This is probably going to be my last post for a while, maybe forever, since nobody reads these and it is looking like a waste of my time.

Ok, stay with me here… I know many of you are stunned with the turn our country is taking down the path to socialism. There is massive spending of money we don’t have on programs we don’t need. There are unprecedented amounts of government control about to be heaped on the American citizen. From banks to automobile manufacturers to health care, the federal government is injecting itself into the lives of Americans like never before.

But, it doesn’t stop there. Despite the trillions of dollars in the upcoming budget and the near trillion dollars in stimulus and mortgage bailouts, there is a group complaining about the lack of funds to pay for road projects. Their recommendation? To tax drivers by the mile by installing tracking devices in their vehicles which monitor their activity.

If Big Brother made me put one a mandatory, tracking GPS on my vehicle, I would disable it somehow, as soon as I was out of sight. If I got caught, I would blame it on vandals or faulty wiring or defective manufacturing or something. I’m sure there would instantly be a thriving black market to subvert, mask, fool, or disable these things if this were to indeed come to pass, just as one can always find guns if one knows where to look, if they are illegal.

This is as bad as anything I have ever heard proposed by the fascist Dems, even worse than government custody of all our private medical records as proposed in the Porkulus bill and Holder’s maneuvering to confiscate all of our guns. How much more of this socialist Nazi oppression are we supposed to take before we go to the streets to fight back?

Big Brother’s next intrusion into our lives, could be a mandatory subcutaneous insertion of a GPS device in our bodies so that they can track our every movement for our entire lives. I have seen science fiction movies with this in it, supposedly to be used to track criminals but in reality used to track down and eliminate enemies of the state. It would be the next logical step in the fascist takeover of our country and elimination of our freedoms.

Think it can’t happen? Some people already have the devices embedded in their skin, mostly kids so parents can know where they are, like in case they get kidnapped or don’t come home on time, or Alzheimer’s patients in case they get lost. But the technology is already there, how long until the dictatorship in Washington decides to make it mandatory? I’ve wondered if such devices could be the mark of the Antichrist as foretold in the Book of Revelation, you know, no one can buy or sell unless they have the mark of the Beast.

The most simple solution if they want to tax mileage driven instead of gallons of gasoline bought, is that whenever you go get your vehicle inspected or license renewed they record your miles driven and assess the tax based on that at that time. No intrusions on privacy, no expensive electronic systems. But of course that would make too much sense and is too inexpensive for those in Washington to even consider.

This along with the proposed renewal on the assault weapons ban will only force more and more law abiding citizens underground or in gray areas where they technically break the law in order to keep it.

All this bad news today just makes me sick, sad, and fearful for both my rights and my country, and my descendents as well.

Madness is rampant all around.

Jewish Leaders Blast Clinton Over Israel Criticism

In a swift about face from her views as New York’s senator, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now hammering Israel over its treatment of Palestinians in Gaza.

As First Lady, Clinton raised eyebrows when she kissed Suha Arafat.

Since she was then seeking a Senate seat the resulting brouhaha caused her to “re-think” her positions.

“I’m a very strong supporter of Israel,” Clinton said back in February 2000.

On Thursday, as Secretary of State she had yet another about face in the form of angry messages demanding Israel speed up aid to Gaza. Jewish leaders are furious.

Typical two-faced Liberal/Democrat hypocrisy, say whatever is needful of convenient at the time to please the audience and never mean anything you say.

Hopefully she has shown her true colors and the true colors of all those like her, i.e. Libs and Dems, to the Jews. I a Jew had any sense or cared an iota about his or her homeland, they would never again vote Democrat for as long as they lived.

I wonder now if any US Jews are sorry they voted for Obama, or if they just don’t care.

So King Hussein of the US wants to give $900 million to the Palestinians? The ones who burn US flags alongside Israeli flags, the ones who literally danced in the streets in joy on Sept. 11, 2001. Why? What for? What do we get for it besides more hatred and abuse? They are laughing at us and cursing us behind our backs, if they are not plotting against us, even as they cash the give-away check.

They are not going to like us any better for giving them $900 million or $900 quadrillion for that matter, than they would for us giving them nothing. What is the point? What is Obama’s game? What does he stand to gain? A favorable impression in the Arab and Muslim world? Again, they are all going to hate as much for giving them nothing as they would for giving them trillions.

Even MORE tax money thrown down the drain on top of the trillions thrown away on the economy and liberal social programs that don’t work and make matters worse.

Madness.

Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

“As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons,” Holder told reporters.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

Stories like this just infuriate me. Every time I read the news or come here, I read about something else Obama or Pelosi or Reid has done that is wrong, ignorant, asinine, crooked, illegal, immoral, or unconstitutional. It is like how many more hammer blows can the wall take before it shatters.

They are already criminals, having an illegal firearm isn’t going to make the least little bit of difference to them. All bans do is prevent those who keep the law from protecting themselves from those who don’t.

I have read stories where gun crime has soared in countries like the UK and Australia right after they banned guns. Like I said, the criminals don’t care, it just makes it easier for them to rob somebody if they know that person is not going to be armed. It frustrates me to no end that Libs and Dems cannot get that through their thick heads.

My father told me this was how Hitler came to power and kept his hold on it, first he registered the guns, then he came and took them and nobody was left to stand in opposition to him.

Eighty Seven Percent of Housing Value Loss* in Just Four States

President Barack Obama told a joint session of Congress earlier this week that his administration has a plan to prevent mortgage foreclosures for millions of Americans. In fact, the Department of Housing and Urban Development proudly says that it is shoveling money out the door as fast as it can.

Yesterday, researchers at the University of Virginia took an in-depth look at just where foreclosures are happening. It turns out that 87 percent of foreclosures housing value loss is taking place in just four states–California, Florida, Arizona and Nevada. According the press release describing the study:

Texas has just as high a rate of illegals as those states yet it was not mentioned. I live in Florida and five years ago I knew for a fact the prices for houses were unrealistic and getting more and more out of control. I couldn’t figure out why a house would double in value in only a couple of years without any upgrades or improvements. Now I know.

Liberal Groups Are Undermining Voter ID Laws, Say Conservative Election Experts

Washington (CNSNews.com) – Too many absentee ballots, litigation against voter identification laws, and actions by a liberal community-organizer group have disenfranchised some voters while potentially allowing illegal votes to be cast, election lawyers claimed Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C.

In Minnesota — where the Senate race between Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken likely will not be decided until the summer – at least 12,000 votes were not counted, said Mark Braden, an election lawyer who has been involved in the case for the last several months.

Most of those 12,000 votes were absentee ballots, and most were rural voters.

Malkin: Obama’s New Commerce Secretary Nominee: Not So ‘Squeaky Clean’

Gary Locke, President Obama’s third pick for the beleaguered Commerce Secretary job. “Obama’s New Commerce Pick Has Clean Reputation,” declared National Public Radio’s Tom Banse. The Democrat possesses “a largely scandal-free resume” reported The New York Times. He is a “safe choice,” the Washington Post asserted, because of his “strait-laced reputation.”

But repeating the Mr. Clean claim doesn’t make it so. Those in his home state who know Locke best paint a far grimier picture of a crony politician with a serial habit of skirting campaign finance laws and conflict-of-interest rules. In other words: Locke’s “Do As I Say, Not as I Do” record makes him a good fit for the ethically impaired Obama administration.

Just more par for the course for Obama’s cabinet picks. It wouldn’t do to have ONE clean one in there amongst all the tainted, would it? You get what you pay for and in this case you get what you voted for, America.

Morris: It’s Obama Spreading Panic

Ultimately, all recessions and depressions resolve themselves into crises of confidence. The instant, global, 24/7 communications of today make them ever more so. President Obama, in his pursuit of liberal big-government spending, has totally neglected the role of the president of the United States in reversing global panic. To the contrary, his every remark and the constant preoccupation of his Cabinet is to heighten the sense of crisis and to escalate the predictions of doom if we do not do as they tell us and raise spending now and taxes later.

Instead of being a firewall, reassuring Main Street even as Wall Street crashed, he has become a conduit of panic, spreading the mood of desperation from the stock exchange floor to kitchen tables across the world.

Obama is the perfect President for Bizarro World. Everything he does is wrong.

Perhaps that is part of the enemy’s master plan, to keep on and keep on spreading panic to induce further chaos so they can exert even more control in the name of fixing it.

Following President Obama’s first address to Congress, MSNBC political personality Chris Matthews was caught muttering “Oh, God” on the air as Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal walked toward the camera to deliver the GOP response. The remark was heard after Countdown host Keith Olbermann interrupted the network’s political panel to introduce the Republican governor.

I used the “off” button on the biased and compromised MSM a long, long time ago.

If others with any intelligence did, then we might have less and less of this mindless coddling of the Left’s agenda and excusing its excesses, both legal and illegal.

Bloggers, liberal groups challenge centrist Dems

WASHINGTON (AP) — A coalition of liberal bloggers and activists backed by organized labor announced a campaign Thursday to pressure Democrats to move to the left by financing challenges to centrist members of Congress.

The group, which calls itself Accountability Now, plans to raise money online and recruit liberal candidates to run in the primaries against Democratic incumbents it considers out of step with constituents.

The group has the backing of the Service Employees International Union, one of the most politically active in organized labor, and MoveOn.org. Both have raised and spent tens of millions of dollars in recent elections.

The formation of the group highlights a tricky political dynamic for Democrats that could complicate President Barack Obama’s efforts to advance his agenda. The effort threatens to deepen rifts that separate the party’s liberal Democratic leaders, personified by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., from the growing group of moderates who have helped the party expand its majority in Congress.

Obama’s intelligence pick linked to Saudi Arabia

The Obama administration on Thursday named as chairman of the National Intelligence Council a veteran former diplomat who heads a think tank that has received major financing from Saudi Arabia.

The appointment of Chas W. Freeman Jr. – who served as U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia during the 1991 Gulf War and has major expertise regarding China – brought praise from some quarters but criticism from elements of the pro-Israel community and from congressional Republicans.

Since 1997, Mr. Freeman has been president of the Middle East Policy Council (MEPC), a Washington think tank. In 2007, he accepted a $1 million donation from Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz al-Saud that, according to a press release at the time, was meant for “future projects” for the council.

Of course this pick, too, just continues Obama’s perfecta in picking exactly the wrong man for the job, as well as the most tainted with controversial baggage. At least it is controversial to conservatives if not the Left and the media.

It has baffled me for years why Jews continue to unfailingly vote Democratic when Democrats are the best friends the Arabs, Muslims, and Palestinians have in the US, and Republicans are the ones who strongly and consistently defend and stand up for Israel.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Governments that receive donations of Ten Commandments displays and other monuments for public parks are not compelled to take everything they are offered, a unanimous Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.

The court said that a small religious group, the Summum, cannot force Pleasant Grove City, Utah, to place its granite marker in a park that has been home to a Ten Commandments monument for 38 years.

Officials do not violate free speech rights when they reject requests to display monuments, Justice Samuel Alito said in his opinion for the court.

“It is hard to imagine how a public park could be opened up for the installation of permanent monuments by every person or group wishing to engage in that form of expression,” Alito said.

Senate votes to give DC citizens vote in Congress

WASHINGTON(AP) — The right to a vote in Congress denied the District of Columbia when it became the nation’s capital two centuries ago would be granted under legislation the Senate passed Thursday.

Congress is “moving to right a centuries-old wrong,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid shortly before the 61-37 vote.

The House is expected to pass the measure with a strong majority next week and President Barack Obama, a co-sponsor when the bill failed to clear the Senate two years ago, has promised to sign it.

The measure is likely to face a court challenge immediately after becoming law; opponents argue that it is unconstitutional because D.C. is not a state and does not qualify for representation.

Well, what the heck. Why not? We have a so-called “president” who thinks the Constitution is flawed and cannot even prove he is eligible for the office according to the requirements of it, we have a majority party that doesn’t believe in the Constitution, the Courts and the federal government haven’t been going by the Constitution for years.

You know what, both the Dems and the GOP just legislated, however illegally and unconstitutionally it may be, another automatic seat for the Democrats for all eternity in the House. Kind of like the GOP giving the Dems another bullet to shoot them with.

