMON JAVERS & JIM VANDEHEI
Politico

Most of Washington has reached quick consensus: Government must do something big to shock the economy, and it should cost between $800 billion and $900 billion.

But dissident economists and investment professionals offer a much different take: Most of Washington is dead wrong.

Instead of fighting over what should go in the economic stimulus bill, pitting infrastructure spending against tax cuts and contractors against contraceptives, they say lawmakers should be fighting against the very idea of any economic stimulus at all. Call them the Do-Nothing Crowd.

More

If there were more Do-Nothing’s in the 30’s we never would’ve had a Great Depression.  This one too will go away eventually if it is left alone, as many economic books, writers, and speakers have been saying.  But the Dims never learn from history.  Or they might know but choose not to do it because this is a golden opportunity to advance the socialist agenda in fast-forward mode, doing several years or decades worth of work in one bill, all the while with next to no debate or scrutiny.

We are the victims of a vast socialist conspiracy from the planned manufacture and execution of this crisis to the election of their Champion to ensure the plan goes through.

Remember what Emanuel Rahmbo said, don’t let a good crisis go to waste, or something to that effect.

We are in big trouble.  Tomorrow we might wake up in a socialist country and wonder what happened and where did it come from.  Well, it started long ago with careful planning and started to come to fruition with this bill.

Redistricting is a hidden weapon for gloomy GOP

The Hill

As Republicans brace for a 2010 election cycle that begins their long road back to the majority, they do have one major weapon in their arsenal — redistricting.

In 2000, Republicans used redistricting to solidify their majorities. Now, with the party reeling from two straight election losses, the landscape for the 2010 round of redistricting could provide them opportunities to regain some of those seats and add some new ones.

The 2010 census could add multiple House seats to red-leaning states — as many as four districts to Texas and two each to Arizona and Florida. And it could subtract seats from blue-trending states like Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

More

I remember in 2000 when the Republicans were in charge for the first time for a redistricting they tried to play nice with the Democrats, completely opposite of how the Dems operated when they were the party in power for so many years and drew the lines with so many gerrymanders to keep themselves in power.  However, even when the GOP tried to be reasonable, unlike how they had been treated in the past by the Dems, the Dems would have none of it and fought it tooth and nail, going to the courts, to the feds, everywhere they could to get what they wanted even though they weren’t the party in power.

So just because you are the party in the majority in the state legislature that is no guarantee you will be able to draw lines favorable for yourself, not with the courts and the federal elections board or whatever they are called stacked with far-Left uber-liberals.  Look at Al Frankenstein, look at ACORN, look at Prop. 8.  The Dems do not give up power, or anything else very easily and will try anything and everything in their dirty play book to win at any cost.

Help! The Government is Trying to ‘Do Something’

Bobby Eberle
The Loft at GOPUSA

Despite the rhetoric of Barack Obama, not everyone in this country believes that government is the solution. Some actually believe that government is the problem, not the cure. In an open letter to President Obama, hundreds of economists wrote that they do NOT believe “more government spending is a way to improve economic performance.”

In addition to the economists, which include “Nobel laureates and other prominent scholars, more and more House Republicans are stepping up to oppose Obama’s massive stimulus plan. Get ready… Obama, Congressional Democrats, and the media will all label these GOP members as “obstructionists .” They will say that these conservatives are standing in the way of “getting things done.” However, you and I both know that when it comes to government, “getting things done” is a recipe for disaster.

On January 9, then President-elect Obama said, “There is no disagreement that we need action by our government, a recovery plan that will help to jumpstart the economy.” HELLO! Of course there is disagreement. Not everyone in this country is a socialist. I’ll take a healthy dose of “inaction” by the government any day of the week.

More

As my personal favorite politician of all time, Ronald Reagan said, government is not the solution, government is the problem.  And the problem is about to get astronomically bigger and there are no solutions to this problem.  The only solution I can think of would be to push the reset button and start all over again with nothing more than the US Constitution and then try to rebuild the government from there, using ONLY what is written in the Constitution for the basis of the laws.  If the power isn’t specifically given to the federal government in that document, then they can’t have it.

Malkin: GOP: Time To Get Things Undone

By Michelle Malkin
January 28, 2009

President Obama thinks he knows what the primary objective of Republicans in Washington should be: to “get things done.” Bashing Rush Limbaugh last week, Obama urged GOP lawmakers to ignore the voices of obstructionism and sign on to his behemoth stimulus package: “We shouldn’t let partisan politics derail what are very important things that need to get done.” Meeting with GOP leaders on Tuesday, Obama repeated his entreaty: “I don’t expect 100 percent agreement from my Republican colleagues, but I do hope that we can all put politics aside and do the American people’s business right now.”

Since when did it become the Republican Party’s top priority to “get things done”? It was as annoying a campaign platitude when John McCain adopted it as it is now coming from Obama’s lips.

I am glad that there are now so many that are unafraid to stand up in public and oppose the Chosen One to his face and tell him publicly that he is Wrong.  Doubt it will do any good but at least the message is getting out that the Messiah is not everybody’s Savior and that there is dissent within the US over his atrocious policies.

I hope that not only those in the US will notice but also that those overseas will as well.

Smaller government and less government interference in anything is always better but that is antithesis to what the Sociocrat Party stands for.

Blankley: Obama’s Collectivist Nationalism

By Tony Blankley
January 28, 2009

President Barack Obama is a beguiling but confounding figure. As he said of himself in “The Audacity of Hope,” “I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.” It is indeed audacious that he should proclaim this consciously disingenuous attribute. And as one reads his inaugural address, it is hard not to conclude that it was crafted shrewdly to perpetuate such confusion.

Run-of-the-mill politicians try to hide their duplicity. Only the most gifted of that profession brag that they intend to confound and confuse the public. Such an effort is beyond ingenious; it is brazenly ingenuous.

And it is working. Many of my fellow conservative commentators are embarrassingly eager to search Obama’s words, groveling for hopeful signs that he is not a radical intent on changing the face and nature of our republic. Some of our Tory conservatives have clung to his words (“hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old; these things are true”) as evidence of a deep conservatism.

More

Like I have said before, Obama is just like nearly all politicians (and a lot of bosses I have had), who tell people only what they want to hear and then go do whatever they want anyway.  Not by their words should you judge them, but by their actions.  Like Tony says, Obama says one thing then does another, or he says one thing when he means another, all in an effort to blind and confuse the idiots who voted for him.

It is diabolically clever and even more amazing that he has been able to pull it off for so long over so many people with his Cult of Personality.  He is like the Devil who can appear as an Angel of Light, but behind the false façade, he is still the Devil.  Whether he can continue to pull the wool over so many eyes remains to be seen but with his diabolical assets, I wouldn’t put it past him.

Bozell: Tony Blankley’s Untimely Cry

By Brent Bozell
January 28, 2009

Authors often try to release their books at an absolutely perfect moment for stoking sales. Exhibit A is PBS anchor Gwen Ifill, who scheduled her liberal “era of Obama” thrill-fest about hot-shot black Democrats for Barack Obama’s Inauguration Day. Tony Blankley did almost exactly the opposite. To paraphrase the famous Bill Buckley slogan for National Review, Blankley’s new book stands athwart the historic Obama swearing-in, yelling stop. It’s titled “American Grit,” and it calls for a “new nationalism,” a notion at odds with Obama’s open disdain for American exceptionalism.

The left and their media allies have spent nearly every day since 9/11 painting America as an impending dictatorship, a George Bush migraine-headache nightmare of off-shore Guantanamo persecutions and foreign Abu Ghraibs. It’s their goal to regain America’s global popularity by promoting national weakness as an ideal. Their agenda calls for us to try everything a United Nations bureaucrat would have us do: a military in retreat, an executive branch discarding all those horrid martial powers.

More

More proof of the two-faced hypocriticalness of the Left.  With people like these in the country during WWII we would’ve lost and all be speaking German right now and paying homage to the Fuhrer.

There will be no good time to publish this book in at least the next four years so now is as good a time as any.  I really hope it does well and goes on the best-seller list, unless it is censored off it by the NYT.

Gore: Economy should spur action on global warming

By DINA CAPPIELLO
Associated Press
January 28, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Vice President Al Gore is urging Congress not to be sidetracked by the current financial crisis and to take “decisive action” this year to reduce the heat-trapping gases responsible for global warming.

Gore, scheduled to appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday, planned to tell lawmakers that a bill capping greenhouse gas emissions is needed if the U.S. is to play a leading role in negotiations for a new international climate treaty.

He also was pressing Congress to pass President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan, saying investments in clean energy and green jobs will help dig the country out of its economic rut, according to his prepared testimony.

More

God, I HATE this charlatan carpetbagger, Gore.  Why can’t his carbon-spewing plane crash or something?

He would castrate all of US industry with carbon caps-and-trade in order to line his pockets and those of his co-conspirators.  Then the US will become a third-rate industrial country as well as third-rate world power, and allow Communist China to assume world leadership since they don’t follow any rules and in fact, exploit the weaknesses of their enemies.

US-Mexico border fence almost complete

By EILEEN SULLIVAN
Associated Press
January 28, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — The fence along the U.S.-Mexico border is mostly finished.

Customs and Border Protection spokesman Lloyd Easterling says that 601 miles of the project had been completed as of a week ago.

Easterling says 69 miles of the fence still must be built to meet the goal set during the Bush administration.

In December, then President-elect Barack Obama said he wanted to evaluate border security operations before he considers whether to finish building the fence under his administration.

Easterling said the Obama White House has not told Homeland Security to stop building the fence.

More

How long will it stand before the Chosen One chooses to dismantle it in way of “reaching out” to Mexico?  And what good will it do when the Chosen One embraces illegals and sets policies welcoming them into our country and society?

He cares more about what Mexicans think of him than the security and culture of our nation.  The same goes for just about all other countries in the world.

I am sure with the Messiah in office the illegals will begin streaming into the country in droves because they know they can get away with it and before too long he will allow them to be citizens.

FPL could face $1 billion in fines

Florida Power & Light reports it may have to pay millions in fines for a massive blackout last year that left as many as 3 million people in the dark.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has not completed its investigation or released any findings yet. If FPL can reach a settlement with the agency before then, it would probably be able to avoid the fines.

FPL has blamed the power outage on Feb. 26 on a human error at a substation in Miami-Dade County. FPL officials said the outage lasted an hour on average for affected customers.

http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/business/realestate/housekeys/blog/2009/01/fpl_could_face_more_than_25_mi.html

HOW do they make sure FPL doesn’t pay the fines by raising the rates?  All they have to do is take the money to pay the fine from another area or another account and then say that area needs more funding and they need to raise rates to pay for it.  Crooks like these always have crooked paid accountants like Al Capone did to cook the books and get whatever numbers they want.

The only sure fire way to make sure consumers don’t get stuck paying the fine is for the fine to be given to a court or some other neutral body and then returned to the consumers in the form of checks.

Yeah, right, like that will ever happen.

Nelson’s response:

Dear Mr. Vanderslice:

Thank you for contacting me about the nomination of Timothy Geithner to serve as Treasury Secretary. I understand your concerns.

Mr. Geithner admitted an honest mistake on his taxes and the IRS agreed, choosing not to penalize him. Also, all taxes owed were paid with interest.

The Finance Committee took testimony from Mr. Geithner on January 21, and favorably reported his nomination. On January 26, I joined the majority of the Senate in confirming Mr. Geithner, and he was sworn in later that day.

Given what’s at stake with our economy, it is vital that we have a Treasury Secretary who is ready to act. I appreciate hearing your opinion on this nomination. Please don’t hesitate to contact me in the future.

My counter-response to Nelson:

So, Bill, since you are so understanding towards those who conveniently “forget” to pay their taxes, I’m going to conveniently “forget” to pay my taxes this year, and then hit you up for a high level government job, since that seems to be the way your Democrat Party system works.  When the IRS comes calling I’ll just tell them you, Obama, and Geithner said it was OK, since the Sec. of the Treasury did it and not only got away with it, he got a huge promotion.

How’s that grab you, Bill?  I’m sure looking forward to that high level government job you’re going to give me when I cheat, I mean, “forget” to pay my taxes.  Thanks for the tip, I never knew cheating the government could be so easy.

Big Government: The Ever-Expanding Consumer of the American Dream

Bobby Eberle
The Loft at GOPUSA

During the tail end of President Bush’s administration, we witnessed one of the lowest points of the Republican decline. Faced with a worsening economy, due in large part to previous governmental actions, President Bush and members of Congress proposed a $700 billion bailout.

So-called “conservative” talking heads popped up on television pushing the plan. They ridiculed and lambasted Republican officials who stood up for conservative values. Instead of letting the market correct itself, these “inside the beltway” socialites told the American people that the solution to the mess that the government got us in was to have more debt and more government interference. Now, the economy is worse, and President Obama is pushing for an even bigger “stimulus.” Enough is enough.

I’m not sure what is worse… the fact that many Republicans abandon their conservative beliefs and act like Democrats when pushing for bigger government intervention, or the fact that while doing so, these legislators jump on the pork bandwagon and load the bill with pet projects at the expense of the taxpayers.

More

It seems as if the country has lost its mind because those in power have no self-control.

They are a living example of the axiom, absolute power corrupts absolutely.  Once elected and cognizant of all the power they wield, they go mad with power lust and only want more, more, more.  And this is only encouraged as the size, scope, and power of the federal government continues to balloon.

It will be the downfall of the American Republic and I fear, the last of Western culture and civilization.  After all these years, after Reagan defeated the communists, the socialists win after all, by defeating us from within no less.

I do wonder how long the socialists will reign however, with radical Islam and jihad breathing down their necks.

The world turns and time goes on and I fear the West’s time on the stage is nearing an end

SCHIP Bill Does Not Require Photo ID or Proof of Citizenship for Socialized Health Care

(CNSNews.com) – A proposed change to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), currently under reauthorization by Congress, could make it possible for people to get health coverage by presenting only a Social Security number, not a photo ID or proof of legal residency or citizenship, such as a birth certificate, driver’s license or passport.

Corporate Tax Cuts Should Be Part of the Stimulus

By STEPHEN J. ENTIN

This week the House will be voting on a two-year, $825 billion economic stimulus package. This is on top of vast sums already being spent in the financial bailout packages. The program is immense. Will it work?

The idea is to jump-start “aggregate demand,” according to traditional Keynesian precepts. Milton Friedman, on the other hand, taught us that government spending and tax handouts do not stimulate demand, because every dollar doled out by government must be first taken in by taxes, borrowing or other spending cuts. The net effect on aggregate demand is zero.

More

Democrats decry American businesses moving overseas and taking jobs with them but it is the high taxes on them that force them to do so, when the US has the highest corporate tax rate in the world.  If I was a large, wealthy corporation forced to do business under the oppressive system put in place by Democrats in the US, I would be looking for an overseas tax haven.  When you make an atmosphere hostile to business, who wants to do business there?

Republicans chew on DeMint

Politico

Just after November’s election, Republican senators huddled in a closed-door meeting to consider a package of rules that would have tossed Ted Stevens out of their conference, imposed term limits on party leaders and otherwise changed the way the Senate Republican Conference does business.

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, who proposed the rules, saw quickly that they weren’t going to be popular with his colleagues. So one of his staffers urged him to withdraw the proposal setting term limits on the GOP leader, and DeMint hoped the others would remain packaged together so they could be considered in a single vote.

DeMint sounds like the kind of guy that we need more of in the GOP and especially in the Senate.  It is a shame that he is marginalized by the wimpy moderates and RINO’s that bow down to the Democrats more than they represent conservative views.

