5 Somali Pirates Drown With Share of $3M Ransom

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Five of the Somali pirates who released a hijacked oil-laden Saudi supertanker drowned with their share of a reported $3 million ransom after their small boat capsized, a pirate and port town resident said Saturday.
Pirate Daud Nure says the boat with eight people on board overturned in a storm after dozens of pirates left the Sirius Star following a two-month standoff in the Gulf of Aden that ended Friday.
He said five people died and three people reached shore after swimming for several hours. Daud Nure was not part of the pirate operation but knew those involved.

NORFOLK, Va. — It’s the perfect gift for an old Navy flier: 1,092 feet of flattop.
“What do you give a guy who has been blessed and has just about everything he has ever needed?” asked President George W. Bush from aboard the Navy’s newest ship. “Well, an aircraft carrier.”
The USS George H.W. Bush, a steel-gray vessel longer than three football fields and built at a cost of $6.2 billion, was commissioned Saturday with its namesake, the 41st president, and other members of the Bush family on hand for the ceremonies at Naval Station Norfolk.
Adorned for the day with red, white and blue bunting, the USS George H.W. Bush is one of the Nimitz class of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, the largest warships in the world.

Many others are just plain ridiculous, such as $3.5 million to help celebrate the 450th birthday of St. Augustine Florida — in 2015, $5 million for botanical gardens in Hawaii and Florida, a $14 million tropical research institute in Panama, and a $12 million orchid museum in Maryland. And according to Americans for Tax Reform, Reid’s omnibus would hurt American energy by ending exploration on lands that are estimated to provide 300 million barrels of proven oil and 8.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

It is completely ridiculous and irresponsible for Congress to even consider such an asinine bill such as this, a gross waste of taxpayer money on totally frivolous, unnecessary, and unneeded projects, especially when the budget deficit according to PEBO Hussein Obama is projected to be in the trillions for the near future and will send the entire country into an abyss of debt it may never recover from.
I adjure you to blast this bill out of existence. The US has no money to fund such useless waste and should be completely ashamed that it has even come up for debate.
I insist you do the right thing by the country, the taxpayers, and the taxpayers of the future by making sure that this ignorant and rancid bill has no future.

Voting rights law under high court review

WASHINGTON (AP) — Days before the first black president takes office, the Supreme Court agreed Friday to consider overturning a key feature of the main federal law that ensures access to the polls by minorities.
The justices said they will review a lower court ruling upholding a provision of the Voting Rights Act that requires all or parts of 16 states with a history of racial discrimination, most in the South, to get approval before implementing any changes in the way elections are held.
In 2006, Congress voted overwhelmingly to extend the measure for another 25 years. The 1965 law was designed to prevent governments from making it harder for minorities to vote.
More Federal Government interference and tyranny as a result of the South’s defeat in the Civil War. Reconstruction continues in another name.

California Sen. Dianne Feinstein is the incoming chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee — the first woman to hold the job.
But Feinstein, a veteran of many skirmishes on Capitol Hill, didn’t wait to take the gavel before asserting her prerogatives in the opening days of the 111th Congress.
Her public pronouncements on President-elect Barack Obama’s pick to head the CIA and on the controversy surrounding his open Illinois Senate seat earned her an apology from Obama and tart words from her own party leader.
A little bit of infighting amongst the Sociocrats even though they enjoy a totality of power in DC. The only problem is that even if they fight each other they still fight for the total destruction of the US as it is and has been for the last 232 years and its transformation into a fascist Socialist Workers’ Paradise. When they fight among themselves all they are fighting about is how to accomplish their goal, not whether it needs to be accomplished or not.

Say you shoplift. You get handcuffed and tossed into a nasty jail cell. It happens every day, just about everywhere.
Say you commit a really serious crime. It’s likely your bond will be set at a price too steep to afford. You’ll sit in jail until your case is heard.
But you’re not the man who swindled billions of dollars from unsuspecting investors. Not the man who apparently violated the order that allowed him to live under “house arrest” in his luxury Manhattan home, even after he “gifted” over $1 million in jewels to close friends.
You’re not Bernie Madoff, he of the special treatment. You’re not the guy who has ruined families and triggered suicides.
“I hope we can get every last one of these rotten scoundrels.”
Good luck with that. as long as there are Dimocraps passing out taxpayer money for nothing, there will be crooks and con-artists lined up to take it. That is a sure bet.
America is too easy on its criminals, both white collar and blue collar. As I have said earlier, the criminals have more rights and liberal, knee-jerk supporters than the victims. This is especially true when the criminals have lots and lots of money, ill-gotten or otherwise, they can spend on mercenary lawyers to subvert the already broken justice system.