What is this but another blatant assault on the weary Constitution to bring it down brick by brick until it is as the Dems and Libs want it, irrelevant to the way they want to govern us. What will be next? 1^st Amendment, 2^nd Amendment? Soon, if they have their way, it will have no more meaning than the constitution of the USSR or China. Just a piece of paper with good sounding words that nobody thinks about, remembers, respects, or abides by anymore.

Mitt Romney was on Hannity last night speaking great conservative fiscal common sense. I just wonder if those of you who wouldn’t vote for him because of his religion are happy now that you helped huckabee keep him out of office.

Let’s see, fiscal restraint and sound economics, and to go along with it, murdered unborn children, persecution of Christians, and rabid homosexuals running the country by terror? I don’t know that’s kind of a hard choice for me. I don’t know if allowing unfettered murder of the unborn is a just sacrifice to have economic sanity.

I don’t know if that is a fair trade to ask me to do, to have a fiscal conservative with liberal social values or a social conservative with liberal fiscal views. Are you saying I can either choose to have more babies killed, more acceptance of a lifestyle my religion finds sinful and abhorrent, more control over the country by liberals, all along with a sound economy, or a tanking economy but millions more children allowed to live another day and the moral and social fabric that holds my country together restored somewhat? No, not a fair trade at all.

I don’t intend to start an argument here, I am just saying that is a no-win question to me, it is like asking me do I want my country to die economically or morally. Or do I want to be executed by hanging of firing squad. Neither choice is the best, but which is the worst poison?

Personally I’d have to go with saving innocent lives because once they are taken away they can never be brought back, they are gone forever, but an economy can always be fixed over time. Therefore I will stand firm with my preference of Huckabee over Romney, for that reason alone.

Segel: Hey America, Knock Off The Pity Party

There is a lot of hand wringing and moaning going on across the American landscape. The political prevaricators proclaim we are facing such dire times and such agony that it is almost the end of days. Pardon me, but what a bunch of crap!

I am sure there are pockets of pain in various locales across the country. The auto and banking industries have taken a hard hit. But, they do not make up America. The housing situation is bad, but 98% of mortgage holders are making their payments. This is far from the Great Depression that politicos tell us in on the horizon unless we spend our way into oblivion.

Granted, most of our 50 states are running multi-billion dollars lose balance sheets. Why, because the big spending mentality of elected officials has placed them in that dangerous position. Some states, including my state of Texas, require balanced budgets and no red ink spending. They are doing just fine.

The Federal Government desperately needs a law that requires a balanced budget. Then when the Dems have to raise taxes so much on everyone to pay for their kooky social experiments, they might get voted out of office, instead of running up such a debt that our grandchildren’s grandchildren will still be paying for it long after we are dead and gone.

With a speech to match the most eloquent of State of the Union Addresses, with strains of FDR and JFK and a touch of Winston Churchill thrown in, President Obama has clearly staked his presidency on the outcome of the economic crisis.

Whether or not you agree with his prescription for recovery (I don’t), it’s clear that he’s not hedging his bets. If it works, his place in history is assured. If it fails, so is his early retirement.

The speech made it apparent that the Obama administration’s response to this crisis will either go down in history as a success that Americans will admire for decades, or become a case study in economic failure that students and scholars will study and pick apart for generations.

The speech began where it needed to begin, with a bold affirmation of faith in the rebuilding and recovery of America. Then Obama listed some of the more popular parts of his spending-stimulus program.

To me, the economy is like a car and Obama is the driver. He keeps turning the key trying to start it but it won’t start because it is empty and he refuses to put gas in it. And he can’t afford gas to put in it anyway because he has raised the taxes on gas so much.

Burris ignores calls to quit, presides over Senate

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Roland Burris went back to work Wednesday, giving a speech on the Senate floor and presiding over a body he’s been told by many that he should quit.

Burris gave a two-minute speech from the Senate floor in support of a voting rights bill, then presided over the Senate for an hour, a tradition for freshmen. He spent another hour with the Senate gavel later in the evening.

“Allow these 600,000 residents to become full citizens,” Burris told a virtually empty Senate chamber as he spoke in support of a bill that would give a congressional seat to the District of Columbia.

Engaging in the mundane task of presiding over the Senate was the latest sign Burris is hunkering down despite calls for his ouster.

Isn’t that kind of like letting Al Capone preside over his own trial or something to that effect?

Drug cartel’s tentacles stretch across the US

WASHINGTON (AP) — Mexican drug cartels are shipping more than massive quantities of drugs north of the border. Increasingly, they’re also exporting bloody mayhem.

Seeking to stem the growing influence of the Sinaloa cartel within the United States, federal agents arrested more than 50 suspects in raids Tuesday night and Wednesday morning at different ends of the country. The raids capped a 21-month operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration that rounded up 755 suspects and seized more than $59 million in criminal proceeds.

“These cartels will be destroyed,” Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday at a press conference announcing the arrests.

The overnight roundup by DEA and state and local police included arrests in California, Minnesota and the Maryland suburbs of Washington.

If the federal government had done their job and secured the borders a long time ago, they wouldn’t be having this problem now. This is like a soldier in the middle of a battle waiting until he gets shot to shoot back.

Obama: Financial sector needs stronger regulations

WASHINGTON (AP) — After devoting money and time in search of a rescue for the ailing banking sector, President Barack Obama on Wednesday demanded tough new regulations to keep financial institutions in check and avoid future Wall Street meltdowns.

Obama pressed key lawmakers to overhaul the nation’s financial regulatory scheme to restore “accountability, transparency and trust in our financial markets.” He specifically called for a system that would monitor the risks that institutions can take.

“We can no longer sustain 21st century markets with 20th century regulation,” Obama said after meeting with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and the chairmen and top Republicans of the two House and Senate committees charged with writing new regulatory legislation.

The economy is like a great water pipe and regulations are like a valve. The more you close the valve with more regulations, the more you constrict the flow of water and the economy slows down. You close the valve enough with too many regulations and the flow of water stops completely and your economy comes to a standstill or dies altogether.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Guantanamo prison is “well-run now,” with no signs of inmate mistreatment, but the Obama administration remains determined to close it, Attorney General Eric Holder said on Wednesday after a visit this week.

Holder is leading the administration’s effort to close the U.S. detention center for terrorism suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and visited the camp on Monday. He told reporters on Wednesday he saw nothing to support allegations by a human rights lawyer that abuses by guards had increased since President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January.

“I was impressed by the people who are presently running the camp,” Holder said. “I think the facilities there are good ones.”

“Countries won’t deal with us. Our popularity’s down. We don’t have blue chips to trade,” National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair told the House Intelligence Committee.

I’ve got news for Mr. Blair, it would be just like that anyway, with or without Gitmo. At least with it open we can warehouse the terrorists so they can’t do us any more harm. It is better than outright executing them as some of those countries he says won’t deal with us or don’t like us would do.

I feel the same way about foreign aid. Why do we send billions of our tax dollars to countries overseas that hate us and fight against us instead of providing for the poor and unfortunate in our own country? They will hate us just as much if we give them tons of money as they would if we gave them nothing. So what is the point?

Democrats gut Bush policies in spending bill

Democrats, freed from former President George W. Bush’s veto threats, are gutting the previous administration’s programs with funding cuts and policy changes in the omnibus spending bill that the House passed Wednesday.

From including language to “consider” government health care benefits for same-sex domestic partners of federal workers to eliminating D.C. school vouchers, which they consider an affront to the public school system, Democrats say there are plenty of wrongs to right in Mr. Bush’s wake.

The pork-laden bill also slashes funds for abstinence education and erases language prohibiting a “fairness doctrine” law that threatens to squelch conservative talk radio.

Top Democrats and Republicans are already shooting down President Obama’s plan to cut farm subsidies, dealing a blow to one of the cost-savings promises he laid out in his congressional address Tuesday night.

“We’ll have to see what specifically the president is talking about, but we just finished the farm bill last year, and I don’t think we’ll open it up,” said Rep. Collin C. Peterson, Minnesota Democrat and chairman of the House Agriculture Committee.

Likewise, the ranking Republican on the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, said the farm bill, which lasts for five years, “should not be changed midstream.”

Reid to Obama: Let us keep earmarks

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wants the White House to tread lightly on earmarks, saying that any push by the Obama administration to clamp down on pet projects would be met with strong opposition from congressional leaders.

“We cannot let spending be done by a bunch of nameless, faceless bureaucrats,” Reid said, arguing that lawmakers are much more in tune with federal money needs for their states than agencies in Washington.

Reid’s comments came as he and Democratic leaders vowed swift action on Obama’s agenda.

ACLU Signs Add to Washington State’s Immigration Storm

An immigration showdown is brewing on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, where simmering tensions and borderline hostility have fueled a turf war between the local community and the Border Patrol agents assigned to protect it.

Now the American Civil Liberties Union has jumped into the ring and upped the ante, rolling out a campaign that will install signs inside buses informing riders of their rights — to ignore Border Patrol agents.

The signs, entitled, “YOUR RIGHTS with border patrol agents on this bus,” makes three points:

• If you’re a U.S. citizen, you don’t have to prove it.
• If you’re not a U.S. citizen and are 18 or older, you must show your immigration papers to federal agents.
• Everyone has the right to remain silent.

The ACLU, along with the Libs, Dems, Socialists, gays, ACORN, et al, are actively engaged in a war against the US fought from within, and just like terrorists there will be no surrender. Though they might lay low for a while and work in secrecy under the table, they will never give up until they are all wiped out or they achieve victory by bringing down the US and installing their own rule, whether it be despotism, communism, socialism, or what. Right now they are in an active, open warfare stage now that they have the numbers, the strength, and the resources, with the education system, the justice system, and now the federal government in their back pocket. Congress Should Cut Military Spending, Says Democrat Barney Frank

(CNSNews.com) – Congress should cut U.S. military spending by $160 billion, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, proposed at a press conference Tuesday.

Top U.S. Generals Forced to Sign Secrecy Agreement – AP

WASHINGTON — They long ago pledged honor and duty to country, but this year their spoken word was not enough.

Top Pentagon generals and admirals had to sign a letter promising to keep defense budget details secret if they wanted to work on the military’s fiscal plan.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates set the rule, requiring for the first time that each military and civilian official helping prepare the budget sign a non-disclosure statement, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said Wednesday.

The entire Joint Chiefs of Staff signed, promising not to leak information while the budget was being put together. Gates also signed, as did all the high-ranking civilian defense officials working on the budget document, Morrell told a Pentagon press conference.

I wouldn’t put anything past this snake in the grass. He has proven himself to be not only stupid, but inept and negligent to the point of incompetence in other matters before.

Perhaps he wanted the secrecy agreement so that no word would leak out about how much he is going to gut the military until it is already done. Kind of like the stealth by night approach of the Porkulus Bill, all done in secrecy and over before anyone could even know what had been done, much less complain about it.

Call me pessimist but that is the first thing I thought of when I read the headline, he doesn’t want anyone to raise the alarm about how much he is going to cut until it is over and done and too late for anything to be done about it.

Anyway, with a lot of people nowadays, a signed piece of paper means nothing. They’ll still just leak it in a manner that is not traceable back to them, if it is in their own best interests.

On Tuesday night, Barack Obama delivered his first address to a joint session of Congress. Standing before the legislators and the American people, Obama presented a laundry list of spending programs and made the call for even more government intervention. What ever happened to capitalism and the American way of life?

Yes, the speech was everything I thought it might be. But, I’m not sure what made me more angry and frustrated: Obama’s tour de force of socialism or the Republican response. Republicans are supposed to offer an alternative to the Democrats, right? We are the party of smaller government, lower taxes, equal opportunity, and freedom. I heard none of that. How are Republicans supposed to win back seats if America can’t tell the difference between the two?

During his address, Obama used the word “crisis” about 12 times. With each utterance of the word, he is reminding the American people that the only solution lies with more government spending and more government control. As noted in the story Obama vows to lead US from dire ‘day of reckoning’, Obama said, “So I ask this Congress to join me in doing whatever proves necessary. Because we cannot consign our nation to an open-ended recession.”

By his own words, The King betrays his own ignorance of both the English language and economics. All recessions must by definition come to an end. In The Messiah’s butchering of the English language he would have us believe that this recession will continue onward until there is nothing left, kind of like the country and its economy being sucked wholly into a black hole.