Limbaugh: Gitmo Questions For Press Secretary Robert Gibbs

By David Limbaugh
January 27, 2009

During his first week in office, President Barack Obama signed an executive order requiring that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility be closed within a year. Later communications from his office disclose that he hasn’t yet fully explored the potentially negative consequences of closing the facility. The problem, he said, is more complicated than it first appeared. This raises a number of questions, Mr. Gibbs:

–How can President Obama credibly maintain that the issue is more complicated than he thought, when people have been raising these problems for years? Is he just now discovering that there are serious consequences involved, or did he already know and finesse the issue during the campaign for political purposes? If he didn’t know (and even more so if he did know), doesn’t he owe former President George W. Bush an apology for his unfair criticisms? Doesn’t he owe the American people an explanation as to how he could possibly have been unaware of such rudimentary aspects of this fundamentally important national security issue?

More

All good questions, every one, which any person of even reasonable intelligence already knows the answers to, but that the Obama regime will never admit.

It’s not about what is good for America and America’s citizens, it’s all about what is good for Obama.

Patton: What A Difference A Generation Makes

By Doug Patton
January 27, 2009

“Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.” – Ronald Reagan, from his first inaugural speech as governor of California, January 5, 1967

A middle school vice principal told me last week that he could see the thrill and the pride in the faces of his black students as they watched the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. He seemed to think this was a good thing. When asked why a Clarence Thomas or a Bill Cosby were not role models to them, he said that these young people saw Obama in a way they could never see Thomas or Cosby.

“I can’t explain it,” he told me, “but they just don’t consider such people to be ‘one of them.’ There is a feeling among them that ‘Barack’s got my back.’”

More

Very well written, truthful article.

it has spent so much time teaching them politically correct but inaccurate information that we now have a generation that knows what to think but not how to think. Consequently, we now have the most ignorant electorate in the history of American elections.

I couldn’t agree more with these two statements.

This article made me very sad for the demise of my country too.

It all started going to Hell as soon as Slick Willie Clinton was elected the first time and now it is like an avalanche sliding downhill, growing exponentially and unstoppable, devouring and crushing everything that was good about America in its path and sending us into the black hole of irrelevance, hopelessness, and powerlessness.

Sowell: What Are They Buying?

By Thomas Sowell
January 27, 2009

Everyone is talking about how much money the government is spending, but very little attention is being paid to where they are spending it or what they are buying with it.

The government is putting money into banks, even when the banks don’t want it, in hopes that the banks will put it into circulation. But the latest statistics shows that banks are lending even less money now than they were before the government dumped all that cash on them.

Even if it had worked, putting cash into banks, in hopes that they would put it into circulation, seems a rather roundabout way of doing things, especially when the staggering sums of money involved are being justified as an “emergency” measure.

Spending money for infrastructure is another time-consuming way of dealing with what is called an immediate crisis. Infrastructure takes forever to plan, debate, and go through all sorts of hearings and adjudications, before getting approval to build from all the regulatory agencies involved.

More

Reiterates again what most of us already know, the Democrats are using a crisis to create their version of a socialist workers’ paradise and setting themselves up to be running it for generations to come without any opposition.  In fact there is plenty of evidence to suggest that the crisis was deliberately planned and generated for exactly that purpose.

We are the victims of a bloodless coup by the socialist Left under the guise of the Democrats to establish the rule of their fascist, authoritarian Party to rival anything Stalin or Mao, or Big Brother could come up with.

Carter: If no Palestine, Israel sees ‘catastrophe’
By PETER JAMES SPIELMANN
Associated Press
January 27, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday that Israel will face a “catastrophe” unless it revives the Mideast peace process and establishes an independent Palestinian state.

In an interview with The Associated Press, he said Arabs will outnumber Jews in the Holy Land in the foreseeable future.

“If we look toward a one-state solution, which seems to be the trend — I hope not inexorable — it would be a catastrophe for Israel, because there would be only three options in that case,” Carter said.

Conyers subpoenas Rove

By Susan Crabtree
Posted: 01/26/09 06:28 PM [ET]

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) subpoenaed former White House senior adviser Karl Rove, a sign that Democrats are not letting go of investigations the Bush administration stonewalled.

The subpoena requires Rove to testify regarding his role in the Bush administration’s politicization of the Justice Department, including the firings of nine U.S. attorneys and the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman.

The House Judiciary panel granted Conyers the power to subpoena several White House officials, including Rove, in 2007 after they failed to testify voluntarily before the House and Senate about the U.S. attorney ousting. The White House claimed executive privilege but offered to grant Democrats in the House and Senate private interviews with administration officials, conducted with neither oaths nor transcripts.

More

Beware, the Democrats are a’comin’!

This is so ridiculous, it was ridiculous in 2001 and it is ridiculous now.  Every single administration since there has been US Attorneys has engaged in house cleaning when they took office to put in office like-minded individuals.  Only when Bush did it did Democrats, feeling their growing power, start to whine and complain.  It was okay when Slick Willie did it but not GWB.

I am anxious to see how many US attorneys Hussein fires and how the media and the Democrats react to that.  It probably won’t even make the back page of the news in fine print.

Obama attempts to divide Republicans

By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press
January 27, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is making good on his promise to hear from Republicans as he pushes for swift passage and bipartisan backing of his massive $825 billion plan intended to jerk the country out of recession.

The unanswered question: whether the new Democratic president will actually listen to GOP concerns about the amount of spending and the tax approach — and modify his proposal accordingly.

With the economy worsening, Obama was making his first trip to Capitol Hill since his swearing-in last week for two private afternoon sessions Tuesday with House and Senate Republicans.

“The goal is to seek their input. He wants to hear their ideas,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said. “If there are good ideas — and I think he assumes there will be — we will look at those ideas.”

More

The only Republicans Obama wants to hear from are those that lay down at his feet and grovel, kowtowing to his demands.  If they disagree or stand up to him, they get flippant, sarcastic remarks like “I won,” and ostracized, like those that listen to Rush Limbaugh.

Hussein might make a great show at attempting to be bipartisan but that is all it is, a show.  He might listen but it is in one ear and out the other because he doesn’t care what they say.  As he already told them in so many words, he is going to do what he wants regardless.

Heil Obama.

Acorn’s Seed Money

Investor’s Business Daily

Stimulus: The group that pushed banks into the risky loans that brought the economy down is now eligible for a huge chunk of stimulus cash. The stimulus plan does create jobs — for community activists.

As in any agreement, contract or piece of legislation, the devil is in the details. So it is with the stimulus package percolating in Congress.

Analysts are beginning to figure out that only a small percentage of the money will actually trickle down into the economy in the first two years, not enough to do much stimulating.

More

“Republican lawmakers are raising concerns that ACORN, the low-income advocacy group under investigation for voter registration fraud, could be eligible for billions in aid from the economic stimulus proposal working its way through the House.

House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement over the weekend noting that the stimulus bill wending its way through Congress provides $4.19 billion for “neighborhood stabilization activities.”

He said the money was previously limited to state and local governments, but that Democrats now want part of it to be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds.”

It wasn’t enough that the Democrats bought and paid for the 2008 election through groups like ACORN, now they are trying to sneak this through the back door with no one watching so that they can buy their way into power forever.  And ladies and gentlemen, forever lasts a very, very long time.

This is completely outrageous but by now nothing that the Democrats do surprises me anymore, no matter how evil, vile, or backhanded.  It just makes me want to give up and go home.

House GOP member to Rush: Back off

Politico

Rush Limbaugh may command a large following, but his caustic comments Monday about the GOP’s congressional leadership have at least one Republican House member defending his colleagues and offering an unusually candid critique of the talk radio powerhouse and his fellow commentators.

Responding to President Obama’s recommendation to Republican congressional leaders last week that they not follow Limbaugh’s lead, the conservative talkmeister said on his show that Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He’s more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn’t say much about our party.”

Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., did not take kindly to this assessment in an interview with Politico Tuesday.

This idiot needs to change the R behind his name to a D.

He has the gall to say

do what’s best for your people and your party

My butt.  He is so full of crap.  The majority of the Repubs in Congress have not been doing what is best for the party or the people for a very, very long time.  He is a prime example of what is wrong with the party and what needs to be swept out and replaced with those like Rush Limbaugh.

Senate confirms Geithner as treasury secretary

By LAURIE KELLMAN
Associated Press
January 26, 2009

The Senate Roll Call Vote

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate on Monday confirmed New York Federal Reserve Bank chief Timothy Geithner as President Barack Obama’s treasury secretary despite tax problems that might have sunk his nomination in less desperate times.

The 60-34 vote, in which handfuls of Republicans and Democrats voted against their party leaders, put Geithner at the helm of Obama’s economic team as it races to halt the worst financial slide in generations.

In swift order reflecting the urgency, Obama was expected to attend Geithner’s swearing in Monday evening at the Treasury Department. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Geithner has made amends — he has paid the taxes and penalties — and possesses the talent the nation needs to steer the nation out of the crisis.

Geithner, 47, served as undersecretary of the treasury for international affairs during the Clinton administration. As president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, he’s been a key player in the government’s response to collapsing financial institutions and the housing and credit markets since last summer.

More

Outrageous.  Indefensible.  Insane.  Many adjectives come to mind regarding this news.  How an obvious criminal can be put in charge of the nation’s finances is utterly mindboggling.  The only reasoning I can think of is that other criminals voted to put him in charge.  What kind of lesson does this send to the youth of today, that you can cheat on your taxes, say you forgot, pay it back when you get caught, and made Secretary of the Treasury.

No wonder the country is in moral limbo-land.  You’ve got a dope-smoker president who may or may not even be a legal US citizen, a criminal for Sec. of the Treasury, either an liar or an incompetent for Attorney General, a Sec. of Education who ruined his entire school district, and the madness goes on.

I suppose this ‘Senate’ would confirm Genghis Kahn for Sec. of Defense, the Boston Strangler for Sec. of Health, Charles Manson for Sec. of Education, Jack the Ripper for Sec. of State, and so on.  This is like handing our tax money over to Billy the Kid or Jesse James.

I think everyone in the US should stage a taxpayer revolt over this confirmation and refuse to pay any taxes until Geithner resigns, saying if the Sec. of the Treasury didn’t pay his taxes for five or six years, neither are we.

Senate GOP Leader Warns of ‘Looming Entitlement Crisis’ – $495K Per Household

(CNSNews.com) – Americans face a ‘looming entitlement crisis’ in which every American household already shares nearly $500,000 in debt, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Friday at the National Press Club.

McConnell, who became the most powerful Republican in Washington with the departure of former President Bush on Tuesday, called on Democrats to use their expanded powers to address the entitlements problem.

“The expansion of entitlement spending is a looming crisis that has been overlooked for too long,” said McConnell. “With control of the White House and big majorities in Congress, Democrats now owe it to the American people to put their power to work on this vital issue.”

More

Ever feel like you’re on a sinking ship and you need to get off as soon as possible before you go down with it?  In this case the ship is the US and it is sinking in an ocean of debt, thank you to the Democrats and the RINO’s.  Whether we become socialist or stay capitalist, we will still be drowning in debt for generations to come, even if we stopped spending.

The ones in power are like, we’re already so deep in over our heads, what difference is a few trillion more going to make?  And the mountain of debt keeps adding up exponentially.  At this rate we will be a third-rate, third-world country in no time.

With the current regime in place with Hussein, Pelousy, and Reid, the entitlements will continue to grow so that they can continue to build an unbeatable power base for the Democrats to keep enslaved with government welfare and giveaways for years if not decades to come.  They will continue to get the vote of those dependent on them for all their needs.

It is diabolical but it is a sound plan and it will probably work because those that are willing to stand up and fight against it are few and hard to find.

The Obama-Limbaugh Bipartisan Stimulus Plan of 2009

Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: I have a serious proposal to make: the Obama-Limbaugh Stimulus Plan 2009. There is a serious debate in this country as to how best to end the recession. Recessions will end on their own if they’re left alone. The average recession will last five months to 11 months. The average recovery from each recession will last six years. What can make the recession worse is the wrong kind of government intervention. The wrong kind of government intervention is precisely what President Obama has proposed. I don’t believe that his stimulus plan is a stimulus plan at all. I don’t think it’s designed to stimulate anything but the Democrat Party. It’s designed to repair the power losses from the nineties forward of the Democrat Party and to entrench this party for, quote, unquote, eternal power like Franklin Delano Roosevelt did with his New Deal.

More

It’s a good idea, but Hussein will never go for it.  Despite all his BS and talk about “coming together” and “unity” and “bipartisanship,” it is all a smokescreen.  As Rush says, bipartisanship to Hussein means Republicans doing what he wants, not compromising.  For Hussein, it is all about Hussein and power, how to keep what he’s go and how to get more.

The man knows absolutely nothing about economics, like just about all Democrats, and if he does, he doesn’t care about what is right for the US and the economy, all he cares about is how to transform the US into a socialist state and how to entrench the Democrats in power for generations to come to continue the socialist conquest.

Obama’s partisan, profane confidant reins it in

NY Times

WASHINGTON: Earlier this month, Barack Obama was meeting with the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and other lawmakers when Rahm Emanuel, his chief of staff, began nervously cracking a knuckle.

Obama then turned to complain to Emanuel about his noisy habit.

At which point, Emanuel held the offending knuckle up to Obama’s left ear and, like an annoying little brother, snapped off a few special cracks.

The episode, relayed by someone familiar with the incident, underscores some essential truths about Emanuel: He is brash, has a deep comfort level with his new boss and has been ever-present at Obama’s side of late, in meetings, on podia and in numerous photographs.

More

Every evil dictator needs an even more evil sidekick to do the dirty work for them.  Hitler had several which is why he is the most evil dictator of all.  The Anti-Christ has the False Prophet.

It looks as if Emanuel is Hussein’s attack dog and is barely under control.  One day he might break loose from his leash and wreak all kinds of havoc in Washington on Obama’s watch and then what will Hussein do with a loose gun on the run?  It might get interesting.

Napolitano’s priority: Canada border

Washington Times

Vulnerabilities along the Canadian border are one of more than a half-dozen priorities identified by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano during her first week, along with cybersecurity and ensuring that federal officials are properly communicating with state and local officials.

“The northern border of the United States has become, since 9/11, important to our national security,” Miss Napolitano wrote in an action directive issued Friday.

“As we have designed programs to afford greater protection against unlawful entry, members of Congress and homeland security experts have called for increased attention to the Canadian border,” the directive said.

More

I smell a LOT of illegals coming across the Mexican border in the next few years that will make today’s illegal immigration crisis feel like a walk in the park.  And I also fear that among these millions more new illegals will be an uncountable number of terrorists out to easily exploit the coming glaring holes in our border security.  I bet the countdown to the next 9-11 has already begun.

Lifson: Media averts eyes from subpoenas to Obama top staff

Thomas Lifson
American Thinker

“And on the fifth day, subpoenas were served to Obama senior staff.”

That’s how Doug Ross of Director Blue puts it, describing the import of the story the media chose to ignore. In the deadest news hole of the week, Saturday, the list of subpoenas served by Patrick Fitzgerald was released. It contained:

A veritable “who’s who” of Obama staffers, surrogates and affiliates were among those served with subpoenas. Put simply, within one week of President Barack Obama’s administration taking office, it is already under significant legal scrutiny that will — at a minimum — take precious time away from dealing with the country’s monumental economic and foreign policy challenges.

More

My only hope is that Fitzgerald is able to nail as many of them against the wall as is possible.  I know it is too much to ask for it to bring down the reign of the Chosen One, but one can always hope.  At least maybe it can cripple his regime so that it is no able to totally destroy the country before he is ousted by whatever means.