Connecticut is considering a bailout for local papers. But government assistance always comes with a catch. In the case of government aid of newspapers, it will destroy the ability of those papers to function as watchdogs. As journalism professor Paul Janensch told Reuters, “You can’t expect a watchdog to bite the hand that feeds it.” That’s why the news out of Connecticut is very disturbing.
Two small-town papers have been in danger of being shut down because of decreasing revenue and poor management decisions. Journal Register Corp. recently had to sell the two papers, The Bristol Press and The (New Britain) Herald. Without a buyer, the alternative would have been to close the papers.
Elections become meaningless when information is not accessible regarding government officials and their activities.
I would beg to disagree with the columnists. This is already here, bothers and sisters. The future they speak of is in reality the present.
The press has already been compromised with its undeniable, altogether disgusting bias and prejudice in favor of Hussein, the Dimocraps, and Liberal causes in general, and against anything conservative, Christian, and traditionally American. Keeping the Press Free is a lost cause, lost a long time ago when while we were sleeping or not looking, it was taken over by the anti-American, Liberal, subversive Socialist crowd.
They already are beholden to and in the back pockets of Hussein and the liberal Dimocraps their biased propaganda got elected to office. Why shouldn’t they expect payback in form of a bailout, like the UAW, Freddie and Fannie, and so on.

Tavis Smiley of PBS: ‘We’re All Working For Barack Obama’

Chris Matthews won’t be working alone. Back in November, the Hardball host said it was his job to make Barack Obama’s presidency a success. Today, another TV journalist expressed a similar sentiment. Tavis Smiley has declared that “we’re all working for Barack Obama” and that “we have to help make Obama a great president.” [H/t reader dronetek.]
The host of Tavis Smiley on PBS was a guest on Morning Joe. Reacting to Harry Reid’s claim last week that he doesn’t work for Barack Obama, Smiley said Reid should “put down the crack pipe.” Smiley added “we’re all working for Barack Obama.” It soon became clear that was no passing quip, but a literal description of how he sees his role.
I ain’t working for Hussein Obama. I’ll work actively work against him and his plans to ruin America any and every chance I get.

Obama has asked to say ’so help me God’ at swearing-in

(CNN) — President-elect Barack Obama has requested that the words “so help me God” be added to the end of the oath of office to be administered by Chief Justice John Roberts on Inauguration Day.
That confirmation came in an affidavit filed today by Roberts’ court counselor in a pending lawsuit by an atheist opposed to any mention of God in the inaugural ceremonies. Roberts said he would abide by Obama’s wishes.
The Constitution has specific language on what has to be said when swearing in the president, but the “so help me God” phrase has traditionally been added at the end of the required oath, starting with George Washington in 1789.
I believe there are a lot more American citizens that support God being kept in the country. It is the ones who want to throw Him out that make the most noise. And the ones who disagree stay silent in order to avoid trouble and retaliation from the small, noisy minority that is stirring up all the trouble, with the willing and able collusion of the prejudiced MSM, the liberal elite, the broken education system, biased courts, and of course the Godless socialists masquerading as the Dimocrap Party.
Just like studies show that gays make up only 2% of the US population but by the noise and trouble they cause you would think the number is far, far higher. And those that oppose their agenda are castigated and crucified.
The ones who want to cling to traditional values are silenced or beaten into submission by the onslaught from the Left as aided and abetted by the above mentioned groups. The silent majority is indeed silent and losing ground swiftly to the liberal, socialist, atheist dog that barks the loudest and bites the hand that feeds it.
Israel Warns Gaza Residents War Will ‘Escalate’

Israel will step up its offensive on the Gaza Strip, and dropped leaflets there Saturday warning residents of its plan.
The fliers that fluttered down from Israeli air force jets warned of “a new phase in the war on terror” and said Israel will “escalate” its operation, which has already killed more than 800 Palestinians.
The notices were dropped as a “general warning,” the army said Saturday.
Israel launched the offensive two weeks ago to halt years of Palestinian rocket attacks. The army says the operation is directed only at the ruling Hamas militant group. But Palestinian officials say roughly half of the casualties have been civilians.

Israel should push all the way to the Mediterranean, drive all the Palestinians into the water, and start over again with a cleared landscape in Gaza. That way, no more Palestinians, nor more Hamas terrorists, no more rockets.
That’s militarily what they should do but the World will not allow it to happen without every nation declaring war on Israel and fulfilling Hamas’s wish to wipe it off the face of the earth.
The world we live in is a very, very messed up place.