Maybe I’m nitpicking with his choice of words, but maybe not. It is all part of his smear campaign against capitalism and campaign of fear and economic disaster in order to get what he wants and accomplish his goal of total conquest of the American way of life. He is a socialism terrorist, inspiring terror and fear of the economy to attain complete control.

His speech about the auto industry is just another example of his double-speak that would make Orwell’s Big Brother proud. You swear you are not going to do something and then in the next breath you swear you are. You can’t have it both ways when it comes to two mutually exclusive actions. If you aren’t, you can’t are, and if you are, you can’t not.

I hope the Republicans who seem to be posturing to cooperate with the Dems on their takeover of America are doing just that, just talking to appease the idiots who voted for Obama and telling them what they want to hear, just like The One himself does. Otherwise, we are in trouble.

Cooperating with Obama is like tying your own noose with which he intends to hang you, putting it around your neck, throwing it over the rafter, and jumping off the chair when he tells you to. Or like him asking you for a gun to shoot you with and you not only giving it to him, but making sure it is loaded and cocked, ready for action. Sorry for the imagery but I’m not very happy at the moment and I’m watching a horror film right to boot. But the film is not as horrible as what Obama is doing to our country and way of life.

Lawsuits challenge sanctuary policies

Margaret Rains and Haley Tepe were sitting down to enjoy ice cream at a Baskin-Robbins in Aurora, Colo., when a sport utility vehicle driven by an illegal immigrant sent two cars plowing into the shop, leaving three dead and the two women injured.

Now the women are taking action against the city of Denver, arguing that its sanctuary-city policy contributed to the Sept. 4 crash. The driver, 23-year-old Francis Hernandez, had been arrested numerous times by Denver police, but was never reported to federal immigration authorities.

“Despite these numerous arrests and the readily ascertainable illegal-immigrant status of Mr. Hernandez, at no time were proper procedures relating to the reporting, detention and handling of illegal immigrants followed by the law-enforcement agencies of the city of Denver,” said the claim, filed on behalf of Ms. Rains.

Only in America do you have to go to court and sue to get a law enforced that should’ve been enforced all along. Only in America do you have to enact a second law to make sure the first law is enforced as it should have been all along.

An increasing number of recent letters and e-mails from readers strike a note, not only of unhappiness with the way things are going in our society, but a note of despair.

Those of us who are pessimists are only a step away from despair ourselves, so we may not be the ones to offer the best antidote to the view that America has seen its best days and is degenerating toward what may well be its worst. Yet what hope remains is no less precious nor any less worthy of being preserved.

First of all, the day-to-day life of most Americans in these times is nowhere near as dire as that of the band of cold, ragged and hungry men who gathered around George Washington in the winter at Valley Forge, to which they had been driven by defeat after defeat.

I wonder would it really take a New York or a Los Angeles or a Chicago or a Miami reduced to radioactive waste to wake up the American public from the deceptive sleep imposed upon them by the pacifists and globalists so inherent within those that are in power now.

And then once awakened I wonder if it would be the “Sleeping Giant” or WWII or would it be a thin, weak, emasculated ghost of that former giant who pathetically paws at the enemy with ghostly, ineffective hands that past right through the enemy with no damage instead of slamming them down hard and squashing them to a bloody pulp like the true giant would have.

I hope I am wrong but I don’t even think a madman in charge of a nuclear Iran threatening to wipe the US off the map as well as Israel would do the trick. It would take actual violent death and by then it would be too late to save the sacrificial goats required to spur this once great but now lazy, selfish, and narcissistic nation into an active defend and attack mode.

Either that or the rise of true leaders who only have the best interest of the country and its people at heart instead of those who only worships themselves and the false god of liberalism and seeks to keep themselves in power no matter what the cost, even if all they are in charge of is a radioactive nuclear wasteland instead of a global power.

The Obama administration has barely had time to get settled into the job, yet the actions of this new president have already transitioned into the surreal. Does anyone really think that Obama or the liberals in Congress would actually cut any government program with the exception of the military and defense?

Radical liberalism strikes again.

Like with most everything else about His Highness Obama, talk about slashing the deficit is just that, talk.

Perhaps as America sees their retirements gutted, their economy in shambles, their country undefended and helpless, and Mexican drug gangs running the countryside, maybe then there will be enough of them come to their senses to throw the Democrats and Obama out. Maybe.

By the way, I contact my reps so many times to absolutely no effect whatsoever as two are far-Left, ultra-liberal dogs and the other is nothing more than a dyed-in-the-wool RINO, so I waste my time and breath there, too. No matter what position I take, I ALWAYS get back a form letter stating their already decided upon position. They don’t care what their constituents say, they already have their minds made up or are told what to say and think and how to vote by higher ups in their parties. All I can do is to try and defeat them in the next election but since I live in a place that is so dark blue it is almost black, I have little chance of that either.

Several minutes after the Taurus rocket carrying the observatory blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, launch managers found that the payload failed to separate.

The orbiting carbon dioxide observatory is lost and probably landed in the Pacific Ocean near Antarctica, said John Brunschwyler, the program manager for the Taurus XL.

That’s kind of funny to me. And a bit of good news in the short term, however, I am sure Comrades Obama, Pelosi, and Reid will be sure and bail out NASA on this and emergency fund a replacement Global Warming Observatory funded of course, by higher taxes on us. But at least they won’t be able to manipulate and falsify data from this one for a while to justify GW and “climate change.”

America’s Founders believed that federal power was a necessary evil that would swallow the liberties their ancestors left Europe to obtain unless it was severely limited. But today we seem to have forgotten that freedom cannot survive the unrestrained governmental encroachments that are raining down daily from our nation’s capital.

You need not have written a doctoral thesis on the political theories espoused in the Federalist Papers to understand that socialism impoverishes nations despite the professed good intentions of its benefactors. You needn’t have a master’s in history to realize that America is the most free and most prosperous nation in the history of the world because its prescient Framers devised a constitution that would maximize liberty by imposing restraints on government. And you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to grasp that unless we put the brakes on our out-of-control federal government soon, we will go the way of all other great nations before us.

The Dems and the Messiah have engaged in double-talk or double-speak more than any dictator ever in history, real or fictional. I assume they believe that if you call a cat a dog enough times, people will begin to call cats dogs and then believe that a cat is really called a dog and has always been called a dog. Like the old saying if you tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth, or at least you come to believe it is the truth. Big Brother’s got nothing on the Dems and the Obama Spin Machine.

It is just plain too bad that way too many Americans are too ignorant or lazy or don’t care enough to see the lies even when they are put right up in their face.

What we really need is enough of the states to get fed up with Washington’s usurpation of their powers and taking powers that the country’s founders never intended for them to have, and going on the offensive about it. I read a story today about how some states have bills in consideration calling out the federal government taking powers that do not belong to it and threatening to invoke one of the clauses in the US Constitution that reserves powers to the states that are not specifically delegated to the federal government. Something like a new States’ Bill of Rights to curtail the Dems’ naked power grab in DC and take back powers that were usurped from them by the feds.

This might be the only way to keep the country from disintegrating from within even if it leads to several states threatening to or actually seceded over tyranny from Washington. Which would be the lesser evil, a fractured former US with several small yet independent states, some outright communist, and some free republics, or the entire country transformed into a huge socialist behemoth so weak from trying to support its own weight that it collapses upon itself?

I’d choose the fractured smaller independent states because then, even though they would be weaker, at least some of the people would be free, instead of slaves to the overburdened, collapsing socialist state where they would have no freedoms at all.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head.

Like I said in another post today, one of the few ways to avert the socialization of the country is for the states to defy Washington and the would-be-communist overlords there and take back their rights that have over time, since FDR, been usurped by the federal government without the state’s permission and any constitutional authority, in fact in defiance of the US Constitution. Such abrogation of constitutional duty and authority by the federal government, some argue, nullifies the agreement between the federal government and the states that incorporates the union.

So the only way out of this tricky political and social morass is for the states to stand up for their rights and demand that the federal government rescind all illegally and unconstitutionally assumed and seized powers it has taken from the states and give them back. Only when the states are so fed up that they have had enough and take a stand will the power, scope, and mandate of the federal government be restored back to the balance intended by the Founders of our nation.

Likely some already socialist states like the status quo as it is and will resist efforts to rein in the federal government and its overreaching powers, like liberal New England and the Left, I mean, the West Coast. So we might end up with an ultimatum from the states that have been getting the shaft from DC, either give up your assumed illegal powers or we bolt, resulting in a balkanization of what was once the US.

If this seems like a far-fetched proposal, if you had been told twenty, ten, or even five years ago that the US would be facing such an economic, cultural, and political crisis such as this that is leading up to the US becoming at the very least a socialist country like Europe and at the worst a communist one like China or the USSR, would you have believed it? So what happens or might happen in the future do not be so dismissive. Sometimes the last thing you expect to happen does.

A private firm, IHS Global Insight, has analyzed the package and stated the results in a webcast briefing. Instead of looking at jobs directly created by the Stimulus bill, IHS estimated how many fewer jobs will be lost in the economy overall.

This is just another undisguised part of the plot by the Dems to permanently take over the US and seal in their power for all time. And they can get away with it because they know the loyal, liberal, lapdog media will cover it up for them.

This part of their plan for conquest involves importing so many immigrants, both legal and illegal, that will vote Democrat for generations in thanks for the Dems granting them citizenships and providing them with free state care for all that they do. Thus the Dems are provided for an eternal voting base to ensure their power forever at little to no cost to them, financially or politically. Meltdown on MSNBC: The Leg Tingle Is Gone?

I can hardly believe what I’m watching on MSNBC right now. Chris Matthews is almost critical — no, not even almost, he’s flat-out critical of President Obama on the economic front. He mentions an earlier conversation with CNBC’s manic stock analyst Jim Cramer and a University of Maryland professor (Peter Morici?) knocking Obama for several economic decisions — that the stimulus bill needed more real infrastructure and less pork, that the housing bill isn’t inspiring confidence and doesn’t look like it will work, and that no one has faith in Tim Geithner’s solution for the banks.

Howard Fineman of Newsweek says Obama has been “grim and a little distant at the same time . . . Tim Geithner hasn’t inspired any confidence anywhere, as far as I can tell.”

Matthews: “He seems like Barney Fife to me.”

Matthews and the MSM like him are hypocrites to the end, even when they get their way.

They knew exactly what they were getting when they pushed this monster onto America. It reminds me of the story of the little girl who picked up a snake after the snake had promised not to bite her. It bit her and she asked it in surprise why? The snake said, I am a snake, I bite. You knew what I was when you picked me up.

In this case the snake is Obama, and nobody should be allowed to say they did not know what they were getting when they bought his bill of goods.

Yale-educated and ACLU-trained, Johnsen already has done one tour of duty at OLC. She spent nearly six years there during the Clinton administration (1993–98), the last two as acting chief. OLC, a critically important agency, is the administration’s lawyers’ lawyer. Staffed by graduates of top law schools who are then polished by elite judicial clerkships, it authoritatively interprets the law for the attorney general and, in doing so, drives administration legal policy. OLC’s credibility is derived from its reputation for apolitical, academic discipline — its commitment to informing policymakers of what the law is, rather than what staffers believe the law should be. Johnsen is, for that reason, a poor fit: She is an ideologue, and an unabashed one.

I would say that every single one of Obama’s nominations for the Justice Dept. carry very severe baggage in terms of past actions, writings, quotes, positions taken, work done, and promises made in order to turn not only the US legal system but the entire country and its government upside down. Every single one. I would list them all here and what baggage they have that makes them unfit to “walk the sidewalk” much less serve in a very high and important office in the nation’s government, but then it would turn into another long post.

Suffice it to say that absolutely NONE of his Justice Dept. nominees are fit to be approved for anything, not even sewer inspector.

On March 14, 1980, President Jimmy Carter gave a televised speech from the East Room of the White House in which he told the American people that “persistent high inflation threatens the economic security of our country” and that the “dangerous situation calls for urgent measures.”

A Time cover story on his speech explained: “his task was not just to proclaim another new anti-inflation program but to calm a national alarm that had begun to border on panic.” Inflation, the magazine observed, was “rapidly becoming Carter’s most dangerous political liability.”

As lawmakers and commentators debated whether President Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus package would effectively combat unemployment and stagnation, less attention was paid to whether it would help trigger something more pernicious.