Adams: My New Spread the Wealth Grading Policy

Mike S. Adams
Townhall

Good afternoon students! I’m writing you this email to announce that I’m making some changes in the grading policies I announced two weeks ago when I sent an email with an attached course syllabus. As you know, we now have a new president and I thought it would be nice to align our class policies with some of the policies he will be implementing over the next four years. These will be changes you can believe in and, I hope, changes that will inspire hope, which is our most important American value.

Previously, I announced that I would use a ten-point grading scale, which means that 90% of 100 is an “A,” 80% is a “B,” 70% is a “C,” and 60% is enough for a passing grade of “D.” I also announced that I will refrain from using a “plus/minus” system – even though the faculty handbook gives me that option.

More

Being a teacher, I find this is just too funny, and also too very accurate of an analogy to what the new administration is going to do with our tax money.  This is so simply put and easily understood it should be mandatory reading for everyone in the entire country, Democrats included.  No, Democrats especially.

Vatican official accuses Obama of ‘arrogance’

AFP

A senior Vatican official on Saturday attacked US President Barack Obama for “arrogance” for overturning a ban on state funding for family-planning groups that carry out or facilitate abortions overseas.

It is “the arrogance of someone who believes they are right, in signing a decree which will open the door to abortion and thus to the destruction of human life,” Archbishop Rino Fisichella was quoted as saying by the Corriere della Sera daily.

Fisichella is president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, one of a number of so-called pontifical academies which are formed by or under the direction of the Holy See.

“What is important is to know how to listen… without locking oneself into ideological visions with the arrogance of a person who, having the power, thinks they can decide on life and death,” he added.

More

It seems that there is more sense and intelligence in Vatican City, and the UK, that is sorely lacking in the US.  Why do these people so easily see through the slick veneer and false façade of Hussein for what he really is, yet American journalists and politicians can’t, or won’t?

Lamb: Beyond Pomp And Circumstance

By Henry Lamb
January 26, 2009

Hidden well behind the spectacular pomp and historic circumstance of inauguration week, the wheels of government continued the relentless grind, oblivious to the party in power at the moment. From deep within the bureaucracy, the USDA moved closer to taking control over every livestock animal and the land on which they roam. With a callousness hardened by expanded majorities, Congress moved closer to taking control over another two million acres of land and the resources it contains.

To accommodate a request of the National Institute of Animal Agriculture, a trade association of agri-business and livestock associations, the USDA set out in 2002 to create an electronic tracking system for every cow, horse, chicken, turkey, goat, sheep, pig — 29 species in all — that could pinpoint the location of every animal in the country, and, within 48 hours, trace its every movement since birth. This massive project would bring the United States into compliance with the requirements of a little-known sub-agency of the World Trade Organization. Compliance with these requirements opens export markets coveted by the members of the National Institute of Animal Agriculture.

More socialism on the march to fascism with total government control over everything, not just farm animals and private land, but people and their movements, dealings, thoughts, etc., with no rights to prevent it.

Barone: The Obama-Kennedy Connection

By Michael Barone
January 26, 2009

Last Tuesday, for the 22nd time in 220 years, Americans saw the peaceful post-election transfer of power from one political party to another. In our great outdoor national ceremony, scheduled for some reason on a day that is as likely as any other to be the coldest of the year, Barack Obama took the oath as our 44thth president and spoke to the nation for 19 minutes in a speech that was far more somber than the mood of the crowd of 2 million on the Mall.

At least one thing he got wrong. He spoke of “a sapping of confidence — a nagging fear that America’s decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.” But a few hours before Obama spoke, pollster Scott Rasmussen reported that 48 percent of Americans believe the nation’s best days are yet to come, while only 35 percent say they have come and gone.

More

Obama just talks a good game to make it look like he is straddling the fence but it is in his actions, not his words, that he needs to be judged, and in his actions, he has proven to be exactly what we predicted, a far-Left, ultra-liberal with nothing but socialist goals and a socialist agenda.

Sherline: The Devil Is In The Details

By Harris Sherline
January 26, 2009

President Obama’s inaugural address received glowing accolades from many Americans and criticism from others. I wasn’t impressed. However, my criticism is not based on his rhetoric or style so much as the content of his speech. Following are just some of the things he said that concern me:

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood…Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age.”

Whose “collective failure”? The fault lies with our politicians, who have steadily expanded the role of government in the economy and have been unwilling to restrain spending. The public is responsible only in the sense that they have repeatedly elected politicians who do not understand economics and whose primary interest is getting re-elected.

More

Harris doesn’t miss and hits the nail right on the head with every point in this one.  Hussein does seem intent on remaking the US into the failed, neo-socialist mode of Europe and turn us into just another third rate socialist country that was once a major world power, like the rest of Europe.  His idea of peace is surrender.

Fight building over judges redoing mortgages

By LARRY MARGASAK
Associated Press
January 26, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — Most congressional Democrats say the quickest way to save homeowners like Troy Butler of Saginaw, Mich., is to let them declare bankruptcy and allow judges to dictate new mortgage terms.

Easy, except the lenders that would absorb the pain — and lose control of any deals to ease the terms — do not want to get dragged into bankruptcy court by millions of overextended borrowers.

Butler, 40, is a laid-off General Motors worker who has filed for bankruptcy. But the bankruptcy court has no authority to change the terms of his $90,000-plus mortgage that is more than double the value of his home.

More

This is about as insane, unfair, and convoluted as anything.  If they couldn’t pay they never should have bought the house in the first place.  Why should I get punished for living within my means in a house I would afford and not going out on a limb to borrow on a bigger, better house I could not afford, when Troy and people like him got to live in a much better house all those years and now get to keep it for free, all because they went beyond their means or couldn’t stop spending money and living the good life in order to afford what they had.  This is so unfair it is unreal.

Instead of living in my small house, I should’ve went out and bought a multi-million dollar mansion years ago I knew I would never be able to afford, live in luxury all those years, then declare bankruptcy and get to keep it anyway.  This is an insane world, where those who are fiscally responsible get punished with the short end of the stick and those that are irresponsible bet let off the hook and get to keep what they never should have had in the first place.  Madness.

Gay leaders worried about Prop 8 repeal

By LISA LEFF
Associated Press
January 26, 2009

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gay rights activists are weighing the wisdom of rushing in front of voters a repeal of the state ballot measure that banned gay marriage.

While two initiatives seeking to undo Proposition 8 — the voter-approved measure — already have been submitted to the Secretary of State, pro-gay marriage leaders say 2010 may be too soon to bring the issue back before voters.

“There is one thing worse than losing Prop. 8, and that would be losing again,” said Chad Griffin, a Los Angeles political consultant who organized Hollywood’s opposition to the ban. He was speaking to about 400 activists who gathered for a statewide planning summit here Saturday.

More

Gay rights advocates are just like terrorists.  They will never give up and they will never surrender.  They will do anything and everything possible to achieve their goals, no matter how illegal, immoral, unclean, or nefarious.  They accept no compromise or negotiation.  There is no middle ground, there is only their way.  And even if they lose in the short term they keep on fighting for another day they can call a victory.  They are social terrorists, or psychological terrorists, if you will.

Issue of terrorists’ rights to test Obama’s pledge

By ANNE FLAHERTY
Associated Press
January 26, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s pledge of bipartisan cooperation with Congress will be tested as he tries to fulfill a campaign promise to close Guantanamo Bay and establish a new system for prosecuting suspected terrorists.

The undertaking is an ambitious one. Fraught with legal complexities, it gives Republicans ample opportunity to score political points if he doesn’t get it right. There’s also the liklihood of a run-in with his former rival, Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war who before running for president staked his career on overhauling the nation’s detainee policies.

“We look forward to working with the president and his administration on these issues, keeping in mind that the first priority of the U.S. government is to guarantee the security of the American people,” McCain, R-Ariz., said in a joint statement with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

More

It is a shame that the only thing that will make people remember and realize who and what these people are would be another terrorist attack on American soil.  In today’s world of instant gratification, the public’s memory is very, very short.  In today’s world of me-first culture and liberal-biased media, I severely doubt the US would’ve been able to defeat Germany in WWII or won the Cold War under Reagan.

Parker: Prez Pushes ‘Responsibility’ — Except About Sex

By Star Parker
January 26, 2009

In these uncertain times, some things remain constant. One is the arrival each Jan. 22 of tens of thousands of pro-life Americans to Washington, D.C., to note the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision and to mourn.

Forty-eight million American children, given the gift of life, but deprived of seeing the light of day, have been destroyed in the womb since that 22nd of January in 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion.

So, again this year they came.

Change really is not such a new idea in America. They have been coming to Washington seeking change now for 36 years.

More

If a people are judged on how it treats its most vulnerable members, then our society is an abject failure.

Abortion is nothing but murder, pure and simple, and anyone who participates, defends it, or authorizes it in an official capacity is guilty of murder, pure and simple.  They will have to answer before the Judgment Seat when they did for their sins and crimes.

With the last contested election for RNC Chairman back in 1997 -when Colorado Committeeman Jim Nicholson was elected as the “surprise” choice, it’s easy to ask whether this is all necessary.

Barber: Change We Never Imagined

Well, the high-sheen veneer and cult-of-personality euphoria surrounding America’s new oratory endowed president looks to be dissolving rather quickly. While millions had hoped for a political “messiah,” it’s fast becoming evident that, instead, we’ve stuck ourselves with an extreme leftist ideologue whose brand of “change we can believe in” is, in fact, “change we never imagined.” (Sorry to burst the Barack bandwagon bubble, but I say it like I see it.)

The examples are piling up in terms of the radical pro-abortion polices he’s planning to implement, the many-times-failed Marxist fiscal policies he’s promised to test yet again, and — relative to his national security goals — the noxiously naive peacenik policies that have Mahmoud and Osama giggling themselves to sleep at night.

But on issues involving marriage, family and sexual morality, Obama’s been even more brazen than some of his most ardent detractors could have expected. Literally within minutes after he took the oath of office, the official White House webpage was updated — under the heading of “The Agenda: Civil Rights” — to detail his wholesale “support for the LGBT (homosexual activist) community.” His stated plans include the following:

Yes, the changes outlined herein are those that will push the US off the cliff into a chasm of immorality, sin, and deviation, from which there will be no way to climb out of.  With Europe already having fallen into it a long time ago, the US was the last bastion of Western Civilization to hold on to the values that made it what it is.  With the US gone down into that same black hole, Western Civilization has ended.  Maybe not right away but as sure as the earth rotates around the sun, the end will come.

We don’t need any Muslim terrorists to bring down the West, we have done it ourselves with the ill-informed, ignorant, immoral majority of us voting to elect this demon of Change, Hussein into the White House.

ABC Spins New Senate Pick as a ‘Conservative Democrat’

NewsBusters

On Friday’s “Good Morning America,” reporter John Berman spun Representative Kristen Gillibrand, the soon-to-be announced senator from New York, as a “conservative Democrat.” Although she is only beginning her second term in the House, Gillibrand has been endorsed by the aggressively pro-abortion group NARAL. According to the New York Observer, she supports gay marriage.

Additionally, the American Conservative Union ranked her voting record as a meager eight. During the segment, Berman explained that the issue of gun rights prompted the label: “Now, the Gillibrand pick is not without controversy itself. She is a conservative Democrat, favoring gun rights. And the pick has upset some more liberal Democrats.” Gillibrand also opposed the TARP bailout legislation.

“Conservative Democrat.”  Now that’s an oxymoron if I ever heard one.  The two are like matter and anti-matter.  If they touch there is an explosion that annihilates everything around it.

Republicans Unveil Alternative Stimulus Package

WASHINGTON – Top Republican lawmakers on Friday unveiled a plan for tax cuts and other steps meant to pull the battered US economy out of its slump after White House talks with President Barack Obama.

The blueprint, anchored on a series of tax-cut proposals and an effort to prop up sagging US home values, came with the Senate and House of Representatives looking to send Obama a stimulus bill by February 16.

Republicans have fiercely opposed a Democratic bill that comprises 550 billion dollars in spending and 275 billion dollars in tax cuts, charging it is too big, would do little to restore growth, feeds too many pet projects, and kicks in too late.

Newsmax

Well at least they’re doing something instead of rolling over and playing dead for the Dims like the GOP Senators are doing.  At least they have an alternative plan they can hold up, even though it has a snowball’s chance in Hell of becoming law, to say, see, we told you so.  I guess the Repubs in the House are not quite as wimpy and subservient to the Dims as those in the Senate.

Republicans Craft Careful ‘Resistance’ in Congress

Fox News

Rest assured, Republicans in Congress will put up a “strong, principled resistance” to the Democratic majority when called for, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Friday.

But with Republicans’ numbers diminished in the Senate and virtually weightless in the House of Representatives, mounting that resistance will be no easy task.

The GOP, wounded badly in the 2006 and 2008 elections, is still trying to rally and redefine itself, not only to make gains in 2010 but to put its stamp on policy.

To do so, McConnell and other Republican leaders plan to strike a fine balance between bipartisan cooperation and thorn-in-the-side politics.

What the Heck do they want to do any “bipartisan cooperation” for?  It is the spirit of “bipartisan cooperation” that has gotten us into this hole, playing nice and cozying up to the Dims so they can stab us in the back and laugh at us after we have given them what they want.

As proven by the inept McLame, bipartisanship with this gang of Dims is a loser’s game.  They need to act like the opposition and oppose instead of cooperate with the thieves to get their own little slice of the loot.

They need to fight the Dims at every turn and even if they lose let the Dims know that they are coming and a force to be reckoned with.  One reason why so many people turned against the GOP is that it began acting so much like the Dims that there was virtually no difference between the two parties and why would anyone want to elect a Dim-Lite instead of a true Dim.

I’m sick of the word bipartisanship.  When the Dims ever show even a tiny speck of bipartisanship to us?  They talk a good talk but they sure can’t walk the walk.  I say fight ‘em.

Reid eyeing amendments to SCHIP bill

The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Friday he may allow Republicans to offer amendments to the children’s healthcare legislation when he brings it to the floor next week.

Reid said he will review the amendments, which must be filed by Monday night, and then decide whether to allow the chamber to vote on them during floor debate.

But Reid left the option open to seek to cut off debate.

“I hope I do not have to file cloture,” Reid said at a news conference touting the legislation, which would add $31.5 billion in funding for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and, Democrats say, expand coverage to 3.9 million kids and raise enrollment in the program to about 10 million.

More

Reid is such a lying sack of monkey stuff.  He says he’ll look at the amendments with no promise he’ll let them come up for a vote, which means none of them ever will.  See how cleverly he has already left himself a way out?

He just says that to look good when he has no intention of ever letting it happen.

Lying hypocrite like all the others.

Brown: Team Obama Has Serious Scandal Problems

By Floyd and Mary Beth Brown
January 24, 2009

The news is full of stories about how Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich attempted to sell Barack Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder. But media have been hesitant to show the pattern of close Obama associates involved in scandal.

“‘Pay to play’ means you’ve got to give something to get something,” said Alan Lichtman, professor of history at American University. “So, you want a contract, you want a job, you’ve got to give something to the decision maker.” It is an epidemic amongst FOBs — friends of Barack.

FOB Bill Richardson recently withdrew his name from nomination for Commerce secretary due to a grand jury investigation. He is accused of taking $100,000 from another FOB, David Rubin, president of the CDR Financial Products, Inc. “I have been an unabashed supporter of Democratic causes and public figures, especially those like Richardson, who support a liberal, inclusive agenda,” Rubin said.

Those of us with any intelligence and moral standards have known this for a long, long time.  But it is like the old question, if a tree falls in the forest and no one sees it, does it make a sound?  The new question is, if Hussein and his buddies get caught in political scandals and corruption and the media refuses to report it, did it really happen?

Just like during the election, the MSM will bury, ignore, cover up, and spin anything and everything that could negatively impact the reign of their Chosen One.  The only truth will have to come from conservative media outlets which only conservatives, who already know the truth, read and believe.

The brainwashed masses will go on being brainwashed by the biased, liberal media in alliance with Hussein, who will continue to lead us to the brink and over it.

When the President of the United States couldn’t even get security clearance for a job with the CIA, FBI, or NSA, which he now controls, something is seriously wrong with the world.

Kincaid: Geithner Accused Of Lying About Tax Cheating

By Cliff Kincaid
January 24, 2009

Art Cashin, one of the talking heads on CNBC, said early on Thursday morning that the stock market was going down in part because of a lack of confidence caused by the failure of the Senate to quickly confirm Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary. This was the party line of the Wall Street insiders who have a special interest in getting Geithner confirmed. Later on that day, Geithner was endorsed 18-5 by the Senate Finance Committee. A full Senate vote on the nomination may be held on Monday.

The American people can’t be blamed for thinking that if a tax cheat inspires confidence on Wall Street and can get an overwhelmingly positive vote in a Senate committee, the nation must indeed be headed for financial ruin.

But Geithner not only got caught cheating on his taxes, he is now being accused of lying about his cheating during his confirmation hearing when he attempted to blame the problem on his TurboTax computer software program.

More

Yet another sign that the US has lost complete control of its senses and has already dived off the deep end into madness, as if we needed any more, if this man is confirmed.  Would you hire this man to do your taxes?  Would you hire this man to do anything?  Yet he will soon be your Secretary of the Treasury unless the earth moves or something.

I need a Tylenol.

Seriously, I now have to go contact my worthless US Senators yet again about this tragedy of justice.  I still cannot believe how anyone, no matter how ignorant or corrupt they may be, could get away with confirming this cheat, thief, and crook to a US Cabinet post.

Dear Senator Worthless,

Now that it has come out that Geithner not only cheated on his taxes but lied about it, there is no way in Hell ANYBODY in their right mind could vote to confirm him as Secretary of the Treasury.  Only a total and complete moron or fool, or worse yet, a crook themself, would vote to confirm such a criminal.  Why isn’t this tax cheat and thief in jail?  You know damn well that if I did what he did that is exactly where I would be.  Why not him?  You tell me.

And you had better not vote to confirm him or it will only implicate you in his crimes and it will be severely held against you in the future.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW GEITHNER TO BECOME SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY!!!!!

Under Obama, US-China ties may face shaky start

By FOSTER KLUG
Associated Press
January 24, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) – Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has said no nation is more important to the United States than China. But ties between the two powers may be off to a rocky start just days into the Obama administration.

In his inaugural address Tuesday, President Barack Obama spoke of how earlier generations of Americans had “faced down fascism and communism.” China’s state broadcaster quickly faded out the audio of its live broadcast, the camera cutting back to a flustered studio anchor.

Then, on Thursday, Obama’s choice to lead the Treasury Department, Timothy Geithner, wrote that Obama believes China is “manipulating” its currency, which American manufacturers say Beijing does to make its goods cheaper for U.S. consumers and American products more expensive in China.

More

Well, this is certainly good news considering I have been reading a lot lately about how China now owns about half the USA, thanks to people like Henry Kissinger and the man who is about to become our Sec. of the Treasury despite the fact that he cheated on his taxes and lied about it, Geithner.  I have read where their tentacles go deep into China and covertly want China to have more power and influence over what goes on in the US, and through that extension, the rest of the world, so that they and their cronies on Wall St. can make more money at the expense of our country and its economy.

If this is true, and China is now mad at us, thanks to Hussein, I don’t know if that is bad or good.  Although most things lately having to do with the Hussein regime have been bad so I see no reason why this should be any different.

Senate picks cast governors in unflattering light

By BETH FOUHY
Associated Press
January 24, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) – The departure of four sitting Democratic senators this year has cast a new – and at times, unflattering – light on the nation’s governors and their outsize power to fill Senate vacancies.

While governors must call a special election to replace members of the House who resign or die before their term is up, 38 states allow governors the sole power to appoint an interim senator, according to the National Council of State Legislatures.

Just nine states require a special election to fill a Senate vacancy. In three other states – Hawaii, Utah and Wyoming – governors must select a candidate from a list of prospective appointees submitted by representatives of the departing incumbent’s political party.

More

If it was up to me, there would be no governors making appointments, there would be special elections held immediately to fill the vacancy.

But then if it was up to me, Senators would be appointed by each state’s legislatures as originally intended by the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 3, and be beholden to the state itself and its needs and wishes instead of political parties, lobbyists, and voters.

Will the Armed Forces Fail Next?

Will the Armed Forces Fail Next?

By James Jay Carafano

It’s become a real trend: Big companies turn to the government to plead for hard cash. And politicians are listening — which is a problem.

In spending public dollars to pump up the private sector, Washington risks turning the Pentagon into a carbon copy of the bad businesses the government insists on bailing out. The problem is, when the Pentagon loses out to the competition, it endangers freedom and the nation’s future.

Everybody wants the government’s (i.e., the taxpayers’) money. Joplin, Mo., wants $8 million for two parking garages. Carmakers want a bailout.

What Joplin, Detroit, and everybody else wants adds up to about a trillion dollars to “stimulate” the economy. At the same time, the same politicians who want to throw money at almost everything often railed about deficit spending in the Bush administration. So to prove they are not as profligate as they really are, they are promising to not waste money.

“We’re going to have to make some hard choices in the months ahead about how to invest these tax dollars,” President Barack Obama declared in a pre-inauguration speech to the Democratic Governor’s Association.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,482365,00.htm l

Hussein has shown many times how he has no respect for and hates the military.  Being a student of the radical Left that is to be expected.

I already figured he would gut defense spending and throw it towards socialist projects.  Soft on defense, soft on immigration, it is as if he is just inviting the terrorists to come on over and attack us.

I have also read other accounts of how he wants to create a peace corps-style paramilitary national police force to rival the army, thereby draining even more funds from it.  I just wonder if he is going to call it the SS or the Gestapo.

Prez Zings Gop Foe In A $timulating Talk

NY Post

WASHINGTON — President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

One White House official confirmed the comment but said he was simply trying to make a larger point about bipartisan efforts.

More

So, this is what Hussein means by “inclusiveness” and “coming together,” eh?  Already trying to tell us who we may and who we may not listen to?  Who does he think he is?  If he has already taken this tone can a revival of the Fairness Doctrine be far behind?

After only a couple of days the snake already begins to show his true colors.  A megalomaniac dictator in the making.  Already laying the groundwork for his Thought Police and Mind Crimes Unit to control what we may read, listen to, say, think, and do.  This is a very dangerous foe we are dealing with, we are finding out very early.

The condescending and arrogant tone he took with his comments to the opposition lawmakers only reinforces this assertion.  It will be his country and things will be done his way, end of story.  No compromise, no negotiation.  Like many people I have known, he will pretend to listen for show and then do what he intended to do anyway.  With people like that I always wonder why they even bother to act like they are listening to the other side when it is all a big sham and waste of everybody’s time.

I would infer that we need to do exactly the opposite of anything Hussein says we should do, because if he says it, obviously it is wrong.

In some countries, everyone has to agree with whatever the leader says, but we have not reached that point yet here in America.

Not yet, anyway, but the time might come sooner than we might realize.

3 news agencies refuse to distribute Obama photo

By DAVID BAUDER
Associated Press
January 22, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) — Three news agencies refused to distribute White House-provided photos of President Barack Obama in the Oval Office on Wednesday, arguing that access should have been provided to news photographers.

The Associated Press, Reuters and Agence France Presse said the White House was breaking with longstanding tradition in not allowing news photographers to capture the president at work in the Oval Office on his first day.

“We are not distributing what are, in effect, visual press releases,” said Michael Oreskes, managing editor for U.S. news at the AP.

The news agencies have used White House-provided images in the past for areas in the White House where media access is generally not permitted, such as the Situation Room or the private residence. But they contend that the Oval Office is the public office of the president and photographers should have access rather than rely on a government handout.

More

I wonder if the media is now experiencing a little bit of buyer’s remorse, or in their case, kingmaker’s remorse.

To be rejected on the first day by the very One they put in power in the first place.  My, my.

Perhaps he will begin to get slightly less favorable coverage now, instead of ‘complete adoration,’ now maybe only ‘almost complete adoration.’

Photographing the Presidency

See it here.

Some nice pictures in here.  Almost a tribute from one of GWB’s worst enemies in the press, Time Magazine (in partnership with CNN).  He must’ve made quite an impression on the photographers who covered him to enable them to have the guts to get this done on the website of Time.

Hopefully history will be much, much kinder to GWB than his contemporaries were, unless the revisionist socialists rewrite to further their agenda.

Chavez: Closing Guantanamo No Solution

By Linda Chavez
January 23, 2009

President Obama is learning it is a lot easier to reverse unpopular positions of his predecessor than it is to come up with better ones of his own. On Thursday, he signed executive orders aimed at shutting down the prison at Guantanamo Bay, which houses some of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. His orders also restricted interrogation methods that can be used by the CIA to elicit information from suspects and eliminated secret overseas detention facilities run by the CIA. Earlier, he suspended military commission hearings that were established to hear cases against those held at Guantanamo, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

Now he has to decide what to do with the 245 men held at Guantanamo. And, if he is lucky enough to see Osama bin Laden or Ayman al-Zawahiri captured on his watch, he’ll have to decide what to do with them. Ensure they’re read their Miranda rights and appointed taxpayer-funded legal counsel, perhaps?

More

I believe that in his arrogant ignorance or utter naivety that Hussein opened a Pandora’s Box of trouble with his asinine closure of Gitmo and suspension or disbandment of the military tribunals.  And like Linda Chavez says, now he has no idea of how to get the proverbial genie back in the bottle, and it will come back to haunt him and bite him on the butt some day.  I just worry that many, many Americans will suffer severely for this buffoon’s idiocy.  His lack of experience, knowledge, and any speck of morality or wisdom is very troubling.

Limbaugh: They’re Poor Winners, Too

By David Limbaugh
January 23, 2009

Leftists are always lecturing Republicans and conservatives on the importance of civility and bipartisanship yet revealing, whether winner or losing, that they are the ones who need lessons in manners and collegiality.

If you aren’t convinced of the left’s nonpareil arrogance and nastiness from observing their behavior toward President Bush and Vice President Cheney for the past eight years, then contrast the behavior of Mr. Bush’s staff leaving office and that of Mr. Clinton’s, who literally trashed the White House like juvenile delinquents.

Fast-forwarding to this week, did you see Obama supporters booing President Bush at the inauguration, singing, “Na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye”? Pure class.

More

Like I’ve said before in other posts, you can’t deal with this deranged bunch of psychopathic lunatics like you would deal with sentient beings.  No matter how you treat him, a tiger won’t transform from a powerful, vicious killer into a pussycat, any more than a liberal can transform into a civil, thinking person.  The only thinking they do is how to destroy you.

Dealing with them as if they are rational only leads to you getting your butt kicked, as in the elections of 2006 and 2008.  Back to the tiger analogy, if a tiger is after your blood, you can’t negotiate a truce with him, you have to fight him to protect yourself, just like you can’t negotiate with the Left, you have to fight them to reverse the dismal tide of change and the socialist revolution they are actively working to impose on the US.  Trying to negotiate and compromise only gets you eaten up in both cases.

Malkin: The John Murtha Jihadist Correctional Facility

By Michelle Malkin
January 23, 2009

Get this: King of Pork John Murtha, the 19-term Democratic congressman from western Pennsylvania, now wants to welcome a flood of Guantanamo Bay jihadists into his district. I don’t want to hear a single word of protestation from the constituents who put this money-grubbing, security-undermining fool back into office. As you vote, so shall you reap.

Murtha audaciously expressed his hope to house Gitmo detainees after President Barack Obama circulated his draft executive order to shut the facility down by the end of the year. “Sure, I’d take ‘em,” Murtha glibly retorted. “They’re no more dangerous in my district than in Guantanamo.” Murtha blustered that there was “no reason not to put ‘em in prisons in the United States and handle them the way they would handle any other prisoners.”

More

I seriously wonder if Murtha suffered a severe brain injury while he was in the army.  How did this racist, prejudiced, corrupt idiot get reelected?

In my opinion, Murtha should be charged and tried for treason over a number of comments.  He should, in fact, be in prison for Abscam.

As for the terrorists, to me, the only rights they have are to a bullet in the back of the head and a piece of ground out back to bury them in.

I like Michelle.  She tells it like it is and holds back no punches.

Ex-Gitmo detainee joins al-Qaida in Yemen

Associated Press
January 23, 2009

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) — An Internet posting purportedly by al-Qaida in Yemen says the group’s No. 2 is a Saudi national who is a former Guantanamo detainee.

The Yemeni group – known as “al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula” – posted the statement this week on a militant Web site that regularly carries al-Qaida messages.

It says the man returned to his home in Saudi Arabia after his release from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba about a year ago and from there went to Yemen to join the terror group.

I’m going to email this short article to make sure that Hussein (the one in the White House) reads it.  Or at least one of his flunkies.  Not that it will do a bit of good.  I only hope at least ONE Repub Congressman has the nerve to bring this up if they hold hearings on what to do with Guantanamo and the terrorists incarcerated therein.

Will the next GOP Leader please stand up?

Bobby Eberle
The Loft at GOPUSA

Since the Republican Revolution of 1994, the Republican Party has lost its way. It moved from the party of reformists and smaller government advocates to a group who embraced big spending and big government. The party is certainly at a crossroads, and the only way to get back on track is to bring in new leadership and return to our conservative roots.

The first part of that recipe — bringing in new leadership — begins in one week. Next Friday, members of the Republican National Committee will meet in Washington, DC to elect a new national chairman. This vote is vitally important because it will show Republicans around the country if the party is serious about changing directions and rejecting the status quo.

On January 30, the national committeemen, national committeewomen, and state chairmen of the fifty states and other territories will vote to determine the next party leadership. There are 168 votes, total, for this election. The six candidates are as follows:

My first choice would be None of the Above.  But since he isn’t running my second choice would be resurrecting Ronald Reagan.  But since the only One who can do that is in Heaven with His Father right now, my third choice, by process of elimination, would be going back to Ken Blackwell, for lack of a better alternative.  This is based on his writings that I have read and all his resounding endorsements from people I respect and admire and listen to and read regularly.

I seriously wish we would have a real conservative with charisma, principles, values, strength, courage, and backbone to stand up and lead us from the Wilderness to the Promised Land again.

Anything but the status quo.  I would like to think it couldn’t get any worse, but I know deep down it can if the wrong choice is made again.

Aide: Paterson picks Gillibrand as next NY senator

By MICHAEL GORMLEY
Associated Press
January 23, 2009

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. David Paterson has picked Democratic U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand to fill New York’s vacant U.S. Senate seat, an aide to the governor said early Friday, a day after Caroline Kennedy abruptly withdrew from consideration.

Gillibrand, a second-term lawmaker from upstate New York, will be named to fill the seat vacated when Hillary Rodham Clinton resigned to become secretary of state in the Obama administration, the aide said, speaking on condition of anonymity because an announcement hadn’t been made. An announcement was scheduled for later Friday.