People are too worried about seeing their retirements, savings accounts, and stock market portfolios evaporated to worry about inflation at this point. You know that society today lives in soundbites for the present moment only, without regard to what might take place in the future. This is the I-want-and-expect-it-now generation raised on instant gratification.

The fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in the recent Gaza incursion may have brought a tentative peace to that region, but on campuses in California — the veritable ground zero of anti-Israel sentiment in the academy — the debate over the 60-year conflict has gained a new, and more insidious, momentum as student demonstrations, protests, and denunciations of racist Zionism, a “brutal occupation,” and “genocide” of Arabs were heard on campuses worldwide.

The virulence of anti-Israelism and antisemitism at The University of California, Irvine campus, for instance, has been so flagrant and endemic in recent years that it actually prompted an investigation by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, the findings of which were issued in a damning 2007 report.

Why, oh, why do Jews vote Democrat every time without fail?

You know darn well if these types of “protests” had been against gays instead of Jews, Israel, the US, Republicans, and conservatives, the National Guard would’ve been called in, everybody would’ve been beaten and arrested and denounced world-wide from the biased, liberal media, but since it is radical Muslims, it is hands-off. It seems radical Muslims have more rights than everybody else or they have their own separate set of rules they are allowed to go by.

Talk about home-grown jihad, what are people going to say when these turn from anti-Israeli to purely anti-American here in our own backyard, just like they have done in countries in Europe with large Muslim populations? Oh, I know, they would say poor, oppressed Arabs and Muslims, the US had it coming, even when they go from protest to suicide bombs just like in Israel and Iraq.

This is only the first precursor raindrops of the coming storm if it is not brought under control and with the climate in the country and the world today, it will not be brought under control, even when cities in the US itself live in fear of suicide bombers and nuclear missile from Iran just like those in Israel.

The Republican governor of Utah on Monday said his party is blighted by leaders in Congress whose lack of new ideas renders them so “inconsequential ” that he doesn’t even bother to talk to them.

“I don’t even know the congressional leadership,” Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. told editors and reporters at The Washington Times, shrugging off questions about top congressional Republicans, including House Minority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. “I have not met them. I don’t listen or read whatever it is they say because it is inconsequential – completely.”

I suppose, being a RINO himself, Huntsman should consider himself “inconsequential” as well.

McCain questions Obama about helicopter at summit

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama never had a helicopter, which he says might explain why he’s perfectly happy with the current White House fleet and doesn’t need a more costly one. At the conclusion of a fiscal summit Monday, Obama faced questions from Republican and Democratic lawmakers, including his former presidential rival, Sen. John McCain.

McCain bemoaned cost overruns in military procurement. The new fleet of 28 Marine One helicopters being built by Lockheed Martin Corp. — now over budget at $11.2 billion — will cost more than Air Force One.

Obama said the helicopter he has now seems adequate, adding that he never had a helicopter before and “maybe I’ve been deprived and I didn’t know it.”

Seems like there are a lot more important and way more expensive things McCain should be getting mad about instead of helicopters, like Porkulus money for ACORN, etc. He should be going after the whales in the Hogzilla bill instead of the minnows. It seems to me it kind of trivializes the big stuff when he makes such a fuss about the small things, although I know they do add up after a while. At the very least the ‘copters serve a purpose, unlike ACORN and most of the rest of the Porkulus. Unless you consider mandatorily transforming the US into a socialist state without regard to the people or the Constitution a purpose.

Hell, you’re not even an American citizen because you won’t, or more likely can’t, produce a legitimate birth certificate.

Rod Blagojevich — will be in charge of the process that determines congressional redistricting and the makeup of the Electoral College.

Since when did the Constitution mean anything to the Democrats? If it is in their favor they will lie, cheat, steal, to get what they want. The hijacking of the census is just another way to pay back their supporters, just like the false-“stimulus” bill, only this time the payback is with census numbers for states, counties, cities, and districts that favored them. I can see red states being cheated out of Electoral College seats. I can see heavily Democratic urban areas overcounted and conservative rural areas undercounted. Despite the pledge for “transparency” in the Obama administration, all I see is thick, black walls.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad clearly wants to do something with the olive branch President Barack Obama has extended to him — even if what he does is stuff it into a Shahab-3 ballistic missile and fire it at somebody.

At a mega-rally for the 30th anniversary of the Islamist revolution, Ahmadinejad echoed the president’s phrase in regard to U.S.-Iran relations, “mutual respect,” and conceded that the Obama administration wanted “to produce change and pursue the course of dialogue.”

It is clear, Ahmadinejad added, that “the Iranian nation welcomes real changes.”

Ahmadinejad and Obama, what a pair. Both say one thing when they mean another entirely. Both have delusions of grandeur. Both are very dangerous men. no wonder they can get along so well together, they are just alike.

I hope Israel is prepared to stand alone against the world for I fear that is what it will be coming down to very shortly.

If their choice is between guaranteed annihilation and possible annihilation, what fool would not do a pre-emptive strike against a rogue nation that has vowed to wipe it off the face of the earth and will soon have nuclear weapons while the rest of the world sits back and watches. The world fiddles while Israel burns. The entire world is just as delusion, naïve, and inept as those in Washington, DC, as they collectively allow a madmen’s regime attain nuclear weapons. How will these Chamberlain-style, peace-at-all-costs countries feel when Iran gets angry with them and lobs a warhead to them?

While a preemptive Israeli strike against Iranian nuclear capability will without a doubt infuriate all the Muslims and Arabs and may infuriate the rest of the world, they really have no choice in the matter, even if it might lead to either Israel’s real annihilation of WWIII.

Too bad we don’t have a Netanyahu on our side.

Kudlow, Santelli Push Back Hard at Mortgage-Mod Program, Harder at Gibbs

CNBC reporter Santelli’s Thursday morning “Shout Heard Round the World” (CNBC’s term) objecting to the Obama administration’s mortgage modification program on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange quickly went viral, and struck two nerves. First, it ignited a groundswell of support from the over 90% of the of the nation that pays its bills and plays by the (normal) rules. The other nerve it struck was at the White House, whose spokesman Robert Gibbs struck back with a level of poorly concealed fury and contempt that I don’t think I’ve seen publicly displayed by any other administration in my lifetime.

This is the old Liberal fall-back defensive position adopted by the Democrats, and especially the Obama crowd, when they were taken over by the Liberals. If you can’t defeat the message, attack the messenger with ‘extreme prejudice.’ Look at what the Left did to Sarah Palin. Look at what The Messiah himself said about Rush Limbaugh. Look at what the media and partisan Dems did to Joe the Plumber.

This is just another example of their arrogance and abuse of power in any form they can conjure.

Jerry Jones says Dallas Cowboys’ gag order necessary

After the season ended, Jones told the coaching staff, including head coach Wade Phillips, to not speak “independently” to the media in the off-season, which is a departure from the policy in place since Phillips took over in 2007.

Oklahoma City police officer pulls man over for anti-Obama sign on vehicle

The police officers who stopped Oklahoma City motorist Chip Harrison and confiscated a sign from his car told him he has a right to his beliefs, but the Secret Service “could construe this as a threat against President Obama,” according to the incident report released this morning.

The sign, which read “Abort Obama Not the Unborn,” was returned to Harrison later that day, the report said.

Police spokesman Steve McCool said this morning that the sign was taken in error, and Oklahoma City residents should not be worried that their First Amendment rights will be violated.

If a man could get pulled over with that benign bumper sticker then I must already be under a sentence of death for all the things I’ve said and written about The One in the last couple of years.

Does SS stand for Schutzstaffel now instead of Secret Service?

Another sign of the transformation to fascism under Pelosi, Reid, and Obama. How many more will there be before we have to say, “Hail, Obama!” or some other such nonsense.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says he wants to consider taxing motorists based on how many miles they drive rather than how much gasoline they burn — an idea that has angered drivers in some states where it has been proposed.

Gasoline taxes that for nearly half a century have paid for the federal share of highway and bridge construction can no longer be counted on to raise enough money to keep the nation’s transportation system moving, LaHood said in an interview with The Associated Press.

“We should look at the vehicular miles program where people are actually clocked on the number of miles that they traveled,” the former Illinois Republican lawmaker said.

Oh, the irony and blatant hypocrisy of it! They want us to switch to more fuel efficient vehicles and then they want to punish us by taxing us by the mile instead of gallon! Talk about taking a beating and then getting kicked when you’re down! They want to have their cake and eat it too.

At the same time why don’t we just kill the trucking and transportation industry, and taxi drivers while we’re at it! Is this a backhanded plan to get everyone to use public transportation? Are they going to tax cities the miles driven by their buses, police cars, firetrucks, and maintenance vehicles? If so, I am sure you will see a explosion in the use of company or government vehicles used by employees to conduct personal business.

I personally agree with the assertion that it is being used as just an excuse to outfit all vehicles with GPS so the present regime can track the movements of all their enemies and use it against them. If this happens, I would have to go underground and find someway to bypass or disable the device. I am sure there would be an underground industry spring up to do just that.

I can hear George Orwell saying in his grave, “I told you so. I might be about 25 years late but I got it right.”

Just when I think it can’t get any worse, it does.

Imagine That… Playing the ‘Race’ Card Again

If there’s one thing that really gets under my skin, it’s racial politics. Despite the Democrats’ claim that they are for equality, they continue to not only promote policies that favor one racial or ethnic group over another, but they also play the “race” card any chance they get.

Forget about having a fair, open, and honest debate. When the stakes are high, you can bet that if the race card can be played, it certainly will. The latest example deals with the GOP governors who are considering rejecting all or part of the stimulus. Forget that they have serious misgivings about the bill and the way the funds must be spent. Clearly their opposition is based on racial prejudice, right? Give me a break!

Bobby is absolutely right. The Libs and Dems do indeed play the race card every single time they can to get what they could not otherwise, both as individuals and as a whole. This results in reverse-racism, a prime example of which is this idiot Clyburn. If one of these governors who are ideologically opposed to using fraudulent or strings-attached “stimulus” money was black would he have said the same of them? I doubt it. Why isn’t our RNC Chairman jumping up and down screaming about the injustice of Clyburn’s comments?

The sad fact is, anytime you disagree with anything a Lib or Dem wants, you are racist, prejudiced, full of hate, or whatever. The race card is the faithful crutch on which they rely when all else fails because it has never failed them before, due to the fact that too much of America is still guilt-ridden over slavery that was ended generations ago.

Dow ends at lowest close in more than 6 years

NEW YORK (AP) — An important psychological barrier gave way on Wall Street Thursday as the Dow Jones industrials fell to their lowest level in more than six years.

The Dow broke through a bottom reached in November, pulled down by a steep drop in key financial shares. It was the lowest close for the Dow since Oct. 9, 2002, when the last bear market bottomed out.

The blue chips’ latest slide dashed hopes that the doldrums of November would mark the ending point of a long slump in the market, which is now nearly halfway below the peak levels reached in October 2007.

Kind of tells you how much the market likes Obama’s “stimulus” and economic plan, doesn’t it? Is anybody listening? Thought not.

Dobson students question Obama’s plan

A Dobson High School Advanced Placement government class with strong opinions about Barack Obama watched the president’s speech Wednesday on a small, grainy TV in the corner of their classroom.

Some of the students attentively watched the speech, giving questioning looks and comments, shaking their heads and laughing at some of Obama’s words. Other students listened, occasionally glancing up to watch, while texting on their cell phones, reading a book or finishing school work.

Maybe there is a smidgen of hope for the future after all. Unless by the time these kids get old enough to act, the country is already to far gone toward socialism or fascism, or too far in debt and weak for anyone but God Himself to save us.

Bank nationalization would pose hurdles for Obama

The nationalization of even a handful of U.S. banks, which some analysts see as increasingly likely, would pose political problems for President Obama.

Obama has worked hard to portray himself as a centrist since his election, and federal ownership of troubled banks would play into arguments that he is a left-of-center politician.

It would also play into the hands of GOP critics. Last October, Alaska Gov. and then Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin claimed Obama wanted to “experiment with socialism.”

Could this be because BH Obama was to be and is the new president of the US?

“I’m concerned that we may end up having to do that [nationalize US banks], at least for a short time.”

In my experience, nothing the Left, Libs, or Socialists ever do is “for a short time,” it is irrevocably forever.

Once you have gone there, nationalizing the bank system, there is no going back. How are you going to divide up the assets? What if someone wants to sell or buy stock when it is held in government hands?

Worst of all, if the banking industry is nationalized, what is next? What is to stop the feds under Obama from nationalizing the failing auto industry too? What will be the next industry that is in danger of failing that the Socialists have to nationalize to “save it?” If they want control of something all they have to do is say it is in danger and then nationalize it, like socialist governments all over the world have been doing for years and years. Hugo Chavez is a prime example of nationalizing in order to exert total control.

I fear nationalizing banks will only be the beginning and the first slip down an steep, icy slope from which there will never be a chance to climb back.

If you hear that Obama-Pelosi-Reid have nationalized the US banking system, then know that it truly is the end. Time to shut down the country and hang a sign outside that says, Closed – All Gone Nuts.

WASHINGTON — The Biden prophecy has come to pass. Our wacky veep, momentarily inspired, had predicted last October that “it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama.” Biden probably had in mind an eve-of-the-apocalypse drama like the Cuban Missile Crisis. Instead, Obama’s challenges have come in smaller bites. Some are deliberate threats to U.S. interests, others mere probes to ascertain whether the new president has any spine.

Preliminary X-rays are not very encouraging.

Consider the long list of brazen Russian provocations:

Instead of being the first man to blink in a confrontation, Obama will be the first man to bend over and say kick me in the butt. I would prefer to use a synonym for donkey but don’t know if it would be tolerated here.

He’s going to wind up being the heel hound to any foreign leader, terrorist group, and petty dictator in the world, not to mention a lap dog to the UN, Al Gore, and Socialists and Liberals world-wide.

Instead of the United States of America we will be derided as the United States of Wimps.

An A for Effort? Talk About a Lousy Idea

There’s a wicked little piece in today’s NYT about how college students’ somehow, somewhere along the way came to believe that if they put in the effort then they automatically deserve a high grade, regardless of the actual quality of their work.

The article cites research into the subject. For instance:

A recent study by researchers at the University of California, Irvine, found that a third of students surveyed said that they expected B’s just for attending lectures, and 40 percent said they deserved a B for completing the required reading.

But the tastiest bits are the too-entitled-to-be-believed quotes from real, live college students. As Sarah Kinn, a junior English major at the Unvierty of Vermont, told the Times:

“I feel that if I do all of the readings and attend class regularly that I should be able to achieve a grade of at least a B.”

No wonder the US ranks near last among industrialized, Western countries in education. The policy of entitlement, i.e. give me what I want just because I want it, that has been indoctrinated into both education and society in general for years by the Liberal media and education system, and provided by the Libs and Dems, has now convinced students that they are entitled to not only pass but get good grades just for showing up once in a while, regardless of whether they actually learn the material.

What an atrocity. But that is what the Dems in government have been preaching for years. Take out a bad loan? We’ll bail you out. Buy more than you can afford? We’ll pay the rest. Lose you job? Don’t worry about it, we’ll give you money for sitting on your butt doing nothing. and so it goes.

The sense of entitlement leads to mediocrity, which is probably what the Socialists and Communists had in mind because the stupid are more easily led around by the nose ring than those who actually know things.

As a teacher, I experienced this first hand. The worst part was when the parent had the audacity to think their child was entitled to an A just for showing up. This happens more times than you would think. If the kid was unsatisfied with the grade earned, all they had to do was whine to mommy and poppy and the next day they would be in the principal’s office complaining. At some schools, the administration had the guts to tell the parents to go stuff themselves, at others the administration ordered the teachers to pass out A’s like they were Halloween candy or something, regardless of the grade earned.

Of course this hurt the hardworking, studious kids as much as the do-nothing, give-me-what-I-want loafers as well. Why should the kid who busted his butt all semester doing what he was supposed to be equal at the end to the kid who did nothing but knows he can rely on his parents to complain and get it anyway? At the same time the lazy, do-nothing kid learns nothing which will hurt him next semester or next year when he is forced to take a class for which the class he did nothing and got credit for was a prerequisite. He or she is lost because they don’t know the material. And this time mommy and daddy might not be able to make it better. I tried to explain to the kids that this was not how it worked at most colleges where they truly don’t care whether you show up or whether you pass or anything about you and have so much money of their own, they don’t care how rich or powerful mommy or daddy was back in their hometown.

The only outlet I got which made it worthwhile to go to work every day was in coaching where I could truly and easily point out where hard work made a difference and those that worked were rewarded and those that didn’t, well, it showed very obviously on the field or court or track. That is one thing that athletes understand very well, much more than the rest of the student body and one reason why they are in most cases the best behaved, most motivated, and most studious students in a school. They know it makes a difference.

Sorry this turned into a tirade about the decrepitness of today’s US education system and sorry for my bias towards athletes, but that at least was the way it was at every single school I ever worked at without fail, no matter the neighborhood, social climate, demographics, or ethnicity.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration and the new Congress are quickly handing over to Republicans the same “culture of corruption” issue that Democrats used so effectively against the GOP before coming to power.

Freshman Sen. Roland Burris, D-Ill., is only the latest embarrassment.

Senate Democrats accepted Burris because they believed what he told them: He was clean. Burris now admits he tried to raise money for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who authorities say sought to sell President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat.

“The story seems to be changing day by day,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Wednesday.

Don’t ya’ll know by now it’s all right to be as crooked and corrupt as the day is long if you’re a Democrat? It’s only when you’re a Republican that you get in trouble. At least that’s what they and the MSM think.

GOP Governors Now Faced with Hot Potato

The stimulus bill has been signed into law. Every Republican in the U.S. House opposed it, and all but three (Specter, Snowe, and Collins) opposed it in the Senate. For the most part, Republicans stood united in opposing a bill that is clearly the biggest move toward socialism in the history of the country. Rather than cutting taxes and letting each American decide how to “stimulate” the economy, Obama and friends said, “Government knows best, and here’s how we’re going to do it.”

So what happens next? What happens if you are a GOP governor? You stand to receive billions from the bill, yet you philosophically oppose the entire plan. If you don’t believe in big government solutions, do you still accept big government funds? That is the question.

If it comes with unacceptable strings, I would not accept it. Or I would accept it and then conveniently “forget” about the strings like Geithner conveniently “forgot” about paying taxes. With all that money being blown it could take years for them to figure out if you were going by all the strings attached and by then you would probably be out of office and it would be too late to do anything about it. Yes, I would adopt a play out of the Democrats’ playbook and use it myself against them.

On the other hand if there are no strings attached I would think you would be obligated to take it even if you were diametrically opposed to it in principle, just so that you let everyone know how much you hated taking the money. The rationale being, the money is already out there being spent and if you don’t take it, somebody else will, so it might as well be you. Then once you get the money you can do sensible things with it, like shoring up your rainy day fund, saving it for a rainy day even worse than this one, or use it to strengthen your bottom line.

That is what I would do anyway, take the check making no mistakes about how much it stunk but being forced to so somebody else couldn’t use it to advance the socialist agenda. In fact with a conservative governor or state legislature in charge of the money, it could conceivably be used to combat advancing socialism, as long as there were no stipulations placed on it.

Sowell: Upside Down Economics

From television specials to newspaper editorials, the media are pushing the idea that current economic problems were caused by the market and that only the government can rescue us.

What was lacking in the housing market, they say, was government regulation of the market’s “greed.” That makes great moral melodrama, but it turns the facts upside down.

It was precisely government intervention which turned a thriving industry into a basket case.

An economist specializing in financial markets gave a glimpse of the history of housing markets when he said: “Lending money to American homebuyers had been one of the least risky and most profitable businesses a bank could engage in for nearly a century.”

So the lesson I got out of this is that as the new Marxist government regulates and gets more control over more and more industries, those too will begin to fail like lined up dominoes. I can already see the auto industry next in line after the financial industry to fall. Who will it be after that? Communications? Entertainment? I guess it will be whoever is most regulated by Karl Obama, Vladimir Reid, and Josephina Pelosi.

NY Post cartoon of dead chimpanzee stirs outrage

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York Post cartoon that some have interpreted as comparing President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee gunned down by police drew outrage Wednesday from civil rights leaders and elected officials who said it echoed racist stereotypes of blacks as monkeys.

The cartoon in Wednesday’s Post by Sean Delonas shows two police officers, one with a smoking gun, standing over the body of a bullet-riddled chimp. The caption reads: “They’ll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill.”

The cartoon refers to a chimpanzee named Travis who was killed Monday by police in Stamford, Conn., after it mauled a friend of its owner.

I saw this cartoon and it didn’t even really make any sense to me to equate the rampaging monkey with the stimulus bill. Kind of like comparing, say, Charley Brown with nuclear weapons. The two don’t even have an imaginary bond to link them. It was just a stupid cartoon made too much of for no reason other than the fact that it was a very, very bad one.

Bill Clinton says America needs the Fairness Doctrine because conservative talk radio is sounding “a blatant drumbeat” against the stimulus package. He complained on a liberal talk show on Feb. 12 that “there has always been a lot of big money to support the right-wing talk shows.”

Well, there’s big money because millions tune in to those shows. Sponsors support programs that people want.

Clinton’s call for government-enforced intrusion into the airwaves came days after similar remarks by Sens. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.). The growing liberal affection for the idea of reining in talk radio should send a chill up any freedom lover’s back.

Are they so consumed with power lust and corruption that they truly cannot see the hypocrisy and unconstitutionality of this? Or can they and believe they can really get away with it? I choose B.

They don’t see any reason for a Fairness Doctrine to apply to TV, movies, news, papers, entertainment, etc., because they, or their lackeys, already have a monopoly or control over them. The only thing they don’t totally dominate, radio and the internet, they seek to control so that they have a clean sweep of everything.

I cannot believe the American people will allow this to happen, never in my darkest nightmares of ‘1984,’ ‘Brazil,’ etc. I never thought I would ever live in a communist, fascist country that used to be the United States of America, home of the brave and land of the free. The forefathers must be rolling over in their graves in a frenzy of outrage and sadness.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Inflation at the wholesale level surged unexpectedly in January, reflecting sharply higher prices for gasoline and other energy products.

The Labor Department said Thursday that wholesale prices increased by 0.8 percent last month, the biggest gain since last July and well above the 0.2 percent increase that economists had expected.

The acceleration was led by a 3.7 percent surge in energy prices with gasoline prices jumping by 15 percent, the biggest gain in 14 months.

Something is wrong with this picture. I thought the Messiah and his Disciples, Saint Harry and Saint Nancy, with their “stimulus” were going to take care of all this for us. What is wrong?

Somehow, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-CA) has been able to keep a straight face while decrying the “culture of corruption” among Republicans. In retrospect, the nature of the infractions on which she based the accusation seem almost quaint in comparison to the unfathomable abuses of federal monies and power now occurring under a Democrat controlled Congress and Executive branch.

For starters, she was forced to misapply the term to what were, in reality, only scandals, such as the sordid e-mails and text messages of Congressman Mark Foley (R.-FL) to congressional pages, or the amorous toe-tapping, apparently intended to incite interest from the occupant of the next stall, by Senator Larry Craig (R.-ID) in a Minneapolis Airport restroom.

And Democrats think Nixon was corrupt and George Bush was corrupt. Even Nixon was a choirboy compared to the criminal thugs and cheats in this administration, up to and including the criminal-in-chief. Like many others have said and I have said many times, it any one of these fiends was a Republican they would have been crucified and run out of town on a rail after being tarred and feathered publicly by the media and the Dems in Congress. But there are two sets of rules, one for Democrats and one for everybody else.

Will the country as a whole EVER wake up and say enough is enough? I’m sure not going to hold my breath.

Google Earth Exposes Secret U.S. Drones at Pakistan Base in 2006

The U.S. was secretly flying unmanned drones from the Shamsi airbase in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Baluchistan as early as 2006, according to an image of the base from Google Earth, the Times of London reported Thursday.

The image — that is no longer on the site but which was obtained by The News, Pakistan’s English language daily newspaper — shows what appear to be three Predator drones outside a hangar at the end of the runway.

The Times also obtained a copy of the image, whose coordinates confirm that it is the Shamsi airfield, also known as Bandari, about 200 miles southwest of the Pakistani city of Quetta.

Both the Democrats and the media have been doing this very same thing nearly non-stop ever since 9-11.