Gillibrand’s office didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.

She was considered one of the top contenders in Paterson’s selection process, along with Kennedy and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

It definitely could’ve been a lot worse.  And like was said earlier, with that idiotic, uber-Liberal Paterson, this was probably the best we could’ve hoped for in this situation.

Eye on 2010, Texas senator ready to challenge Dems

y SUZANNE GAMBOA
Associated Press
January 23, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — John Cornyn, the conservative Republican senator from Texas, played the spoilsport amid all the celebrations for President Barack Obama and the Democrats.

Hours before Obama was sworn in on Tuesday, Cornyn gummed up plans for a speedy Senate vote confirming Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state, saying he still had concerns about foreign donations made to a foundation headed by Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton.

He delayed the inevitable a day. Clinton won Senate approval by a vote of 94-2, with Cornyn’s support.

More

Hopefully Cornyn will be more successful in his goals of obstructing other Hussein and Dimocrap agenda items than he was with Hellary.  At least he is more conservative than most of the mealy mouthed GOP wimps in the Senate, not that that is saying much.  He is a far sight better than what I have representing me.

Officials: Obama to reverse abortion policy

By LIZ SIDOTI and MATTHEW LEE
Associated Press
January 23, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a long-expected move, President Barack Obama plans to sign an executive order ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option, officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

Liberal groups welcomed the decision while abortion rights foes criticized the president. Known as the “Mexico City policy,” the ban has been reinstated and then reversed by Republican and Democratic presidents since GOP President Ronald Reagan established it in 1984. President Bill Clinton ended the ban in 1993, but President George W. Bush re-instituted it in 2001 as one of his first acts in office.

The policy bans U.S. taxpayer money, usually in the form of U.S. Agency for International Development funds, from going to international family planning groups that either offer abortions or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion. It is also known as the “global gag rule,” because it prohibits taxpayer funding for groups that lobby to legalize abortion or promote it as a family planning method.

1-22-09 More Madness From the Liberal Left

More on this one:

My “To Don’t” List for the Right

Andy Levy
Big Hollywood

The only thing worse than bad winners are sore losers, and we’ve had enough of them for the past eight years. So with that in mind, in the wake of today’s historic inauguration, here’s my Handbook For The Loyal Opposition, 2009 edition – a “To Don’t List,” if you will. Or even if you won’t.

DON’T question the motives – question the policy. When you disagree with Obama’s policies, say so, and make it clear why. But remember that President Obama is doing what he thinks is best for the country, as President Bush did. Both men love America and want what’s best for her. End of story.

DON’T make it personal. We don’t need another Derangement Syndrome. We don’t need people doing things like emphasizing Obama’s middle name in a derogatory fashion. How anyone would think that’s beneficial to their cause, or to the country as a whole, is beyond me. Also, it’s not even clever. Neither are smushwords like BushHitler, or sillywords like Rethuglicans and Dhimmicrats.

DON’T cozy up to and champion foreign dictators and despots. Sean Penn is an ass. No reason to be like him. ‘Nuff said. (Corollary: Don’t cozy up to and champion foreign dictators and despots and then act outraged when people question your patriotism.)

More

While I understand where some of you are coming from, I still advocate a more aggressive attack against the agenda of the Left in all of its various forms.  Passivity had failed horrendously.  The old rules of engagement have been abrogated by the enemy on the Left and new marching orders need to be issued to counteract their superiority in numbers, power, and media coverage.

Going out and talking nicely to recruit new members is all well and good but the Left has already been doing that and they have the power of the courts, the media, and the education system on their side.  You can’t use reason in a fight against madness.

I used to coach sports so I like to use football analogies:  the best defense is a good offense.  We need to be more aggressive in our defense against the attacks from the Left.  Right now, since they have all the advantages, they are in full attack mode.  We need to counterattack, knock them around, and get them on the defensive.

For example, case in point, the Cabinet confirmations in the Senate.  Instead of aggressively attacking the misconduct and lack of qualifications by Barrack Hussein Obama’s picks, the Repubs acquiesce by rolling over and playing dead, bypassing a perfect opportunity to inflict some damage and expose BHO’s agenda for what it is, which to me speaks more of surrender than anything else.

I know you’re going to say to do that we need to elect people who will stand up for their principles and fight to do what’s right and in order to do that we need to recruit more conservatives to vote for people like that.  And I would say we need people to stand up and fight like that to get elected, if any can be found.

That is what I mean by fighting back against the Left in any way possible, not just in the “nice” and “civil” ways, using every means at our disposal to derail the intentions of the Left before they derail the country, whatever they may be, be it blogs, emails, demonstrations, protests, boycotts, lawsuits.  One of my team’s mottos was “Whatever It Takes” and that is the kind of attitude we need to take into our battle with BHO and the Left in whatever form it assumes.

While some of you might disagree, I have no problem with showing my contempt for the man and his ideas by calling a Hussein a Hussein.  That is after all his legal middle name.  After all the attacks on my man in the White House for the last eight years, I don’t mind calling the man by his middle name because it is what it is.  Again, when it comes to madmen, you can’t fight disrespect with respect because all you get in return is more disrespect.  The treatment of President Bush and the GOP in Congress by the Dimocraps after so many attempts to “cross the aisle” and get along, is a perfect example of this failed approach.

I guess what I mean to say is that it doesn’t matter how you treat this enemy, they are still going to treat you the same way, so you gain nothing by treating them respect and in some ways lose standing with third party observers by taking the disrespect and not standing up for yourself and defending yourself more aggressively.

In this day and age I believe the cause would get more respect and recruits by a show of strength and forcefulness than by a show of humility.  At least for the people where I live.  If you talk nice to them they will never get it but if you pound them in the head a few times, then they might begin to understand a little more.  By the way, that’s an analogy, I don’t mean it literally.

What we need is a champion like Ronald Reagan.  He stood up and told it like it was and didn’t take anything off of the Dims or the press.  Granted neither were quite as rabid back then as they are now, but still that is what we need, a leader who will take the fight to the enemy instead of constantly being on the defensive, and take no prisoners.

White House may put hold on offshore drilling plan

WASHINGTON, Jan 21 (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama may order a hold on a proposal issued in the final days of the Bush administration to expand offshore drilling in previously banned areas, an Interior Department official told Reuters on Wednesday.

Shortly after being sworn in on Tuesday, Obama ordered all federal agencies and departments to halt pending regulations until they can be reviewed by incoming staff.

An Interior official said the department is waiting for clarification from the White House on whether a proposed draft of a five-year plan to lease areas in the Atlantic and Pacific waters for oil and natural gas drilling can go forward.

Wounded vets walk out during inaugural ball concert

An inaugural ball honoring U.S. military veterans ended in a kerfluffle as several veterans walked out when a musical act’s attempt at humor backfired.

During the Heroes Red, White & Blue Inaugural Ball honoring the nation’s veterans, a vocalist with George Clinton and the P. Funk All-Stars held up a white towel with large block letters saying “[Expletive] GEORGE,” perturbing many audience members who walked out after the display, interpreting it as a jab at the outgoing commander-in-chief, George W. Bush.

A spokeswoman for the ball’s organizers said the sign was inappropriate.

Another example of what you can expect from the Left who have no respect and play by no rules but their own.  If the vets weren’t wounded they should’ve used their military training to charge the stage and confiscate the offending rag.  And if anybody really believes it wasn’t directed toward George Bush, I’ve got some prime Atlantic coastal land in Kansas I’d like to sell cheap.

Its call sign has always been Air Force One. But on Tuesday, it was Special Air Mission 28000, as former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura returned home to Texas on a plane full of family, friends, former staff and memories of eight years in the White House.

The former president and his wife thanked each passenger, showing the thoughtfulness and grace so characteristic of this wonderful American family.

A video tribute produced warm laughter and inevitable tears. There was no bitterness, but rather a sense of gratitude — gratitude for the opportunity to serve, for able and loyal colleagues, and above all for our country and its people.

Yet, as Mr. Bush left Washington, in a last angry frenzy his critics again distorted his record, maligned his character and repeated untruths about his years in the Oval Office. Nothing they wrote or said changes the essential facts.

Great testimony by someone who was there.

Again, GW Bush was a man of honesty, integrity, decency, and character and even if he did get a few things wrong he was basically a good President and an outstanding Commander in Chief, who protected life and kept us safe.

His enemies on the Left and in the Media do him and all conservatives a disservice with their continual baseless ravings, rantings, and attacks.  But we have come to expect no less from them.  These days, any time you stand up for what is right, you should be prepared to be knocked down harshly by the Left and their allies in the press.

Adamo: Obama Mania Will Eventually Collide With Reality

By Christopher G. Adamo
January 22, 2009

Conservatives, real conservatives, are by now thoroughly nauseated from all of the inaugural gushing and fawning over Obama. But if they thought that this slobber-fest was going to end now that he has assumed the presidency, they are going to be sorely disappointed. The leftist cheerleaders will continue trumpeting the supposed grandeur and majesty of this day long after its fabricated luster has thoroughly dulled in the eyes of the thinking public.

Such unbridled jubilation is particularly disturbing, given the degree to which those on the left sought to demean and undermine every facet of the Bush Presidency from the very day the U.S. Supreme Court told the State of Florida to stop playing games with the recount, thus declaring George W. Bush the winner of the 2000 election.

Absolutely awesome article so full of truth and telling it like it is without holding anything back.

It almost makes me feel optimistic that there is hope for the future.  Almost.

Islam film Dutch MP to be charged

Geert Wilders lives under police protection because of death threats
A Dutch court has ordered prosecutors to put a right-wing politician on trial for making anti-Islamic statements.

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders made a controversial film last year equating Islam with violence and has likened the Koran to Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

“In a democratic system, hate speech is considered so serious that it is in the general interest to… draw a clear line,” the court in Amsterdam said.

Mr Wilders said the judgement was an “attack on the freedom of expression”.

“Participation in the public debate has become a dangerous activity. If you give your opinion, you risk being prosecuted,” he said.

Not only he, but all Dutch citizens opposed to the “Islamisation” of their country would be on trial, Mr Wilders warned.

“Who will stand up for our culture if I am silenced?” he added.

With Hussein and the Dimocraps in control, this is what they want the US to be like.  Very, very scary, especially for conservatives who treasure their First Amendment rights.

Bozell: Inauguration: Joy Or Pain?

By Brent Bozell
January 22, 2009

Walking the freezing streets of Washington, D.C., at 5 a.m. on the morning of the inauguration, you could already feel the excitement. In a sense, it’s understandable that so many in the press went overboard in their coverage Tuesday: History was made before our eyes. I didn’t mind it, really. But what is offensive was the constant refrain that “America comes together” during inaugurations. This is a line applied to Democrats. Republicans are not awarded that courtesy by the press.

The most obvious contrast comes from the Associated Press. On Jan. 12, 2001, the AP headline was “Texans’ inaugural ball will be definitive Texas excess.” Reporter Suzanne Gamboa asserted: “It would be redundant to say this party put on by Texans is big, but is it big enough to meet the definition of Texas excess? You bet.” The AP noted $1.75 million in corporate sponsorships, and trotted out the usual “watchdog groups” to lament the lobbyist access through excess.

More

The press and media, particularly the AP, have always been nothing but biased and hypocritical in their coverage of Hussein/Dimocraps/liberals and Bush/Republicans/conservatives.  They will not change.  The sad part is that the sheep eat what the MSM feeds them and don’t complain.

Even if they did complain, like I have many times, it doesn’t change anything.  The Left in the media are so convinced that they are correct and know more than anybody else that they do not listen to dissent and claim it is all either racism or ignorance on the part of conservatives.  Such is the depth to which the disgraced profession has plunged.

Morris: The Obama Presidency: Here Comes Socialism

By Dick Morris
January 22, 2009

2009-2010 will rank with 1913-14, 1933-36, 1964-65 and 1981-82 as years that will permanently change our government, politics and lives. Just as the stars were aligned for Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson and Reagan, they are aligned for Obama. Simply put, we enter his administration as free-enterprise, market-dominated, laissez-faire America. We will shortly become like Germany, France, the United Kingdom, or Sweden — a socialist democracy in which the government dominates the economy, determines private-sector priorities and offers a vastly expanded range of services to many more people at much higher taxes.

Obama will accomplish his agenda of “reform” under the rubric of “recovery.” Using the electoral mandate bestowed on a Democratic Congress by restless voters and the economic power given his administration by terrified Americans, he will change our country fundamentally in the name of lifting the depression. His stimulus packages won’t do much to shorten the downturn — although they will make it less painful — but they will do a great deal to change our nation.

More

Wow.  What a story.  If I would’ve read it even five or six years ago I would’ve thought it was a plot of some science fiction story set in the near future, but reading it today I can definitely see it all coming true right before my very eyes.

I would tend to agree with him that Hussein will move very quickly to make the country socialist in as short a time as possible just in case his days might be numbered.  And with the Dims in solid control of the legislative branch with turncoat Repubs, it is all too possible.

As another write wrote elsewhere we are now passed the tipping point, beyond the point of no return, from which there will never be any retreat from this avalanche toward socialism.  Once it becomes established, like FDR’s New Deal and LBJ’s Great Society, there is no way to take it back, we will be stuck with it forever, all to the ruination of our country and our culture.

What I cannot fathom is how so many people do not recognize socialism when they see it or understand its dangers and what it can do to their country.  Do they not know or not remember how many times socialism has failed miserably when tried in other countries?  Yet they want to continue to try the experiment on their own.

This is like lighting a stick of dynamite and thinking it won’t explode this time even though it did every other time somebody tried it.  Or pointing a gun to your head thinking it won’t fire even though it fired every other time you pulled the trigger.

Madness, this is all madness.

PS:  I do not share Morris’s optimism about the GOP’s chances in 2010.  I fear the Hussein euphoria will carry over at the very least two or more years, no matter how many mistakes he makes or how bad he bungles the economy.  With the adoring press and the brainwashed masses mesmerized by the Cult of Personality, I fear he will not be held accountable.  After all, he is the Messiah, who can do no wrong.

Unpardonable: Holder’s Marc Rich Shuffle

By Andrew C. McCarthy
National Review

Eric Holder’s intercession on behalf of fugitive Marc Rich is so inexplicable that he has always viewed ignorance as his best defense. It’s as though Holder believes that a deputy attorney general looks better for having remained studiously unaware of critical facts in a criminal case before throwing his weight around. But that’s Holder’s story, and he’s sticking to it: even if it turns out not to be true.

Holder is President Obama’s choice to become attorney general. That means the Rich case is a big problem for him today—just as it was in 2001, when an outraged Congress demanded an explanation of the controversial affair. President Clinton had pardoned the fugitive financier on the recommendation of Holder, who was then deputy attorney general. The only feeble response Holder could muster was that he didn’t really know much about Rich’s case and that, as Justice’s number two official, he was simply too busy to learn about it.

Clearly, the nominee has calculated that there’s something worse than championing a presidential pardon for a guy like Rich, and that’s knowingly championing such a pardon.

More

This seems to be the Dimocraps and the Clintonistas excuse for everything, to mimic Sergeant Schultz and know nothing, even if it is obviously a blatant lie.  Their plan of action:  go ahead and do it and then deny everything.  And they have the audacity (I like to use that word lately) to accuse the Republicans of corrupt dealings.

The sad part about this is that it won’t matter and Holder will be confirmed just like Hellary, because the media doesn’t care or condones it, and the Repubs don’t have the guts or the backbone to stand up and fight it.  Meanwhile the culture of corruption grows even stronger among the Dimocraps and the Hussein-Clinton administration.

ABC Touts Messages From Kids to Obama: Stop the Wars! Save the Earth!

Newsbusters

“Good Morning America” on Wednesday featured video messages from young children to Barack Obama. GMA news anchor Chris Cuomo asserted that the kids, ranging in age from seven to 17, had “strong opinion[s].” Yet, every single one of these youths spouted the type of liberal propaganda usually reserved for people like Keith Olbermann and not one conservative voice was featured. One young boy sputtered, “Stop the wars. And- because more people die. And it’s just- they don’t want to die. They just die. But they don’t want to die.”

More

Sounds like parrots mimicking speech heard in the DNC headquarters with about the same level of understanding and intelligence, meaning to say, none.  It is shameful and sickening how the MSM is so biased and infatuated with Hussein and how the school children have been brainwashed into believing the lie the man is is truth.

Of course they made a point to only interview “safe” kids that would give the “correct” (as in politically) responses.  If they had any kids give anti-Hussein responses they were quickly edited out and discarded so as to not besmirch The One’s reputation on his Coronation Day.

The way this generation is being raised it might not matter if we manage to stave off socialism because when these completely brainwashed kids are in control that is what they will put in place, if it is not already there.  Then the conquest of Western Civilization will be complete.

Mexican Drug Traffickers Now ‘Greatest Organized Crime Threat’ to U.S.

(CNSNews.com) – Mexican drug trafficking organizations are now the greatest organized crime threat to the United States, according to a recent report released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The National Drug Threat Assessment for 2009, released last month by the Justice Department’s National Drug Intelligence Center, says Mexican drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operate in more than 230 cities across the United States.

These drug syndicates not only smuggle drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border, they also produce drugs here in the United States. Their smuggled products include cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines and marijuana, and their domestically produced products include methamphetamines and marijuana.

More

I couldn’t help myself and just had to laugh as I was reading this story, because like what Sherriff Ed Tom Bell said in “No Country for Old Men,” there’s not much else you can do.

Hussein’s immigration policy will result in even more of this organized Mexican drug crime being imported into the US across porous, open borders all in the name of political gain for his party.  The more Mexicans and illegals the Dims can import into the US and then grant amnesty and citizenship, the more instant votes they will have for years to come from criminals paying them back for making them legal.

How can the man and his cohorts in the Dim Party and the liberal elite look themselves in the mirror knowing the death and destruction they are allowing into the country to be perpetrated against their own citizens, not to mention the transformation of our culture, all so they can hang on to their power and money.

Hussein will not be President of the United States but El Presidente de Mexico Norte.

Is This Guy for Real?

Bobby Eberle
The Loft at GOPUSA

Now that the Senate has rolled over and confirmed Hillary Clinton as secretary of state without so much as a whimper, attention now turns to the confirmation hearing of Tim Geithner. This man was tapped by Obama to be our new treasury secretary… you know… the organization to which you pay your taxes each year. However, it seems that Geithner himself has a hard time paying taxes… several years worth.

Considering that other cabinet-level picks have been rejected and scrutinized for far less serious actions, there is no way that Geithner should be confirmed. Republican senators must make a stand. The media is treating all Obama picks as golden, even if they have more baggage than a Greyhound bus. So, it comes down to the Republicans in the Senate to make the case.

Please go here to contact your senators.

I contacted my Senators the very next day after I learned of this disturbing nomination, for all the good it will do.  One is a dyed in the wool liberal Dim and the other is a RINO.

I have a good idea, though, I’m going to email president@whitehouse.gov and ask him if I cheat and deliberately don’t pay my taxes this year will he put me in charge of the IRS next year?  Of course I will probably get a visit from an IRS secret agent or police instead of getting a top job in government.

Oh, the irony of it all, a tax cheat and thief in charge of the Treasury, a man who ruined the Chicago school system in charge of Education, a man who pardon’s one of the FBI’s most wanted and didn’t even know he was on the Top Ten list, or didn’t care or was paid off to do it, a woman whose best qualification is that she was a First Lady who attended state dinners to be Sec of State.  And the madness marches on toward the End.

US abortion debate altered by Obama presidency

By DAVID CRARY
Associated Press
January 22, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) — The advent of the Obama administration is rousing enthusiasm among abortion-rights supporters and deep anxiety among opponents as both sides mark Thursday’s anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

Abortion-rights groups view President Barack Obama – and the Democratic leadership in Congress – as allies who are likely to ease restrictions on federal funding, broaden family-planning programs, and install federal judges who support the Supreme Court’s landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion.

Anti-abortion activists fear multiple political setbacks and are urging the Republican minority in the Senate to filibuster if necessary.

“The alignment of a hard-core pro-abortion president with pro-abortion Democratic majorities in Congress means that many existing pro-life policies are now in great jeopardy,” Douglas Johnson of the National Right to Life Committee wrote in a memo this month.

More

I was just thinking today as I was reading this story in the paper, what would we do if we found out the government was allowing a select group of people, and even paying them, to kill or execute thousands of people every year legally?  Would we not do all we could do to stop it even if it meant going to war with our own government?  Especially if it was children?

If this was a group of terrorists or criminals or a wacko cult that preyed on children would we not demand our government stop and if they didn’t, take it upon ourselves to stop it without or in spite of or in defiance of our government?  Even if it meant we had to overthrow that government by violence?

But since these children aren’t born yet, we do nothing because we are powerless to stop it.  Those that try wind up in jail.  In order to save lives you have to lose your own and in the end it doesn’t matter because you couldn’t stop it anyway.

I cannot fathom how anybody can consider the unborn, who has form and a soul, less than a person, yet we idly stand by and do nothing while more and more of them are murdered every day with the assent and assistance of our very own government.

All I can do is ask why?

Time for a New International Game Plan

Kim R. Holmes, Ph.D.
The Heritage Foundation

A growing number of the national security chal*lenges America faces are global in nature. Terrorism and the proliferation of nuclear weapons along with the missiles to deliver them merely top the list. The economic crisis of 2008 and Russia’s invasion of Geor*gia, a free and democratic nation looking to enter NATO, demonstrate that America’s interests span the globe. Sadly, the alliances and international institu*tions that we helped create in the past century to deal with such challenges are ill suited to doing so.

The world’s major international institutions and organizations, established in the wake of World War II, have changed dramatically over the decades, yet they have never shed the genetic makeup of their cre*ation. Their original structures fit a particular time, which has long since passed away.

A long and a good read.  Too bad it will never be heeded on this planet and in this millennium.

If it was up to me I would’ve disengaged and withdrawn from the UN decades ago.  I would rather try to go it alone or with a few allies I could trust than to try to get anything done within that useless, worthless, ancient, anti-American, global-socialist dinosaur.  Too often it is used to thwart us and beat us up instead of helping us at the same time we are used by it to fund its socialist, anti-capitalist, anti-life agendas oftentimes completely contradictory to our nation’s policies and values.

The Fallacy of Health Care Reform as Economic Stimulus

Robert Book
The Heritage Foundation

After spending decades trying to reduce health care costs, some commentators and policymakers now argue that health care costs should be increased to stimulate the economy.[1]

At the crux of the argument are the notions that increasing spending on health care will create jobs that can be filled by those losing jobs in other areas of the economy–and that implementing long-proposed reforms (such as an increased emphasis on primary care and large-scale deployment of health IT) will reduce health care costs.

These two arguments are fundamentally at odds with each other. Advocates claim simultaneously that (a) it would stimulate economic growth to spend more money on these reforms, and (b) these reforms would reduce total health care costs–that is, result in spending less money. Perhaps one could make an intelligent argument for either proposition, but it is not possible to make both of those claims and be consistent.

More

I began to laugh at the absurdity of the outlined proposal after reading the very first line, and then it got even more absurd the more I read about it.  It is like the old saying, the Dims and libs who came up with this proposal want to have their cake and eat it too.  Like Mr. Book writes, there is no free lunch.  Somebody somewhere has to pay for it and in this case that somebody is us.

Cheney Speaks Out on Libby

Stephen F. Hayes
The Weekly Standard

Former Vice President Dick Cheney disagreed publicly with his boss just four times in the eight years they served together. Yesterday, however, on the first day after the official end of the Bush administration, Cheney disagreed with George W. Bush once more.

Cheney told THE WEEKLY STANDARD that his former chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, whom he described as a “victim of a serious miscarriage of justice,” deserved a presidential pardon.

Asked for his reaction to Bush’s decision Cheney said: “Scooter Libby is one of the most capable and honorable men I’ve ever known. He’s been an outstanding public servant throughout his career. He was the victim of a serious miscarriage of justice, and I strongly believe that he deserved a presidential pardon. Obviously, I disagree with President Bush’s decision.”

More

From what I know and have read of the story I would have to agree with Cheney.  Libby was the victim of a crazed, rabid Dimocrap lynch mob out for Bush blood and when they couldn’t get it, they settled for Libby instead.  And this is the same group of people that will shuffle much more serious crimes and corruption under the table to approve Geithner, Holder, Hellary, and so on, as Cabinet members and conveniently excuse the dark past of their own Messiah and his associations with terrorists, tax cheats, thieves, communists, and so on.

There is no justice.

Saunders: The Final Bush Pardons

By Debra Saunders
January 21, 2009

On his way out of office, President Bush used his power of the pardon to commute the sentences of former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who had been sentenced to 11 years and 12 years respectively for shooting and wounding a fleeing drug smuggler in 2005 and then covering up the incident. It was the right move.

Ramos and Compean supporters no doubt would have preferred it if Bush had pardoned the agents — which would have cleared their criminal records. In that Bush had stood by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton’s prosecution of the agents, as well as the jury verdicts, this is the best outcome that was to be had.

When Bush commuted the 30-month sentence of Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, he did not fully pardon Libby. He let a $250,000 fine and two years of probation stand, although he did override the prison sentence because it was “excessive.”

More

I wish they would’ve received a full pardon rather than a commutation.  But that is better than nothing.  At least they are free.

I’m pretty sure they’ll be able to make a living writing books on their experiences, doing consulting work, and making money on the speaker tour.  Surely with their notoriety, some conservative with deep pockets or much influence will be able to find them a source of employment.

NY Gov: AG Cuomo being considered for Senate seat

By MICHAEL GORMLEY
Asoociated Press
January 21, 2009

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Gov. David Paterson acknowledged Tuesday that he is considering Attorney General Andrew Cuomo for appointment to the U.S. Senate seat about to be vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The two Democrats had refused since early December to say if Cuomo is in the running, even as the latest polls show New Yorkers narrowly favor him over Caroline Kennedy.

“He has outstanding qualities and is someone I am considering,” Paterson told CBS News at an interview during the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

He also noted that he is considering lesser known candidates as well. Obama nominated Clinton to be his secretary of state, and she is expected to be confirmed in a roll call vote Wednesday.

Well, this is good news because there won’t be another Kennedy to stink up the Senate.  On the other hand whoever they get might not be much better but at least we won’t have to live with the name Kennedy in there much longer after the old goat croaks.

Obama Enters the Great Game

Greg Reeson
The Loft at GOPUSA

Private geopolitical analysis firm STRATFOR published this inauguration day analysis by Dr. George Friedman January 20. It is reprinted here with permission from Strategic Forecasting, Inc.

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will be sworn in on Tuesday as president of the United States. Candidate Obama said much about what he would do as president; now we will see what President Obama actually does. The most important issue Obama will face will be the economy, something he did not anticipate through most of his campaign. The first hundred days of his presidency thus will revolve around getting a stimulus package passed. But Obama also is now in the great game of global competition — and in that game, presidents rarely get to set the agenda.

The names may have changed but it would appear we are involved in a Cold War again with the Russian Empire under Emperor Vlad I.

Obama sworn in, Rice Presidency ends.

The Constitution is quite specific about the requirements for the Presidency, and among those requirements is the recitation of the Oath of Office — word for word, all in the correct order. At Noon on Inauguration Day, 2009, the President-Elect failed to fulfill that requirement, and the results may have been historic.

The failure to properly recite the Oath was not in itself unprecedented; both Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur “flubbed” the Oath, and both were required to retake it shortly thereafter to meet the Constitution’s requirements.

As the terms of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney ended, the Constitutional lack of a new President meant that the office fell to the standing Secretary of State, and so, for a time, America was unwittingly led by its first Black President who also happened to be its first female President, Condoleeza Rice.

At a little after 7PM on Wednesday, January 21, the Chief Justice readministered the Oath, and the 31-hour Rice Presidency came to a quiet close, undoubtedly to be forgotten or ignored by all but historians and Constitutionalists.

He doesn’t impress me with his smarts either.  Never did, in fact.  He is more of an actor acting like a world-saving politician than anything else, dressed up in a slick package courtesy of the adoring press and media and his liberal handlers, with all of his views and instructions given to him by the liberal socialist elite.  He impresses me more as being a figurehead to all of the Left come together in a coalition to destroy the US as it is and turn it into a communist state.

Obama White House Calls for Repealing Defense of Marriage Act

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack H. Obama is poised to be the most pro-homosexual chief executive in history.

Unveiling his agenda Tuesday on the newly refurbished version of the White House Web site, Obama called for the repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), as well as the extension of more than 1,000 federal marriage benefits and of adoption rights to homosexual couples.

The new administration laid out its plans on the Web site–whitehouse.gov–at 12:01 p.m. EST, during Obama’s swearing-in ceremony.

The End is surely near if this becomes a reality.  I don’t see any reason why the Dimocrap dominated Congress won’t accede to his wishes.  The US will begin to follow Europe and the rest of Western Civilization down into a neverending black hole of inexcusable immorality from which it will be impossible to climb back out.  We will go the way of Persia, Babylon, Rome, and countless other civilizations that defied God and made a mockery of His immutable laws.  I am truly outraged and depressed at the same time over what has become of my country.

(Did you notice in the article his policy makes specific mention of using the education of children, to indoctrination or brainwash them with his own specific brand of morality?)

What I wonder is how the States themselves will react, especially those with State Constitutional Amendments that declare marriage to be only between one man and one woman.  What will they do when the Hussein/Pelousy/Reid triumvirate attempts to force them to go against their own state’s constitutions and the wishes of their state’s citizens?  Could a revolt be in the making?

To me this would be something worth seceding for.  Or at the very least, fighting and defying the federal government for.  After all there is no passage in the US Constitution that gives the federal government the power to recognize or force states to recognize any sort of marriage.  Others might disagree but that is how I would go about fighting it, that the feds had no authority to force my state to recognize a marriage from another state that was contrary to my state’s constitution.

Take Action: Goodbye to Gitmo?

In a report released Monday afternoon by the Associated Press, two presidential transition team advisers say President-elect Barack Obama is preparing an executive order to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Sources say the order could be issued as soon as Jan. 20, Obama’s first day in office.

The prison will most likely not close any time soon, however, as nearly 250 Al-Qaeda and Taliban suspects and potential witnesses still occupy the facility. Still, the order would begin action on finding alternate facilities for the jailed detainees.

Bishops call on Obama not to abandon pro-life policies

Washington DC, Jan 19, 2009 / 09:04 pm (CNA).- In a letter made public today, the U.S. bishops ask president-elect Barack Obama to continue President Bush’s pro-life policies particularly on the conscience rights of health care professionals, not providing foreign aid for promoting abortion and embryonic stem cell research.

The letter, sent on January 16 by Cardinal Francis George, the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), notes that he is writing on behalf of all the American bishops in order to assist the new Administration in serving the common good.

After acknowledging that the president-elect will face difficult decisions when he is sworn into office, Cardinal George writes that he anticipates that “some want you to take executive action soon to reverse current policies against government-sponsored destruction of unborn human life.”