With politicians like this and news coverage like this, we would’ve lost WWII and all be speaking German now, or we would’ve for certain lost the Cold War and all be speaking Russian right now. I suppose it you iterate it one more time, with coverage like this we will lose the war against terrorism and be speaking Arabic and bowing to Mecca six or seven times a day.

The fact that this is Google does not surprise me at all, it is a well-known far-Left, ultra-Liberal company with hugely strong socialist leanings, like Microsoft. They were one of the largest corporate sponsors and contributors to defeat Prop. 8 in California. Who knows what other un-American activities they support, both openly and covertly.

President Obama yesterday announced his plan to prevent home foreclosures, saying he wanted to be “very clear about what this plan will not do: It will not rescue the unscrupulous or irresponsible by throwing good taxpayer money after bad loans . . . And it will not reward folks who bought homes they knew from the beginning they would never be able to afford.”

We really do wish he were right. In fact, the details released yesterday suggest the President’s plan will do all of the above. The plan will help some struggling homeowners. But by investing in failure, the Administration will also prolong the housing downturn and make financing a home purchase more difficult for future borrowers. Meanwhile, the plan isn’t likely to slow the continuing decline in housing prices.

So the Hussein regime is going to continue doing the exact same thing that got us into this mess in the first place, and is going to make it twice as bad and last twice as long. I guess this self-made “crisis” was not big enough to get all he wants done to socialize the US, he needs more “crisis.”

What really, really makes me sick is the fact that I scrimped and saved and lived within my means for years in a place I could afford while other people lived beyond their means in much, much finer houses in better neighborhoods that they knew good and well they could never afford, and now their unscrupulousness and duplicity gets rewarded and they get to continue to live in a house better than me, even though I never took out a bad loan in my life. The world truly has turned completely upside down, there wrong is right and bad is good. How do I explain that to my kids?

I promise this is the last time I will refer to my new book, “Paranoid Nation.” But not in my wildest dreams could there have been a more fitting title or theme to reflect the onslaught of insanity we’re bombarded with these days in media. Policy overkill is ruling the times.

For starters, look at the banks. They got hoards of bailout money, but lending hasn’t increased. And now that there are restrictions on the use of the funds and the salaries of their executives, many of those same institutions say they won’t need a second round of bailout money after all!

Plus, the markets were spooked by the dearth of details provided by the new Treasury secretary on how that second round of aid to financial institutions would work.

“Keep an eye on the 2010 congressional elections. They might just signal to President Obama that paranoia, when exploited, can trigger reverse consequences from those intended.”

One can only hope. Call me pessimistic, but I think “hope” has been appropriated by the liberals and socialists masquerading as Democrats and is nowhere to be found for the next few years in which we have to suffer.

With taxpayers shelling out $700 billion to bail out Wall Street and another $787 billion to jolt the sputtering economy, serious questions are being raised about whether all the government intervention is taking the country down the path to socialism.

Numbers show the U.S. is drifting ever closer to the socialist systems popular within the European Union. In 1999, government spending made up 34.3 percent of gross domestic product, or GDP, the broadest barometer used to measure the health of the economy. That number is projected to grow to nearly 40 percent by next year.

Government spending within the majority of European Union nations averages 47.1 percent of the GDP, meaning the U.S. is roughly seven points behind — closer than ever before.

Duh! Yeah! Any fool or idiot, you know, anyone a little bit smarter than a Liberal or a Democrat, would know this to be fact.

But then again, this is what the Libs and Dems want.

WASHINGTON – Eric Holder, the nation’s first black attorney general, said Wednesday the United States was “a nation of cowards” on matters of race, with most Americans avoiding candid discussions of racial issues. In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

“Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” Holder said.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, but “we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race.”

Besides being a liar and a crook (Marc Rich and FALN pardons), Holder has proven himself to be a racist as well. This is a matter of the kettle calling the pot black, no pun intended. Really, that is just the first thought that came to my head to show the absurdity of his views.

I’ve read studies that prove many areas of cities remain black because that is where the blacks choose to move to and live. The same with white and Hispanics. There is no racism involved when people choose to live near other people like them, it is just a matter of individual choice. It could be called self-segregation I suppose, but that is not illegal as far as I know. At least not yet.

Like was said earlier, you choose to be around who you want to, which most likely are people like you who have more things in common. Which is not cowardly racism. The only cowardly racism I hear is out of the mouth of dolts like Holder, who shouldn’t even be in office anyway, past on his past record and dangerous ideology.

“It is no surprise that many do not want to get into a “…candid discussions of racial issues…” when any time a non-minority disagrees with a minority, or basically any liberal for that matter, on any issue, be it affirmative action, welfare, the mortgage fiasco, immigration, etc., the first word out of the other side’s mouth is “racist.””

I know that’s right. Racism is the trump card to end all trump cards when minorities and, by extension, Liberals, don’t get what they want by any other means. In fact it is frequently the first card played to get whatever they want so quickly that no fuss can be made about it or any opposition allowed to spring up.

You could have the most sound, most logical, most fact based argument ever in the history of mankind but if a Liberal doesn’t like it, all he has to do is call it racist and it isn’t worth the paper it is written on or even the breath used to speak about it.

A few years ago I read an article called the Tyranny of the Minority, that expounded upon the fact that the government of the US is not rule by the majority, but rule by the minority, no matter what the case. And that is the case here, no doubt.

And the Nazi-style, Obama-thug-machine ratchets up its activities. I see that where I live is ground zero for one of their thug bombs.

It seems even after his election, Obama will still rely on mob-mentality and thug-rule to force his agenda down the throats and on the backs of honest, hard-working Americans in favor of those who just want a free ride for life and will join the mob army to get it.

Drug gangs drive off cops, terrorize Mexican town

VILLA AHUMADA, Mexico (AP) — For people caught inside Mexico’s drug corridors, life is about keeping your head down and watching your back, especially when the sun dips behind the cactus-studded horizon.

No town knows this better than Villa Ahumada, where the entire police force quit after 70 cartel hit men roared through last spring, killing the police chief, two officers and three townspeople.

Residents were left defenseless again last week when gunmen returned and kidnapped nine people, despite the soldiers manning checkpoints far outside town.

“This was a mellow town where we would walk along main street at night. But now we’re too scared to even go out,” said Zaida de Santiago.

How long until a byline in a story like this says Texas, or Arizona, or California, or New Mexico? Or even Florida or New York, as the border gates are flung wide open under the new power structure in DC and the drug gangs drive ever farther northward in conquest of the entire North American continent.

And what will Obama-Reid-Pelosi do about it? Nada. Just invite more illegals in and grant them citizenship so that they can vote Democrat forever and keep the Socialists in power until the end of time. Which for the US might only be a few more years.

GM, Chrysler seek billions more, to cut more jobs

DETROIT (AP) — Billions of dollars in government loans to prop up General Motors and Chrysler won’t be enough. The companies, which have received $17.4 billion so far, filed plans with the government more than doubling that request to a staggering total of $39 billion.

The requests, made in government-required restructuring plans filed Tuesday, were accompanied by plans for thousands more job cuts, slashing of models and brands, union concessions and the prospect of even further expense cuts.

In a dramatic acknowledgment that conditions in the U.S. auto industry have grown significantly worse in just two months, GM alone said it would cut 47,000 jobs globally by the end of the year — 19 percent of its work force. It also said it would close five more U.S. factories, although it did not identify them.

It is time to let them and the UAW die together instead of nationalizing a tax-money-draining black hole.

A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government’s art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.

The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush’s tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: “Thanks, but no thanks.”

Either Obama felt the bust of Winnie was inappropriate in the office of a communist president or the bust was screaming to be let out of the office of a communist president and the commie obliged it.

This would’ve been kind of like a bust of Churchill in the Kremlin office of Khrushchev or Brezhnev or a bust of Marx, Stalin, or Lenin the oval office of Ronald Reagan.

Actually this is probably a good thing because you know what happens when matter and anti-matter touch. They annihilate each other. The communist Obama in the same office as a bust of the conservative Churchill could’ve annihilated Washington, DC.

A bust of Churchill is too good to be in an office of Obama anyway. If Churchill was still alive today he probably would’ve insisted it be removed.

Newt Gingrich: Well it’s almost an anti-stimulus package. They begin to repeal the 1996 welfare reform, they dramatically increase the amount of government spending, they turn more power over to big government, they turn money over to state and local officials without any reforms, and frankly, they also begin to set all sorts of interference in the private market which will make it much harder for Americans to compete with foreign companies. So, you’re setting the stage for American businesses to begin to behave like bureaucracies; politicians having influence.

He could just sum it up by saying it is an anti-American bill.

Rancher cleared in rights case

A federal jury in Tucson ruled Tuesday that an Arizona rancher did not violate the civil rights of 16 Mexican nationals he stopped after they sneaked illegally into the United States, but awarded $78,000 in actual and punitive damages on claims of assault and the infliction of emotional distress.

The jury of four men and four women returned the verdict Tuesday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Tucson after a day and a half of deliberation. The jury, after a nine-day trial, also threw out charges of false imprisonment, battery and conspiracy against Douglas, Ariz., rancher Roger Barnett.

Well, that’s some good news in an otherwise dreary week, month, year, century, whatever. That he wasn’t imprisoned or forced to pay millions for protecting his own property.

However I see his reward for doing the job of the federal government and the Border Patrol was a fine of $78,000. What a country. Justice is so perverted and subverted here these days.

I wonder did the illegals get to stay in the country anyway since their imaginary “rights” were violated at the same time that they were breaking the law?

If it was up to me, I’d just put a bounty on every illegal crossing the border. That would stop illegal immigration right away.

Blankley: Obama’s Governing Style

In the Middle Ages, when a young prince suddenly and prematurely became king, the royal court, the church leadership and other senior aristocrats would scrutinize his every word and habit for signs of what kind of mind would be deciding their country’s fate and their personal prosperity and safety. Today, around the world, President Barack Obama’s every word, every action, every inaction is being likewise scrutinized for similar reasons.

Prior to the November election, the only evidence we had of Mr. Obama’s managing style — and that evidence was indirect — was the management of his campaign, which was brilliant. But whether he was its active manager or merely took guidance from a shrewd Svengali remains to be known.

Since the election, we have begun to get hints of his management style in four items Mr. Obama himself has described as of the highest priority to him — and thus, one presumes, items to which he would have given his personal attention: Cabinet selection, closing Gitmo, the stimulus package and bipartisanship.

Sometimes I wonder if Obama is really ruling or if someone else is pulling the strings, such as Pelosi and Reid, and Obama is just a puppet, a figurehead, or a mouthpiece. Or maybe it is his Cabinet running everything behind his back, everybody doing their own thing for their own benefit, or the benefit of their beliefs.

Personally I think Obama is a stooge for even more sinister powers than Pelosi and Reid, powers that generate from the depths of Hell itself, that encourages destructive chaos in order to destroy the country.

Morris: Rahm’s ‘Rent’ Is Just The Tip Of Ethics Iceberg

News broke last week that Rahm Emanuel, now White House chief of staff, lived rent – free for years in the home of Rep. Rosa De Lauro (D-Conn.) – and failed to disclose the gift, as congressional ethics rules mandate. But this is only the tip of Emanuel’s previously undisclosed ethics problems.

One issue is the work Emanuel tossed the way of De Lauro’s husband. But the bigger one goes back to Emanuel’s days on the board of now-bankrupt mortgage giant Freddie Mac.

Emanuel is a multimillionaire, but lived for the last five years for free in the tony Capitol Hill townhouse owned by De Lauro and her husband, Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg.

Instead of change it is more of the same, except worse. The Obama regime and the Democratic Party in general seem to be bottomless pits of corruption.

Why would President Barack Obama permit or want to move oversight of the U.S. Census from the Commerce Department to the White House?

After all, does he not understand that it is in the interest of all Americans to have the U.S. Census process remain non-political?

And, does he not understand that it is in his reputational interest, as our new president, that there should not be any question, or even the appearance, of Chicago-style politics being installed in his administration?

Despite the wisdom of keeping political hands off the census, the temptation appears to have been too strong for Mr. Obama and his political allies.

Our elected officials need to be contacted about this immediately. This cannot be allowed to happen and should be challenged in court by somebody with standing. I really hope Obama doesn’t get away with this like he has so many other things. It is bad enough that he had control over the next Supreme Court appointees.