More

Good luck with that.

This is a dream, a fantasy, that the most pro-abortion senator and president ever will just suddenly see the light and abandon his loyalty to the Culture of Death.

Because this man was elected by fools, idiots, and morons, millions of lives will be lost, not only here in the US but throughout the world.

It is ironic and hypocritical how the Left, both politicians and the media, crucified Bush for the lives lost in Iraq in a good cause, yet won’t say a word or lift a finger over the countless millions more to be lost through state-sanctioned murder due to their policies as enforced through Hussein.

Reid to let Republicans offer amendments to fair pay bill

The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has extended an Inaugural week olive branch to Republicans, suspending his practice of blocking their amendments on the chamber floor.

Reid has often used complex rules to prevent GOP senators from offering amendments that could muster enough support to undermine Democratic policies, incensing his colleagues on the other side of the aisle.

But Reid has decided to eschew hardball floor tactics during Inauguration week, when President Obama has called on Democrats and Republicans to join together to solve the nation’s economic problems.

More

Mighty nice of his mightiness to do so for one week.  Anything that happens in that one week can be overturned in subsequent weeks when he resumes his practice.  What would’ve been truly bipartisan, and miraculous, would be if he suspended his dictatorial ways for good.

This is just a show, like a tease when you’re never going to get the real thing.

Malkin: And Now, Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Spending Orgy

By Michelle Malkin
January 21, 2009

“The time has come,” President Barack Obama told us in his inaugural address, “to set aside childish things.” He borrowed the line from Corinthians. With the Beltway bread-and-circus show over, President Obama will now get to work on borrowing hundreds of billions of dollars from you, your children and your grandchildren for a doomed fiscal stimulus.

As President Obama basked in the inaugural glow, a dark cloud of reality moved in over the Democrats’ $825 billion plan to rescue the economy. The Congressional Budget Office crunched the numbers and concluded that a huge bulk of the federal spending orgy wouldn’t actually kick in until the recession is waning — if not already over.

The CBO analysis showed that “less than half of the $30 billion in highway construction funds detailed by House Democrats would be released into the economy over the next four years” and “less than $4 billion in highway construction money would reach the economy by September 2010,” according to the Associated Press. And those are generous time estimates given the reality of molasses-slow bidding and contracting processes — bogged down by the usual weight of political wrangling, racial bean-counting and assorted union grievance-mongering.

More

Like I said before, you can scream the truth out as loud as you want but they won’t hear it in DC.

Michelle is absolutely right, we are mortgaging our children’s future so we can live a life of socialistic excess today, nevermind the fact that they may have to live like paupers and curse our graves for stealing from them like this.

If so I hope they curse the right people who got them into the mess but with liberals in charge of rewriting history I doubt it.  They will cast the blame on Bush and the Republicans and praise Hussein and the Dimocraps for trying to save them, just exactly like they did with FDR when they praise his handling of the Depression even though it was his policies that exacerbated and prolonged it.

Sowell: Political Speeches

By Thomas Sowell
January 21, 2009

If making speeches is one of the tests of a President of the United States, then Barack Obama has passed his first test with flying colors. He has understood the varied constituencies, and the various hopes and fears he had to address. He said the kinds of things that all these constituencies wanted to hear.

As a speech, it was the best inaugural address since Ronald Reagan. This is not to judge the substantive merits or demerits of what he said. Anyone who judges any political speech by its substance– much less by what actions follow– is likely to be disappointed.

However, a political speech is more than just a theatrical performance of the moment. The ability to make a speech that connects with a wide range of people can be a political power in itself.

That power enabled Ronald Reagan to put through legislation that created “the Reagan revolution,” even though his party never controlled both houses of Congress while he was in the White House.

Hussein will rule by the Cult of Personality, just like Stalin, like Mao, like Mussolini, like Amin, like his namesake Saddam, like Chavez, like Castro, like Hitler.  He smile and talk good words while he pats you on the back with one hand and stabs you in the back with the other.

No matter how bad he becomes or how much of his background and personality are revealed, there will still be those who worship The One, even as he buries them, both literally and figuratively in a fascist/communist nightmare.

Race has nothing to do with it.  After all everyone forgets that he is only half-black.  The other half is white, what about that?  His race will only be used as a shield to protect him as he goes about with his socialist agenda to destroy the US.  He would still be just as dangerous, malicious, and evil if he was white, red, yellow, green, purple, or blue.

Borelli: Lights Out: JP Morgan Playing Energy Politics

By Tom Borelli
January 21, 2009

BusinessWeek named Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan Chase, as one of the “Best Managers of 2008″ for steering the bank clear of most of the subprime mortgage icebergs that wrecked many of his competitors.

Unfortunately, the managerial skills that enabled Dimon to avoid the worst of the subprime mess are completely missing when it comes to energy policy.

Expressing frustration about U.S. energy policy and its dependence on foreign oil at the Yale University CEO Summit last December, Dimon said, “We need a real energy policy and it’s going to have to include taxing people on energy so that energy costs stay up and people buy smaller cars and smaller homes.”

Speaking on a leadership panel at the Centennial Global Business Summit last October at Harvard University, Dimon also called for higher taxes on energy. He criticized political leaders for lack of leadership “we don’t have the fortitude to tax oil, or to tax BTUs” and he proposed “taxing oil as it’s pumped from the ground, rather than simply taxing gasoline at the pump.”

More

I am so sick of hearing the words “climate change.”  As is illustrated by this story, it is only a scam perpetuated by Al Bore, Dimon, and others like them to make money.

Blankley: Economic Crapshoot Ahead

By Tony Blankley
January 21, 2009

Finding wisdom on the question of economic stimulus may be Washington’s most important task in generations — short of major war decisions. President Barack Obama currently is proposing to spend about $850 billion over two years that he asserts is intended to stimulate the economy and thereby add 3-4 million jobs that otherwise would not exist.

It is generally expected that Obama is lowballing it and that after Congress is finished, the level will be closer to $1.2 trillion. Without such efforts, it is asserted, we would face something on the dimensions of the Great Depression (during which America endured up to 24 percent unemployment and up to 13 percent contraction of gross domestic product in a single year). With the stimulus and other legislative and executive actions, people close to Obama hope that unemployment would top out at less than 10 percent and GDP contraction at about 5 percent.

More

We are about to roll the dice on the biggest crapshoot in the economic history of humanity. Will seven come 11? Or will it be snake eyes for our economic future?

I pretty sure it is going to be snake eyes.  Not that the politicians care and it gets them reelected so they can make the easy money and not have to worry about inflation.  After all, they can always vote themselves pay raises.

Sen. Kennedy OK after seizure at Obama’s luncheon

By DAVID ESPO
Associated Press
January 21, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, ill with a brain tumor, was hospitalized Tuesday but quickly reported feeling well after suffering a seizure at a post-inauguration luncheon for President Barack Obama. “After testing, we believe the incident was brought on by simple fatigue,” Dr. Edward Aulisi, chairman of neurosurgery at Washington Hospital Center said in a statement released by the senator’s office.

“He will remain … overnight for observation, and will be released in the morning.”

The statement said the 76-year-old senator “is awake, talking with family and friends, and feeling well.”

The statement did not disclose the tests that were performed on Kennedy, whose seizure was witnessed by several fellow senators seated with him at lunch.

Senate confirms 6 cabinet secretaries

By JIM ABRAMS
Associated Press
January 21, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate swiftly approved six members of President Barack Obama’s Cabinet on Tuesday, but put off for a day the vote on his choice of Hillary Rodham Clinton to be secretary of state.

The Senate confirmed all six with a single voice vote a little more than three hours after Obama took the oath of office to become the 44th president.

But Democratic hopes to add Clinton to that list were sidetracked when one senator, Republican John Cornyn of Texas, objected to the unanimous vote.

Cornyn said he still had concerns about foreign donations to the foundation headed by Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton.

This is just like the Senate Republicans, to roll over and play dead like they always do, without even asking questions or putting up a fight.

Senate confirms Clinton as secretary of state

By ANNE FLAHERTY
Associated Press
January 21, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate confirmed Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state Wednesday as President Barack Obama moved to make his imprint on U.S. foreign policy, mobilizing a fresh team of veteran advisers and reaching out to world leaders.

The Senate voted 94-2, with Republican Sens. David Vitter of Louisiana and Jim DeMint of South Carolina opposing.

Republicans and Democrats alike said her swift confirmation was necessary so that Obama could begin tackling the major foreign policy issues at hand, including two wars, increased violence in the Middle East and the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.

“It is essential that we provide the president with the tools and resources he needs to effect change, and that starts with putting a national security team in place as soon as possible,” said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

More

Did we expect anything less?  If the wimpy excuses for Republican Senators don’t roll over and play dead, they dance like a circus monkey to the tune of the Dimocrap Party.  I guess pretty soon the Dimocraps will either make them junior partners in government or annex them straight into the party.

At times like this I feel no reason to go on being a Republican.  The only reason I do is for lack of a better alternative.

9/11 Families Outraged by Obama Call to Suspend Guantanamo War Crimes Trials

Fox News

Family members of people killed on September 11, 2001, and in other terror attacks say they are outraged by President Obama’s draft order calling for the suspension of war crimes trials of prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay.

“To me it’s beyond comprehension that they would take the side of the terrorists,” said Peter Gadiel, whose son, James, was killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. “Many of these people have been released and been right back killing, right back at their terrorist work again.”

Obama’s request on the first full day of his presidency came as a draft order was being prepared ordering the closing of the Guantanamo prison within a year. A judge responded by halting the case against a Canadian detainee accused of killing an American soldier in Afghanistan, issuing a 120-day continuance in the case.

Of course, Hussein is more worried about what the rest of the world thinks about him than the dangers to his own country and its citizens.  I’m sure he would just free them all if he could and let them go home to fight against us another day.

After all, despite what the liberals think and what the media says, these are definitely not your ordinary every day criminals.  These are hard-core, suicidal, fanatic terrorists who would do anything and everything up to dying to inflict damage on the US or its citizens.

To me the safest place for them to be would be six feet under the ground.

I fully expect a major terrorist attack on US soil some time very soon after the protections put up by the Bush administration are systematically taken down by Hussein and replaced with nice words with no threat of force or just punishment to back them up.

Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said he would take the detainees in his own district

I suggest we let them all move into Murtha’s house with him and see how he likes that.

Chris Matthews: ‘Does Rush Limbaugh Hate This Country?’

NewsBusters

Chris Matthews questioned Rush Limbaugh’s patriotism on Wednesday night’s “Hardball,” as the MSNBC host wondered how the radio talk show host could dare to oppose Barack Obama as he exclaimed to his viewers: “Does Rush Limbaugh hate this country?” Matthews jumped on a quote from Limbaugh saying of Obama, “I hope he fails,” apparently not understanding the concept that Limbaugh opposes any and all who would promote liberal policies precisely because he believes they will be harmful to the country. To see Limbaugh’s quote in full context visit his official site. Matthews slammed Limbaugh in the following tease before going to a commercial break (audio excerpt here):

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Up next, does Rush Limbaugh hate this country? Wait till you hear what he said about the new president. He wants him to fail. What an amazing-, I’ve never heard anybody say they wanted a new president to fail. Usually you want the new president to succeed and then later on you argue the politics of what he or she does. But to want them to fail at the outset? What’s that about?

More

Matthews is a moron and a buffoon with no intelligence or integrity whatsoever.  Of all the liberally biased media persons, he is one of the worst about being in bed with Hussein and the Left.

His views and his idiocy are hardly worth even noting anymore.  He is a joke, like many more of his ilk, and has no business even being considered as a journalist.  He is more like an official spokesperson or director of propaganda for the Dimocraps, the liberal Left, and Hussein.

More

More words that don’t add up to squat in my opinion.  More or less telling us to continue on along our present course of giving in and appeasing the Left instead of fighting back the hard way like they do to us.  This is the losers way as is apparent by the state conservatives are currently in, by repeatedly playing nice with the enemy while they systematically castrate us politically, and we sit there and take it because we want to be ‘nice’ instead of ‘divisive.’  There is a difference between being civil and bending over and saying kick me in the butt, like so many elected Republicans do time and again to the Dimocraps.

I think its time for a shake up and time for true conservatives to come out swinging or else we are going to lose this fight, this country, and this society forever, all for just sitting on our hands and playing along to get along.

The Left doesn’t play by the same rules we do, they fight dirty.  And when there are no officials or referees (because the courts are already in the pocket of the Left), those that fight dirty are always going to triumph over those that go by the rules when nobody else does.

In this, the most important fight of our lifetimes, we are not going to win by getting along and not standing up for what is right and fighting back.  There is such a thing as righteous anger against evil.  Think of Jesus in the Temple and what he did to the moneychangers.  Think of the American Revolution of 1776 against repressive British government.  And what we are in is truly a fight against pure, unadulterated evil, where there can be no compromise and no concessions.

‘What Else Should a Reporter BE’ But a Liberal?

By Warner Todd Huston
January 21, 2009 – 01:40 ET

So what do you get when you mix a Canadian TV hostess with the venerable Helen Thomas? An admission of bias so strong that it could ward off a vampire. Just why the image of the undead first came to my mind is anybody’s guess, but there you have it.

On a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation morning TV interview show called “Sun Day,” Thomas was interviewed on how she felt about presidents past, present what was to be future with the Obama inauguration still then days away. She was also quizzed on her profession in which Thomas claimed only liberals should be engaged. And that isn’t all. She also said that conservatives are neither thinking nor caring people.

At last a true confession of what most of us have known for years, straight from the horse’s mouth, both literally and figuratively.  Be warned, she is hideous to look at.  When I first saw her picture I really thought somebody had doctored it up to make it look as horrible as possible but then I saw she looked like that in all the others also.  Vampire indeed.

Johnson: A Dangerous Presidency Begins

Mac Johnson
Human Events

By the time you read this, we will be well into the second month of historic celebrations of the historic election of our historic new leader President Barack Lincoln Kennedy Emmanuel (Hussein) Obama.

I hate to be a contrarian during the coronation of our Great Leader, but the sum of the facts compels the conclusion that we are today entering one of the most dangerous periods in our nation’s history. The combination of the hype and propaganda surrounding the man and the hype and propaganda regarding the economic crisis we are in present a unique hazard for an unchecked, unexamined and unopposed expansion of government power and a radical shift in the foundations of our America’s political culture.

At last another person who shares my fears, worries, concerns, and point of view exactly.  Would only that there were millions more like him that could get the truth out and try to convince the Believers of the Lie.  I pray that once the dust settles the American People will be able to see that the Emperor wears no clothes.

May God have mercy on us for the next four years, and hopefully there will still be a free United States of America intact after that time.

Welcome to Hell, folks, it started today.

Kenyans hail election of saviour Barack Obama

Times Online

The combined talents of Aretha Franklin, Joe Biden and Yo-Yo Ma failed to silence the drinkers at the Urafiki Green Pub in the heart of Kibera, Africa’s biggest slum.

Thousands gathered in the narrow dirt alleys and dusty clearings of the slum to enjoy the moment, chanting “Yes we can”. Hush fell only when the tiny television set in the corner of the ramshackle bar room filled with the distinctive features of America’s 44th President.

“This man is Jesus,” shouted one man, spilling his Guinness as Barack Obama began his inaugural address. “When will he come to Kenya to save us?” If Barack Obama’s spin doctors have been trying to lower expectations since his election victory, the message clearly has not reached the land of his father.

More

Well, I suppose this is appropriate, after all it is not often that a citizen of Kenya gets elected President of another country, much less the United States.