Why isn’t the media screaming bloody murder over this? Oh, yeah, I forgot, they’re in Obama’s back pocket and WANT it to happen so that they can all work together to make this a socialist country with the Democrats in charge forever.

You can bet your last dollar, though, that if a Republican president had proposed this shift, the left-wing, liberal press would be jumping up and down screaming bloody murder over it and never let him get away with it. But since it is their Anointed One, obviously a Democrat, it is OK with them.

Rep. Henry Waxman Wants to Apply Censorship Doctrine to the Internet

If Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) is not trying to investigate conservatives, he is trying to squelch their voices. Waxman has jumped into the so-called Fairness Doctrine discussion as of late. Waxman, however, has added another dimension to the issue…the internet (h/t The Prowler).

Media Research Center’s Jeff Poor spoke with FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell last year about the internet and the Fairness Doctrine. McDowell talked about a real possibility of internet content being regulated in the near future.

Does anybody else hear “1984” knocking on the door? No, really pounding on the door?

Our new Masters now don’t even hide the fact that they want total and complete control over every type of information known to man. Can a fascist dictatorship be too far behind, if they get their way?

If these people have their way, porn and all kinds of perversion will be freely available to any child on the internet in the Libs and Dems name of Free Speech, yet conservative opinions will be outlawed and banned as “hate speech” or “subversive” or “dangerous” or whatever label they want to put on it to keep it prohibited.

However, unlike radio, I really don’t see how these neo-Nazi’s can control the internet like they can the airwaves. By the nature of its very design the internet will be far too hard to completely regulate the way they want it. If they can’t control illegal betting sites, fraud sites, porn sites, I don’t hardly see how they can rid the web of conservative sites. Conservatives might have to go underground like the gamblers and the fraudsters but they would still be there in some form if the right people knew where to look.

But still just the very idea that they want to shut us down and shut us out is very infuriating and the fact that they can be so open about it makes it doubly infuriating. Some days, like this one, I seriously wonder if the whole world has gone insane.

California to begin layoffs proceedings today

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — After a frustrating holiday weekend that failed to yield the one vote needed to end California’s budget stalemate, the state is poised to begin layoff proceedings Tuesday for 20,000 government workers.

In addition to the layoffs, the state also plans to halt all remaining public works projects, potentially putting thousands of construction workers out of jobs.

“We are dealing with a catastrophe of unbelievable proportions,” said state Sen. Alan Lowenthal, a Democrat from Long Beach and chairman of the Senate transportation committee.

The Messiah and his minions in Congress, or could it be Pelosi, Reid, and their stooge in the White House, will just bail them out eventually like they do every constituency that is faithful and loyal to them. And Kalifornia has been very, very faithful to the Democratic Party for years and years.

I’ve got nothing against the good, conservative people of California, and I know there are very many. It is just that they are severely outnumbered and live in a very inhospitable place for their views and values. I know how they feel, I live in South Florida, the darkest blue part of a purplish state (somewhere in the middle between red and blue because we haven’t figured out what we want to be yet).

Sometimes you can’t help it if you live in a place where the madmen are in charge.

The return to what many Republicans consider their small-government, tax-cut roots is driving unity in a party that now lacks power in the White House and in the Democratic-controlled House and Senate.

Only three Republicans – Senate moderates – voted for the $787 billion measure aimed at pulling the country out of recession. The rest assailed it as filled with pet projects, too light on tax cuts, and too quickly pushed through Capitol Hill.

It’s “a long wish list of big government spending that won’t work. It won’t create jobs. It won’t stimulate this economy. And it may do more harm than good,” Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., declared after opposing the bill.

I really hate reading articles about Republicans or really politics in general in the mainstream news outlets. Even if they try, or at least pretend to try, to be balanced and impartial, it always comes out skewed in favor of Democrats or the Left.

Obama to sign stimulus bill today in Denver

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is ready to sign into law the most sweeping economic package in decades, a rescue plan meant to reinvigorate job creation, consumer spending and public optimism. Add the bill to an ever-growing deficit.

Capping the biggest victory of his month-old administration, Obama will sign the economic legislation Tuesday in Denver.

The setting, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, is meant to underscore the investments the new law will make in “green” energy-related jobs. It also allows Obama to get away from Washington, where the bill’s passage was a mostly partisan affair, and be among people who may benefit from the huge government intervention.

The flailing economy continues to dominate Obama’s time.

And with one pen stroke the Republic falls.

Reminds me of the poem “For the Want of a Nail,” except in this case it is “For the Want of Three True Republicans the Republic Was Lost.”

Brown: MSNBC Is In Big Trouble Without Bush To Bash

You won’t hear executives at MSNBC chanting “yes we can.” The network that they cobbled together as a TV version of the left-wing screed Air America is in the ratings dumper. Advertising dollars that have never been easy are getting thinner.

Since the inauguration of Barack Obama, Bill O’Reilly and the Fox News Channel have owned prime time. One night last week, for example, O’Reilly scored 3.5 million views compared to Olbermann’s 1.4 million. Keith Olbermann may need to go back to sports. MSNBC is in big trouble without Bush to bash. Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and even Chris Matthews have filled their shows with nothing but anti-Bush hysteria for the last year. Now that their punching bag-in-chief has left Washington, they are lost.

Bush hating came naturally for MSNBC; their commentators lampooned “Dubya” at every opportunity. In addition to attacking Bush, they enjoyed trumpeting bad news with the hopes that it would make President Bush look bad.

“If MSNBC and the rest of the left-stream media continue to attack George Bush and the Republicans, even though neither are in control of anything, their attacks will sound even more insipid. Partisan propaganda is putting the media on the path to irrelevance.”

Not necessarily to the brain-dead drones who elected the Screw-Up-in-Chief. The truly devout followers of the Cult Obama would still worship even if the man committed murder, like those who followed Charles Manson. In fact, Obama and the other Dems are guilty of murder as accessories and enablers through their support of abortion.

This is also like the parable that when you love someone so much and they die, you have no purpose in life and don’t wish to go on, and conversely if you hate someone so much with a passion and they are gone, you likewise have no purpose in life. After they run out of fawning, adoring things to say about Obama, Bush leaving office really takes away the liberal so-called “journalists’” reason for being.

Postmaster General John E. Potter recently warned that economic times are so dire that the U.S. Postal Service may end mail delivery one day a week and freeze executive salaries. But his personal fortunes are nonetheless rising thanks to 40 percent in pay raises since 2006, a $135,000 bonus last year and several perks usually reserved for corporate CEOs.

The changes, approved by the Postal Board of Governors and contained in a little-noticed regulatory filing in December, brought Mr. Potter’s total compensation and retirement benefits to more than $800,000 in 2008. That is more than double the salary for President Obama.

I guess they were serious when they said they would run the USPS like a business. Literally. Lose billions of dollars, pay the CEO millions. Just like on Wall St. And to think I was feeling sorry for the postal service. Must be nice work if you can get it. But most of us aren’t crooked enough.

Hoyer to Pelosi: Stand up to Senate

House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) is pushing Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to take a harder line with the Senate after a trio of Republican senators forced Congress to trim billions from the $787 billion economic stimulus package.

It’s not clear how far Pelosi is willing to go in standing up to the Senate — or, realistically, what effect Hoyer and Pelosi combined could have in the face of the 60-vote hurdle Senate Democrats face.

But after last week’s stimulus votes, Hoyer called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to force Senate Republicans to mount actual filibusters if they want to stand in the way of bills “so that the American people can see who’s undermining action.”

Student sues after pro-marriage speech

LOS ANGELES (AP) | A college student has filed a lawsuit saying a public speaking professor berated him in class for making a speech opposing same-sex marriage.

In the federal court suit filed last week, student Jonathan Lopez said that midway through his speech, when he quoted a dictionary definition of marriage and recited a pair of Bible verses, professor John Matteson cut him off and would not allow him to finish. He said Mr. Matteson also called him a “fascist bastard.”

A student evaluation form included with the lawsuit lacks a score for Mr. Lopez’s speech, and reads “ask God what your grade is.”

I hope no one ever says I cry wolf when I tell you how extensive the Left’s relationship with education is. The sad part is I had to learn in high school that in order to pass you had to tell the teacher or the professor what they wanted to hear, even if it was a bald-faced lie, in order to pass.

I’d bet money and I’d win a fortune that this is not an isolated incident. I’m sure it goes on countless times in countless school and university classrooms and doesn’t get reported. Or the conservative students are too intimidated and want to pass just to get out, like I did, to stand up and say anything about it.

It’s a sad state of affairs.

At least I’m glad this kid had the guts to stand up to this tyrannical, abusive professor. I hope he wins the case, bankrupts the university and the professor goes to jail for verbal and psychological abuse of a student. You know that’s what would happen if the tables had been reversed and it was a conservative professor who treated a liberal student like this. But hypocriticalness runs rampant in the courts of justice as well as the halls of education.

I hope the student or someone else who will help him caught this exchange on a cell phone video or some other device. It would make the lawsuit go much more smoothly.

Democrats Split Over Leahy’s Call for Bush Administration ‘Truth’ Commission

Sen. Pat Leahy is running into stiff resistance from conservatives — and a mixed response from liberals — as he pursues a “truth commission” to investigate the alleged abuses of the Bush administration.

The Vermont Democrat, who is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, pitched the idea last week during a speech at Georgetown University, saying the commission would not pursue criminal indictments but would launch a fact-finding mission to “learn the truth” about the Bush years.

He said the commission would strike the “middle ground” between those who want to prosecute Bush officials for alleged violations of civil liberties and the politicization of the Justice Department and those who want to resist any inquiries into the past eight years. Leahy has since launched an online petition that has garnered more than 26,000 signatures.

Is there an online petition you can go sign that says this is a moronic idea from a total and complete imbecile?

Leahy is just another deranged fanatic that will settle for nothing less than George Bush’s head on a platter. I am pleased that even some liberals show a tiny speck of sense on this non-issue.

Wildlife areas on border let in outlaws

Heavily armed outlaws are threatening national parks and other public lands along the Mexican border, where terrain and environmental concerns limit the range of U.S. Border Patrol agents and are complicating efforts to build a barrier ordered by Congress.

The Department of Homeland Security has allocated about $50 million to counter the ecological impact on land managed by the Interior Department and other government agencies.

But environmentalists, energized by the Democratic leadership of Congress and the White House, are pushing for additional conservation measures that Border Patrol agents fear will make it easier for Mexican gangs to operate.

Of course, they’re all in cahoots, the Greens or Environmentalist, the Libs, the Open-Borders crowd. One scratches the other’s back and vice versa so that they all get what they want. The Greens get to stop all development, the Libs and OB’s get to import more voters to keep their lackeys, the Dems in power, and the drug lords and their gangs get to keep business booming along the border. Oh, and I almost forgot, the terrorists get an open back door to infiltrate the US in order to do great works of destruction. These diabolical partnerships couldn’t work out any better than if Satan himself had done the bargaining.

Reeson: Afghanistan: Rethinking An Old Alliance

The United States and its allies are in danger of losing the war in Afghanistan. A resurgent Taliban is in control of large parts of the country, the central government in Kabul is corrupt and incapable of exerting its authority beyond the capital, a flourishing drug trade is financing criminals, war lords, and terrorists, violence is spiraling out of control, and members of the U.S.-led coalition are growing weary of a stability operation-turned-full-fledged war that is eroding public opinion among the populations of Afghanistan, Europe, and the United States.

In the U.S., President Barack Obama has ordered a comprehensive strategic review of the American effort in Afghanistan, and has announced his intention to increase the number of American military forces in the country by as many as 30,000. That would bring the total U.S. commitment to about 65,000, around double the number provided by all other nations contributing assets to the fight against Taliban and al Qaeda militants. As the United States seeks a new way forward in Afghanistan, it should seriously consider leaving behind old alliances that are proving to be more of a hindrance than a help in prosecuting the Global War on Terrorism. A good place to start is with NATO.

The US stands alone, as usual. It is interesting to note that by far the most enthusiastic help the US has had from NATO has been from the new members, newly freed from generations of occupation and domination by the former USSR. They are thankful for their freedom and wish to pay back the US and its allies. However the older NATO members have already forgotten WWII and the fact that they would all be speaking German and singing Sieg Hiel to this day were it not for the US, and speaking Russian and bowing down to Der Kommisar were it not for the US during the Cold War. Now they cannot even be bothered to lift a finger to help in the war on terror.