Hussein has never produced proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a natural-born citizen of the US.  Not to my satisfaction anyway, or that of millions of other people.  The fact remains that the media and the government brush it all under the rug and are letting him get away with it.

Abortion Rights Advocates Want Abortion to Be ‘Pro-Family’

Abortion Rights Advocates Want Abortion to Be ‘Pro-Family’ – By Matt Hadro

(CNSNews.com) – It is time for abortion rights advocates to include a “pro-family” context in their conversations about reproductive rights, according to Malika Saada Saar, executive director of the Rebecca Project for Human Rights.

Saar was a member of a recent panel discussion at the liberal Center for American Progress (CAP) in Washington, D.C., to discuss the topic “Time for a Change in the Reproductive Rights Debate.”

Saar said that much of her generation, the “Roe Generation” that came of age after the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion, has held a view of the abortion-rights movement as “anti-family” and “anti-child.”

Another example of the out of control Left twisting the truth and our language to turn something evil into something good, as if calling a pig a racehorse makes it any more than a pig, or calling a devil an angel turns the devil into an angel.  It is outrageous the liberties these people are taking with words to transform the morals of our country to murder and decadence, as if changing what you call evil makes it good.

Unfortunately too many lazy, ignorant, and unscrupulous people buy into the new language of the Lie and believe it and promote as the new “truth.”  Twisted is all I can say.

You can have DC… I’m heading to the beach!

Bobby Eberle
The Loft at GOPUSA

In an interesting story by the Associated Press, it appears that some Republicans are trading in the cold of Washington, DC for warm, sunny beaches to escape Inauguration Day. That’s not a bad idea considering that today is such a vivid reminder of how things went off track for the conservative movement, and how much work there is to do to get things back on track.

The AP story, Inauguration is a day at the beach for Republicans, notes that several Republican aides and advisors are spending Inauguration Day away from Washington… pursuing golf, skiing, or the beaches of Miami… you know… all the things rich, white Republicans do, while the rest of “the nation” is gathering to support the incoming messiah. The whole premise of the story is crazy… find a few Republicans “boycotters” and imply that’s what all Republicans are doing.

On the flip side of things, I, for one, have no desire to be in Washington, DC today… and, by chance, I will be spending it here in Houston, TX… hmmmm… Ok, maybe the news story is not so off base…

First of all everybody seems to be forgetting that Hussein is half-white.  He is only half-black.  So he is not really the first black president, but the first half-black president or multi-racial president.

When it comes to the first black president there were several much more qualified, responsible men that would have made an excellent choice, a million times better than what we’ve got.  Among them:  Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes, Allen West, JC Watts, Ken Blackwell, and I am sure there are even more I am not aware of.

Instead we are saddled with the worst, the most liberal, most socialist politician in the Senate if not the whole US, who is bullet-proof against criticism because of the race card.

Welcome to Hell.  It will last at least four years if not forever if he succeeds in his “Change” of America to a socialist/communist state.

Texas senator blocks Clinton’s state confirmation

By JIM ABRAMS
Associated Press
January 20, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — The confirmation of Hillary Rodham Clinton to be secretary of state will be held up for at least a day due to the objection of a single senator. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said he wanted “a full and open debate and an up-or-down vote on Sen. Clinton’s nomination.”

He said important questions remain unanswered concerning the foundation headed by former President Bill Clinton “and its acceptance of donations from foreign entities. Transparency transcends partisan politics and the American people deserve to know more.”

Cornyn’s spokesman Kevin McLaughlin said the senator is not trying to block her confirmation, but is seeking more debate on the donation issue.

Limbaugh: Republicans Must Turn Down The Kool-Aid

By David Limbaugh
January 20, 2009

It’s going to take real courage the next four years for Republicans to swim against the tide and oppose Barack Obama — in whom so many have placed their hopes, almost to the point of idolatry. But if Obama governs in a way that’s consistent with his promises, the country’s future security and prosperity will depend on spirited opposition.

It’s bad enough for the liberal media to deify Obama, but it’s almost unbearable for right-wing commentators and politicians to jump on this bandwagon, as well, as if Obama’s personal attributes have blinded them to the policy dangers he represents.

During the Bush years, the left blamed Bush for the absence of bipartisanship, when, by any rational measure, they were the ones whose relentless vitriol made bipartisanship impossible.

More

Pardon my pessimism but I don’t think there are any Repubs with the backbone, strength, guts, or principles to stand up for conservatism against the dismal tide of liberalism engulfing the nation, and be willing to withstand the ruthless, biased beating they would take from everybody on the Left, including the entire MSM.

Nothing good has ever come from playing nice with the Dimocraps and crossing the aisle.  All the Dims do is take what they can get from you and then stab you in the back, like the bunch of pit vipers they are.  Playing nice when they play dirty will only get you dusted off the field.  They only understand strength.  If they hit you and knock you down you have to get back up and knock them down harder.  But like I said, there are no fighters in the GOP congressional delegation anymore, just wimps and Dimocrap wannabe’s.

First inauguration for Roberts as chief justice

By MARK SHERMAN
Associated Press
January 20, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) — Chief Justice John Roberts swore in Barack Obama as president of the United States on Tuesday with a slight stumble over the wording of the oath of office, a stumble Obama repeated.

Separated by a Bible used by Abraham Lincoln at his first inaugural, Roberts asked Obama: “Are you prepared to take the oath, Senator?”

The former Illinois senator indicated he was, and Roberts started reciting — and Obama repeating — the 35-word oath that is prescribed by the Constitution.

But at one point, Obama paused abruptly after Roberts reversed several words in the oath.

I wonder how much he hated to swear in this heathen.

Kudlow: What Did Reagan’s Inaugural Say?

By Lawrence Kudlow
January 20, 2009

On the eve of Barack Obama’s inaugural speech, with a tough economic downturn and the ongoing threat from global terrorism, perhaps it is useful to recall Ronald Reagan’s first inaugural address, delivered on Jan. 20, 1981.

Reagan faced a terrible economy, too, and the growing Soviet threat loomed large. Spirits at home were low then, just as they are today. Problems seemed insurmountable then, just as many believe they are today.

Early in his speech, Reagan set it all out: “These United States are confronted with an economic affliction of great proportions.” He then defined the central problem: “We suffer from the longest and one of the worst sustained inflations in our national history. It distorts our economic decisions, penalizes thrift, and crushes the struggling young and the fixed-income elderly alike. It threatens to shatter the lives of millions of our people.”

Hussein isn’t worthy to be even mentioned in the same sentence as Ronald Reagan.  He couldn’t tie Ron’s shoes.

Sowell: Lured To Disaster

By Thomas Sowell
January 20, 2009

Behind the housing boom and bust was one of those alluring but undefined phrases that are so popular in politics– “affordable housing.”

It is hard for me to know specifically what politicians are talking about when they use this phrase. But then politics is about evoking emotions, not examining specifics.

In looking back over my own life, I find it hard to think of a time when I didn’t live in affordable housing.

When I first left home, back in 1948, I rented a room about 4 by 8 feet, costing $5.75 a week. Since my take-home pay was $22.50, that was affordable housing. (Multiply these numbers by about ten to get the equivalent in today’s prices).

After three years of living in rented rooms, I began living in Marine Corps barracks, and sometimes tents– none of which cost me anything. That was certainly affordable.

More

While this is definitely true, it is not only housing the John Q. Public expects the government to help out with.  Many people expect Uncle Sam to provide them with everything they desire, regardless of the cost.  That is very nearly the definition of Socialism, and with the current power structure in place, Socialism is knocking on the door, if it is not already in the house.

Kincaid: Conservative Blogs Duped In Panetta Controversy

By Cliff Kincaid
January 20, 2009

In a frantic search for the obscure and hidden left-wing connections of members of the new Obama Administration, some leading conservative blogs and websites have made an embarrassing error by claiming without evidence that Leon Panetta, the former Clinton chief of staff and incoming CIA director, has a radical daughter named Linda who associates with Hugo Chavez and other Latin American revolutionaries.

One conservative site identified Linda Panetta as “an avowed Marxist, anti-American, anti-military leftist” and said that Leon Panetta would have to explain his daughter’s activities.

But reached by telephone in Philadelphia, Linda Panetta told Accuracy in Media that while she admires Leon Panetta and that there may be a distant family connection somewhere, he is not her father and that she has never even met him. “Not only am I not his daughter but unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of meeting this man who has done amazing work in his lifetime,” she said. “He and my father may have been second cousins,” she acknowledged, but under no circumstances is he her father.

More

Even if Panetta had a radical Left Wing daughter, nobody would care, just like nobody cared about all the Left Wing radicals Hussein hung out with and was mentored by.  It would probably only increase his appeal to the liberal Left anyway.

U.S. Stocks Slide in Dow Average’s Worst Inauguration Day Drop

Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) — U.S. stocks sank, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its worst Inauguration Day decline, as speculation banks must raise more capital sent financial shares to an almost 14-year low.

State Street Corp., the largest money manager for institutions, tumbled 59 percent after unrealized bond losses almost doubled. Wells Fargo & Co. and Bank of America Corp. slumped more than 23 percent on an analyst’s prediction that they’ll need to take steps to shore up their balance sheets. The Dow’s 4 percent slide was the most on an Inauguration Day in the measure’s 112-year history, according to data compiled by Bloomberg and the Stock Trader’s Almanac.

Is this an omen or what?  A scary one at that.  Even the stock market doesn’t like the new sheriff in town.  The next four years are going to be “very interesting,” as the Chinese philosopher said.

Phillips: Sorry to be a party pooper, but I can’t share this swooning Obama hysteria

Melanie Phillips
LAT

Has everyone lost their marbles? The inauguration of President Obama is being treated like the Second Coming.

The coverage is so gushing we might all drown. Of course it’s a great thing that America, with its history of slavery and segregation still a shockingly recent memory, now has a black President; the palpable joy of African-Americans is entirely understandable and deeply touching. And there’s no doubt that Obama is a highly charismatic and attractive personality.

But what’s more than a wee bit troubling is that the swooning hysteria reflects the fact that people appear to believe that as of today the world will be saved. Swords will be beaten into ploughshares, peace will be brought to the Middle East, Iran will be pacified, every American will have health insurance, poverty will be eliminated and utopia will have arrived.

More

Of course this had to come from a British paper.  They seem to be the only ones unafraid of the Messiah.  The American media wouldn’t dare print such a pessimistic story on the Messiah’s Day.

It is amazing that a British writer in a major daily can nail Hussein for exactly what he is, even down to his tactics to transform the US into a socialist partner in a one-world government.  Either British writers can see through Hussein’s lies and deception where US writers can’t, or US writers can and either (a) are in on the socialist conspiracy, (b) don’t care, or (c) are too intimidated to report it.

Also impressively, she is astute enough to recognize and publicize the unending threat to the naïve Western Civilization from Islam and its goal to conquer the West and destroy it.

Gingrich urges GOP to fight Geithner

Washington Times

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is challenging Senate Republicans to take on President Obama’s nomination of Timothy Geithner as Treasury secretary.

Treasury Secretary-designate Timothy Geithner (left) looks on as President Obama meets with members of his economic team. Mr. Obama has called Mr. Geithner’s tax problems an “innocent mistake” that should not stall is confirmation. (Associated Press)

Mr. Gingrich said Mr. Geithner’s failure to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 should automatically disqualify him, and that if Mr. Obama doesn’t withdraw the nomination Republicans should make a stand.

“Senate Republicans should make it clear that they will not permit a tax evader to become the secretary of the Treasury,” the Georgia Republican told The Washington Times. “Even after he was explicitly sent material telling him he had to pay them he did not do so.”

As well they should but they won’t for reasons already listed elsewhere.  I wish Newt was still on Congress.

Al Qaeda bungles arms experiment

Washington Times

An al Qaeda affiliate in Algeria closed a base earlier this month after an experiment with unconventional weapons went awry, a senior U.S. intelligence official said Monday.

The official, who spoke on the condition he not be named because of the sensitive nature of the issue, said he could not confirm press reports that the accident killed at least 40 al Qaeda operatives, but he said the mishap led the militant group to shut down a base in the mountains of Tizi Ouzou province in eastern Algeria.

He said authorities in the first week of January intercepted an urgent communication between the leadership of al Qaeda in the Land of the Maghreb (AQIM) and al Qaeda’s leadership in the tribal region of Pakistan on the border with Afghanistan. The communication suggested that an area sealed to prevent leakage of a biological or chemical substance had been breached, according to the official.

More

Even with Hussein taking office, this is the scariest story of the day, and its scariness is only compounded by Hussein taking office.  I knew it was possible that they would someday make biological or chemical weapons but now to know that they have succeeded is very sobering.

It seems there is danger and madness every direction you turn these days.

Portland Mayor Admits Past Relationship With Teen

PORTLAND, Ore. — More than a year after denying it, the newly elected mayor of Portland has admitted having a sexual relationship with a male teenager in 2005.

Sam Adams, who is openly gay, acknowledged the relationship in a statement Monday, after the Willamette Week newspaper broke the story on its Web site.

In Washington, D.C., for the inauguration, Adams will cut his trip short to issue a public apology Tuesday afternoon in Portland, said Wade Nkrumah, his spokesman.

More

The version of the story I read implicitly implied he was very, very liberal since he was elected with extremely strong support in the most liberal city in a very, very liberal state.  Also telling is the fact that his political party was not even mentioned in the article when if he had been a Republican, it would have been screaming out in the blaring headlines and scattered liberally (pardon the pun) all throughout the story.

Can you imagine the outrage and riots and violence that would ensue if this were a conservative?  Yet applying their double standard once again, a liberal gets away with it scott-free when a conservative would’ve been castigated and crucified for far less.

I’m betting money not only will he get to keep his mayorship, he will be overwhelming reelected next time round.

There is no justice.

Coleman wants to open thousands of absentee ballots

The Hill

Republican Norm Coleman’s lawyers on Monday called for the counting of thousands more absentee ballots in their quest to reverse Democrat Al Franken’s 225-vote lead in Minnesota’s Senate race.

Coleman has filed an election challenge following a statewide recount and has alleged that some ballots have been counted twice. Coleman attorney Fritz Knaak on Monday, though, sought to expand the challenge to a full review of 12,000 rejected absentee ballots.

About 1,350 of the ballots were initially added to the totals, which swung the race in Franken’s direction by about 175 votes. Coleman’s lawyers have unsuccessfully tried to get about 650 additional rejected absentee ballots included as well.

With all the other things going wrong lately I had almost forgot about this one.

The righteous thing to do would be to start all over again with clearly established rules before they even begin instead of making it up as they go along, like they did.

Of course this is really over since Soros and the rest of the Left bought the recount because they didn’t quite succeed in buying the election.

Congress Wants to Restrict Drug Access

By SCOTT GOTTLIEB
Wall Street Journal

In Britain, a government agency evaluates new medical products for their “cost effectiveness” before citizens can get access to them. The agency has concluded that $45,000 is the most worth paying for products that extend a person’s life by one “quality-adjusted” year. (By their calculus, a year combating cancer is worth less than a year in perfect health.)

Here in the U.S., President-elect Barack Obama and House Democrats embrace the creation of a similar “comparative effectiveness” entity that will do research on drugs and medical devices. They claim that they don’t want this to morph into a British-style agency that restricts access to medical products based on narrow cost criteria, but provisions tucked into the fiscal stimulus bill betray their real intentions.

Just like in a fascist/communist state, Hussein and company are seeking to have the power over life and death of their constituents.

I am glad the WSJ has brought this to the public’s attention.  I would be even gladder if somebody did something about it.