It makes you wonder if we will have to go in and bail them out a third time when radical Islam comes knocking on their door like Hitler and the USSR did those time before.

It is also interesting to remember all the opposition to the troop surge in Iraq that was blasted, demonized, and vociferously opposed by the Dems, Obama included, even now they are loathe to admit it worked since it was done by the Bush White House. Yet now Obama proposes the same thing he opposed for Iraq, a troop surge in Afghanistan. I suppose the Promised One is too dense to come up with anything else on his own so he steals a play from his opponent that worked, even though he was so critical of it himself when it was used by his opponent.

I agree with Greg Reeson that NATO in its present form is almost as useless as the always worthless UN and the US should seek likeminded allies elsewhere to depend on, not the toothless paper tigers of old, past alliances. Unfortunately likeminded allies of BH Obama would be utterly useless socialist countries like those that make up the UN and NATO.

Livni: Give up parts of ‘Land of Israel’

She told a convention of American Jewish leaders, “we need to give up parts of the Land of Israel,” using a term that refers to biblical borders that include today’s Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, repeating her well-known view that pulling out of Palestinian areas would be for the good of Israel, to maintain it as a Jewish state.

Livni told the Conference of Presidents of Major American Organizations that Israel must take the initiative and come forward with its own peace plan to head off international programs. “Any plan put on the table will not be in our interest,” she said.

Isn’t what happened in Gaza proof enough that giving up land for peace does not work when it comes to Palestinians? It seems that Israel’s liberal leaders are just as delusional as those in the US.

A travesty of justice has occurred in Oakland, California. But realities surrounding this local issue point to how the economic crisis in our nation is symptomatic of and flows from a deeper fundamental moral crisis.

A black pastor awaits sentencing, which could amount to two years in prison and $4,000 in fines, for standing outside an inner city abortion clinic holding a sign saying “Jesus Loves You & Your Baby, Let Us Help You,” and offering pro-life literature.

Walter Hoye, founder and chairman of the Issues4Life Foundation, was found guilty of “unlawful approach” under the “Access to Reproductive Health Care Facilities Ordinance” enacted in Oakland in 2008.

God bless this pastor, and God, do what You have to do to those who persecute him.

This is indeed the very definition of a travesty of justice in that a man who tries to save innocent lives is sent to jail while those who boldly commit murder and are paid for it by the government get to go home as millionaires. We live in an upside down world, kind of like the Planet of the Apes, where the Apes are in charge.

What really aggravates me is that if this was a liberal pastor protesting a conservative cause and had been arrested, the Libs would come out of the woodwork to protest and free the man, kind of like what Al-Gayda did after Prop. 8 lost, and he would likely get off scott-free. But since it is a Christian, conservative pastor, there is no mass protests or anything. Most of us wouldn’t even know about it if it weren’t for Star Parker. Where is the rage on the Right to make sure justice is done and the poor man’s rights are upheld? It is a mixed up, upside down, sick world we live in, no doubt about it.

This nation’s moral decline began when God was kicked out of the classroom so many years ago and it has been going downhill ever since, gaining speed and momentum like an avalanche into moral depravity. The wisest man I ever knew once said that when a nation turns its back on God, God turns his back on that nation. Based on the evidence of present-day circumstances there is not a doubt in my mind that this is undisputable fact. To my way of thinking, the only way to get the nation back is to invite God back in. I don’t know exactly what it would take to do that but I do know it would take some kind of doing.

Patton: Why Our Enemies Are Laughing At Us

Remember how liberals told us that America would be respected again, by friend and foe alike, once Barack Obama and his Democrat allies in Congress were in charge of everything? Well, welcome to the real world, where friend and foe alike are either laughing at us, aghast at our stupidity or making plans to kill us.

Take, for starters, President Obama’s incredibly naïve decisions with regard to the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, where we have been detaining terrorists and others captured on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. One of his first acts as president was to order the suspension of all military tribunals at GITMO. This decision came on the eve of the trial of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, mastermind of the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000. As a result of Obama’s decree, charges against this terrorist have been dropped.

I was going to say that myself, especially the part about killing us. The enemies and terrorists, including Al-Queda as well as the UN are just chomping at the bit, itching to erase us from the map so that we can’t stand in the way of their plans for world conquest, one as a Muslim world empire, the other as a Socialist one-world state.

“A recall election right now might not be workable but give Obama another 6 weeks and I think his followers will drop like flies in a room full of DDT.”

I don’t know about that. I think The Messiah has built up such a Cult of Personality around him with the complicity of the media and other liberal groups and causes, that there are still too many blind, cult followers he has at his bid and disposal to crush any immediate threat to his reign of financial terror. Maybe in a few months to a year or two, conditions might be favorable for a counter-coup if the economy continues to sour and the US becomes even more of a world-wide laughing stock. Hopefully at least in time for the 2010 elections.

Crude oil is getting cheaper _ so why isn’t gas?

NEW YORK (AP) — Crude oil prices have fallen to new lows for this year. So you’d think gas prices would sink right along with them.

Not so.

On Thursday, for example, crude oil closed just under $34 a barrel, its lowest point for 2009. But the national average price of a gallon of gas rose to $1.95 on the same day, its peak for the year. On Friday gas went a penny higher.

To drivers once again grimacing as they tank up, it sounds like a conspiracy. But it has more to do with an energy market turned upside-down that has left gas cut off from its usual economic moorings.

The price of gas is indeed tied to oil. It’s just a matter of which oil.

Well, if there is any consolation in this, it is that the free market is still alive and well at least when it comes to oil. The law of supply and demand is still in effect. Who knows for how much longer once the Socialists have asserted control over both the US and the world economy. Although I can hardly see how even the socialists at the UN can train and control the oil producing states like the Arabs and Venezuela and force them to be part of a globally controlled economy.

Obama faces tough decisions on US auto industry

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration faces difficult choices on the fate of the U.S. auto industry, weighing the cost of pouring billions more into struggling companies against possible bankruptcies that could undermine plans to jump-start the economy.

General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC are racing against a Tuesday deadline to submit plans to the government to show how they can repay billions in government loans and return to viability despite a sharp decline in auto sales.

The terms of the federal loans set “targets” for concessions, largely from debt-holders and the United Auto Workers union, but concession talks have made little progress with just a couple days left before the initial deadline.

Even though I own stock in GM that my mom bought way back in the 60’s even before I was born, I am so fed up with this saga and the UAW that I am about ready to just let all of them go under, like Eastern Airlines did. The stock is pretty much worthless now and if GM is allowed to pay off its debtors and the union’s health care plan with stock it will dilute it even more and make it even more worthless. So what would be the point in keeping the dying company going?

The answer is jobs. The one thing Obama will not allow to fail. If the automakers go under, the 3 million who would find themselves jobless would more than offset the supposed 3-4 million jobs he promised his pork-fest “stimulus”-that-is-not bill would create. He can’t politically afford to let that happen. For him, the cheaper alternative is to keep funding and nationalizing the failing auto industry to bail out some of his and his party’s staunchest supporters, the unions.

In the end, it is not about helping the economy, saving the country, saving the industry, or saving the companies, it all boils down to keeping the unions happy for political gain, no matter what the cost is to anybody else.

Sanford: Stimulus would hurt, not help

I had to smile as I read the column this week from Reps. Boyd Brown and Ted Vick that took me to the proverbial woodshed for my opposition to the so-called “stimulus” bill. Given that differences of opinion make the world go round, can we just stack this one up on the woodpile of “let’s just continue to agree to disagree”? As adamantly as Mr. Brown and Mr. Vick support the package, I oppose it, and on this one I don’t think they are hearing the voices of the South Carolinians I am talking to.

As this is the case, I thought it was worth laying out why I continue to oppose the stimulus bill, and why I’ve asked others across our state to do the same.

First, I don’t believe it will work.

From what I’ve read and heard, I like this Mark Sanford, a man who seems to stand up for principles instead of political gain. We need more like him in the GOP and in elected office.

Disgraceful Obama Lovefest on Meet the Press — ‘But Wow!’

Americans expecting a serious discussion about the soon to be enacted stimulus plan certainly didn’t find it on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” which instead was sixty minutes of some of the most disgraceful Obama sycophancy since Chris Matthews bragged about getting a thrill up his leg when the Democrat presidential candidate spoke.

Virtually every time host David Gregory or any of his guests opened their mouths — with the possible exception of the Wall Street Journal’s Kim Strassel — one could close one’s eyes and envision the words emanating from a member of the Adminstration and/or the president himself.

I suppose the next step in the Liberal/Socialist Plan to conquer America is to co-op the already compliant media into a federally run Department of Communication and make them the official propaganda arm of the takeover instead of willing allies. It worked with the Department of Education, why not a Department of Communication?

Obama slows down troop boost decision

President Barack Obama is refusing to be rushed into his first decision to send troops into combat, an early sign he may be more independent-minded than U.S. military leaders expected.

The new president’s methodical decision-making offers an early insight into how the new commander in chief will approach the war in Afghanistan and has surprised some Pentagon officials, who had predicted repeatedly in the past two weeks that Obama would decide within days on additional forces, only to find the White House taking more time.

Rather than sign off quickly on all or part of a long-standing Pentagon request for three Army combat brigades and Marine units, totaling over 10,000 troops, Obama and his aides are questioning the timetable, the mission and even the composition of the new forces, officials familiar with the deliberations said.

Letting Obama or his aides run the military is like letting a pyromaniac run a dynamite factory. Disaster is sure to follow. Like letting Al Capone or John Dillinger run the police department. Like letting a timber company run the National Forests. Like letting Al-Queda run a nuclear reactor. Okay, I’ve run out of polar opposites to compare, but you get the idea.

Obama hit for comment on teachers

President Obama’s blunt but little-noted statement last week that bad teachers need to be fired and that some fellow Democrats resist real change in public schools has jolted educators and education critics alike.

“It was unusual for a Democratic president to say that,” said Cynthia G. Brown, director of education policy for the liberal Center for American Progress. “I applauded when I watched him say it on television.”

On the right, the surprise in some quarters was just as great.

What I get out of this article is what I read between the lines of the various quotes attributed to Obama. He seems to be beginning to lay the ground work for the establishment of a national system of far-Left, ultra Liberal charter schools, beyond the control of the states and local districts in order to more efficiently facilitate even more extensive Liberal indoctrination on his future constituents.

While it might sound far-fetched that he would have the “audacity” to establish a national education system to bypass the states, look, he already has control of the US Dept. of Education and most teacher training colleges are already well into teaching future teachers the most efficient methods to liberally brainwash students. Nationalized schools would only seem a natural extension of the Left’s effort to subdue and conquer the US. They’re halfway there already.

And as a former teacher, I don’t see the blatantly liberal teacher’s unions ever, ever turning on the Democratic Party that has been so good to them over the years. They have too cozy of a relationship. This is nothing. The real danger is in the government-mandated liberal education (indoctrination) of the public schools.

Chavez wins vote to scrap term limits in Venezuela

National Electoral Council chief Tibisay Lucena says with 94 percent of the vote counted, 54 percent have backed the president’s proposal. That trend is irreversible.

Firecrackers exploded as pro-Chavez caravans circled the city with horns blaring after the announcement Sunday night. Chavez appeared on the balcony of his presidential palace to sing the national anthem.

I wonder if Obama is taking any notes on how to transform a country into a socialist state by watching Hugo Chavez.

Illinois GOP leader calls on Sen. Burris to resign

CHICAGO (AP) — Just as Illinois was moving past the agony and embarrassment of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s ousting, the fellow Democrat whom Blagojevich appointed to the U.S. Senate was hearing calls for his own resignation Sunday amid allegations he lied to legislators.

Freshman Sen. Roland Burris released an affidavit on Saturday that contradicts his statements last month to a House committee investigating Blagojevich’s impeachment.

“I can’t believe anything that comes out of Mr. Burris at this point,” Rep. Jim Durkin, the impeachment committee’s ranking Republican, said at a news conference Sunday. “I think it would be in the best interest of the state if he resigned because I don’t think the state can stand this anymore.”

Will there ever be an end to the seemingly infinite trail and web of corruption of politicians in Illinois? And to think that is where our new “president” came from.
